What is Tobacco Absolute?

From Post #1 of this thread:

Tobacco Absolute
Tobacco Absolute (TA) is a commercial product made by various manufacturers (most famously in Bulgaria) that was used originally in the perfume industry. Natural tobacco is distilled or extracted into an essential oil carried as a suspension in an alcohol base. TA is super-super-concentrated and must be significantly diluted (e.g., 1:100 or more) for use in flavoring eliquids.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but Goodejuice.com is having a 50% off sale on NET's and premium eliquid. Ends Sunday night.

Soooo...50% off of 55 gallon drums each of Acadian Gold and Wrangler Light comes to...

I love GeJ, and you have to hand it to them. That's a real sale, and I'm biting.

I am not sure if it is my taste but all the NET's from my HHV sample pack taste exactly the same. Just with a slight difference of 1 added flavor. Currently enjoying Legend the most, and it doesn't destroy my wicks which is a plus!

Let 'em steep, and give them some vigorous shakes once in awhile. Not sure how stocked you are on juice, but if you can wait a couple months, they blossom into nicely rounded, distinct flavors.

Glad to see you made the jump. Like Jerms said, have some fun with it! Keep us posted and ask questions when in doubt. The process is really pretty simple and the rewards are satisfying.

I dove in tonight too. I have half-pint mason jars steeping of McClelland's Blending Perique, McClelland's Blending Oriental, Mac Baren HH Acadian Perique, Brigham Legend Series Acadian Blend, and New York Pipe Club Bledsoe's Island VaPerOriental. 1/2 ounce each in 120ml of pure PG.

Right out of the freshly opened tins, the ones whose smell intrigued me the most were the Mac Baren HH Acadian Perique and the NYPC Bledsoe's Island VaPerOriental. The Mac Baren had a deep, rich, smokey scent. The Dark Fired Kentucky in it really popped. The NYPC had a nice, soft, slightly toasted natural tobacco smell.

It was interesting to see how each behaved once they were soaking, like how much volume they took up or how they stayed (or not) suspended in the PG.

Now, just to wait a month, which is going to be torture. My single varietals should be here tomorrow too, and I'm going to get a couple of them started this weekend. Now, I'm kicking back and relaxing with some Smug Juice B(r)anded as a reward for all my hard work.

whew! finally just caught up on this thread...so many posts, so little time!
I've been vaping on juices made from my 7 recent extractions, and am gearing up to write reviews of all of them now that they've had about a month to steep and I've spent enough time with them to know which ones I like most. I have to agree with Bill that cigar extractions are a bit more complicated than pipe extractions. The cigar I extracted is kind of disappointing to me, and I'm thinking that I didn't let it go long enough in the warm water bath before I filtered it (I let it go 48 hours, and I probably should have given it at least 72). But I will say that I most likely will never buy retail juice again. I mean, I'm tempted to get some Devil Dog! from Ahlusion before they take it off the market, but all of my retail NETs are sitting quietly on a shelf and have been since I made my own extracts - and I've got some goodies on that shelf including a number of NETCOM and MVJ liquids. The simplicity and excitement of making my own NETs is just so...rewarding! I'd love to be able to offer them to share and trade with others on this thread, but I have a serious lack of sample bottles at the moment...

Well I should be getting my Indigo NET? TA? here in a day or two. I have only had 1 juice that I know had TA in it (and a lot of it), and I could taste the perfumy-ness easily. Will see if that's the case here with these. I also was a bit confused with their description as I do know the technical difference between a NET and TA, but I guess we'll see. I suppose someone could email Tony to let him know your concerns about his blurb being somewhat misleading, if that's what it is. Or I could...

At this point, I would rather get your honest take on the liquids. If you recognize that weird green taste, that would be the TA. Perfume? TA. Oily looking residue? TA. Strange aftertaste? TA. If you can't tell, but love the liquid, who cares?! ;)

I read that a lot of you seem to be putting cigar extractions into a category by themselves. Here's my take on it. Use the whole cigar and let it keep six weeks. Once you have the filtered concentrate and make your juice, let it steep a good, long while. Several times now I have gone back to a juice and found it to be a whole 'nother ballgame. Vaped another tank of some Ramon Bueso after a couple of weeks and it's more complex and less flowery now. I was disappointed with my mix of Java Maduro, but again I went back to it and there's much more of a coffee-chocalate note than before. So I guess it's still wait and wait some more no matter how you slice it.

True story - overheard in line at the pizza shop. -

"You want it sliced in four or six pieces?"

"Better make it four. I don't think I could eat six."

Wow, ordered my filtering sheet yesterday. Delivered today! Never got a shipping notice just that it was delivered to my front door. Went outside - we don't use the front door just because all our friends and delivery people know to go to the back door - and there it was by the gate to the back yard. That was FAST!

Lazy dogs didn't even bark!

pardon the typos, on my phone :)

Excellent haul. Could you please post your thoughts on the Admiral's Pipe and Petner's Pipe once you've had a chance to sample. I've been curious about them, but at RBFS prices, didn't want to commit before hearing more about them. Thanks.

I knew Brian would come through, even if it took awhile. Now, the big question is what to try first!
