Hey all you NET connoisseurs.
Took my first step into the world of NET liquids a couple o' days back by winning a generous drawing from Moonshine Brew.

I knew from previous reading that NET's can play hell on coils and wicks.
I've been sampling the Moonshine goods with an Igo and yes indeed, stuff is a hard mistress when it comes to the wick!

I'm currently using a single coil with an ID of .058" at 2ohm and cotton wick.
The NET's are 70/30, (and tasty).

So a question.
Do ya'll have a particular coil or wick that works best for ya?
Longest run time before re-wicking?

Dear dirt :)

The answer to your question is dependent on so many variables of each vaper's style, preferences and the juices being vaped, that any "specifics" would not likely be useful to you. At least that has been my experience.

Folks, I, for one, would really appreciate it if you would take this "safety/disclosure" discussion to one of the forums specifically dedicated to such discussion.

I was going to suggest it earlier, but then didn't want to come across as the heavy hand of the law, like I usually do.. :D

Edit: My first 4 ml of Petner's Pipe must have evaporated or something considering that I'm at work. I just re-upped the KFL with more. Seems to be holding it's own so far.

2 tanks on the same cotton wick midnite?

Well then, I think I better go back to school for wicking 101. That's amazing!

Yep... I use to get only about 1/2 a tank, then tried this. It must be said, though, that I am using 2.5micron filtered NET too. Using other NETs will vary your mileage.

RBFS Petner's Pipe loaded up in a KFL this morning. First impressions running at 12W on the ZNA make it out to be another lovely offering by Brian.

Heady bright Virginia plays at the back of the throat and nasal passages on the exhale and the Burley adds an almost muted nutty note to the vape. I almost, almost detected a slight coconut hint during a couple of the hits but it could be my mind playing tricks on me. I was expecting this to be a sweeter overall vape considering the Rum/Raisin reference, but those flavours don't jump out in an obvious manner. Overall a very nice solid vape that I would not mind re-ordering.

Now to see how well it does over the course of the tank in the KFL.

Admirals Pipe did not make it through an entire tank. Wick needed changing after around 3 ml. :(

Nice review, Petners Pipe will definitely be in my next RBFS order this weekend during the sale.

I had the same experience with Admirals Pipe. I have it in one of my tanks that's in my pocket atm. It's past the 3ml mark and has started crusting the coil.

On a side note, I tried Poet and Scholar again over last weekend. When I first tried it a couple months ago it had a distinct perfumy taste to it, but now after 2 months it's a lot better. It may not be a favorite cigar NET of mine but it's still pretty good. It's a medium to bold strength cigar with a distinct honey overtone. Surprisingly it does gunk up the coils just as fast as any other heat macerated pipe tobacco NET. This was in contrast to my past experiences with cigar NETs where they almost always lasted a tank.

Hey papa b

Variables and individual practices understood but still and all I'd think there might be some consensus?
Large vs small coil, cotton vs readyX vs .......

Kids! Never want to do the heavy lifting. Always want it handed to them. Lol.

You probably need to give them what wattage you like so they can better advise ya.

I was the one who started this i suppose, by trying to give kudos to MOV, which is one of the vendors discussed on this thread. Then it went off to Ether Vapes and ... It did go off in a more general direction of safety in e-liquids. I apologize for my role in this. I might be more concerned about this issue than others, and i wanted to share with people in one of the threads i read every day, but might have gone too far i suppose.

But honestly, is the issue any less relevant to the thread topic than post after post about the intricacies and details of the Magma and other drippers for example. These are posts that i have no interest in, but just ignore and go on to the next post.

I do understand your concern though, and i will no longer post about the topic here.

I use a tensioned micro coil for the less gunky NET's and a non contact coil similar to the pic Midnite posted, with a wider diameter ( 2.2 mm ), for the gunkier ones i vape like MOV, Ahl aro's and some GeJ .

I tend to dry-burn and re-wick after every tank ( 3 to 4 ml ) any way, and more than 50 % of the NET's i use perform well with a microcoil for that duration.

Some topics are much less likely to result in prolonged heated debate. I remember when even mentioning a TA based liquid would cause ears to ring. Leave alone, discussions of devices and non-tobacco juices. (If I recall, BJ, among others, was a big enforcer) I don't mind most of those discussions as I find them at least tangentaly related and largely uncontroversial.

The thread has opened up a lot and spread out to include many different topics since the old days of Part One, where most discussion was focused solely on retail NETs---favorites, duds, new juices, vendors, which NETs we liked and which we didn't. That may always be close to the heart of the thread, but it couldn't stay that way forever. Now we've expanded and branched to include performance issues, hardware considerations, homemade natural tobacco extracts and juices, and safety/health concerns. Are these relevant to a thread dedicated to Natural Tobacco eliquids? Of course they are.

Particularly around the safety/health issue, I think we can, should, and will keep discussion of general eliquid safety and vendor responsibilities to a reasonable minimum. A bunch of exchanges every so often seems fine to me, and I'm confident that most participants will be sensitive to self-monitoring how much is enough. On the other hand, relatively little has been posted so far about the specific health concerns that may accompany NETs through potentially harmful components in natural tobacco extracts and flavorings. Why? Because we don't know much about that yet. It's looming off in the distance. Rest assured, though, that such discussion will become relevant at some point as research yields more information, and with it, opinion and controversy. When that occurs, I trust that this thread will still be here to hash out all the various questions.
