So I finally sampled HHV's Gandalf... I was a little conflicted at first, as its flavor was like nothing I had tasted before. I would get a semi-sweet inhale, followed by an exhale very rich in a unique and exotic tobacco flavor; IMO a cross between cigar and pipe tobacco.

Although I wasn't blown away by it to begin with, as I kept vaping and got familiarized with it, I suddenly couldn't stop puffing on it :vapor:. I'm now officially jumping on the HHV bandwagon, and will have to try the rest of their Purity line.

Special thanks to Mr.Mann for hyping the hell out of this juice :D

It's all luce's fault. I learned about it by watching him, okay?! haha

In all seriousness, luce was the first to say anything about the juice. I only hyped it because I was happy to have found a juice that I was convinced was safe to hype! And, I was thrilled that a tobacco vape, let alone an extract, could possibly work for so many of us. Trust me though, while I may have hyped it, luce kicked the door open!

Ok, so my HHV arrived. I've only tried the tobacco so far, gotta move into this slowly cause my 'buds' are really sensitive! Do I notice a hint of licorice?? Right off the bat, I have to say that it wasn't at all unpleasant, and THAT is a huge jump for me!! I usually sniff, recap the bottle, pay it forward! It's gonna be a bit of a curve for me to come out of my safe box! I seem to recall a much stronger of this flavor on a Wyatt Earp of sorts. Is that what I'm tasting??

Hmm, I think I will skip that flavor for now!

I think it was definitely worth the hype Mann. Now all I need are other recommendations from their purity line for when I order 30ml of the stuff :)

While I do still recommend HHV, I am looking into Ahlusion now for safe options for most. Huntsman i probably the next safest from HHV. I am getting more mixed reviews with the rest, though knowing your taste, Pirate's Booty may suit your palate as well. But, only quote me on Gandalf! ;)

Tried out some of the vapenstein stuff I had lying around yesterday (London, Paris, Managua). They all have similar performance.. very smooth, tons of vapor, but not a lot throat hit from what I could tell atm.. Only the Manugua distinguished itself with a lot of flavor though. It could've been my choice of device.. I was using a BB at 3.7, with a modified CE3 for dripping. However, everything else I've used that setup with has produced good flavor. That isn't to say London and Paris weren't good.. I just didn't get enough from either to stand out. It's too bad Managua is a limited run. It's the best of the bunch.

edit: On another note, Red Pirate is still pretty great. I can tell the source is a chewing tobacco, but it takes on a personality of it's own in a vape.

I'm trying to narrow down the list to four samples, and will have to eliminate one of the following: Pirate's Booty, Huntsman, Dark Horse, Dragon's Fire, or Oompa. Which one do you think should get axed?

And what about requesting extra extract on the Gandalf like you do? How much do you think this alters the flavor?

Uhhh, well, hmm? I think it amps up the underlying tobacco-y-ness, but I wouldn't get much of it. Ask for maybe 1.5extra, but not double--double may be too harsh. I don't vape Dark Horse as much as I thought I would (I detect an artificial sweetener that I do not enjoy), and you can have my Oompa if you want becasue I won't ever vape it-- I don't dig chocolate, even if it's good.

So, I personally would axe Dark Horse, or Oompa. Don't swing that axe anywhere near Huntsman. ;) The extra extract isn't a must, but since you already know how Gandalf tastes, maybe get a sample of Gandalf with the extra extract so you can measure the difference yourself. Even still, I do not think the extra extract is necessary. How much Gandalf did you get?

p.s. Dark Horse is good, but it is something about it that leaves an aftertaste with me that became more pronounced than my initial findings.YMMV

I got a 3ml sample of Gandalf and it's all gone :(. I'm planning on getting 30ml of it soon though...

BTW, I'll be sending you the bunch of samples you wanted in the coming days.

I just learned that there is no artificial sweetener of any kind in Dark Horse or any of HHV's Purity Line of juices! Also, the juices come standard now with the 1.5X extract that I originally requested. It really isn't a ton of a difference here folks, but the difference that is made is all for the better--it tastes more like it has steeped for a few weeks this way--which is a great thing!

What kind of camel, I guess? I wasn't making fun of the "inexpensive" part, I was poking fun at the "camel" part. There is no real way you are going to sleigh that dragon, or save that princess! Your only real way of finding a good tobacco, is to look for a good tobacco...not a specific brand of cigarette. I understand the impulse, but it is a losing battle. You are in the right thread for tobacco, but not for analog equivalency.

But, to answer your question, I would suggest you trying some Vapor Station Tampa. It isn't really a "Camel" taste (not that I think there is a such thing per se), but it is very close to a cigarette taste. If you'd like a little more gruff, try Halo Freedom and if you are really feeling adventurous, try... never mind! I know better than that. ;)

I don't mean to make light of your hunt, but you may be looking for Big Foot.

Let me rephrase that then, what is a good camel vape then?

Or maybe even BWB Backo. These are just my suggestions, but they are not necessarily my recommendations (though these suggestions are very good). All jokes aside, I wish you all the luck with finding what you are looking for. Cheers!

Mr. Mann,

I don't know if it was a double-entendre or just a brain-fart typo, but "sleigh the dragon" made me laugh. I imagined trying to put a dragon into harness to pull a big sled. Quite a feat. I'm thinking more likely that you meant "slay the dragon."

I mean no offense, by the way. ECF isn't English 101, but that one was funny (funny ha-ha, not funny weird).

I'm definitely with you on Camel-flavored nicquids. OMG, there must be hundreds of them. Camel, Kamel, Kammel, Desert Ship, etc. And then there are the various Turkish Blend flavors, which aren't necessarily Camel replicants, but they do lean in the same direction.

Mountain Oak Vapors does a really nice tobacco-flavor sample pack. It would be worth buying and finding out which one YOU like best. Everyone has different taste in tobacco blends.

What I personally found was that some flavors satisfy the same craving even though they don't necessarily taste like a "camel" or "american spirit". For example, a lot of the tea-based flavors satisfy my craving for tobacco flavor.

I spent about a month looking for the same taste as my analogs, then one day, when I was smoking, I *paid* *attention* to the flavor ....and realized....it wasn't a flavor. I didn't even like it. It was just...not alien, not bad, and my brand. The satisfaction was coming from the addiction-fix + smoke (plus hand motion, mouth motion, etc)

That is when I discovered that it was more important to me to match vapor output to my analog output, and find a flavor that convinced me I was having *some* kind of tobacco. For some reason a vape that smells like a pipe tobaccanist's store, combined with the right wattage, pg/vg mix, etc satisified my "analog need." I have since discovered that I actually do need WTA in addition to all of the above, but that group is a minority and the juice is expensive.

Bottom line: the vaper's cry is "More Vapor!!!" (Somebody sent me a cute cartoon on that.)

It was way too late and I was typing up too many things at once. LOL. I just re-read it this morning like:blink: I think I will leave it there because it sure would be a feat to "sleigh a dragon" (almost like a camel going through the eye of a needle.;))
