I tried two more El Toros tonight....Virginia Prime in the AGA and Eden in the Phoenix.

Virginia is strangely nondescript compared to others in this line. I find it a softer and sweeter tobacco than, say, Cigarillos. Not a bad thing mind you, and as it happens I was in the mood for something gentler tonight. I have to say though that something about the aroma of it reminds me of cooked rice . This could totally be my own mishegoss because I'm getting over a cold.

Eden is probably the best apple tobacco I've yet tried. I like it way better than GEJ's version which was too spicy/cinnamonny for me, and marginally better than HHV's Caramel Apple. The flavor is a cooked slightly sour apple, placed against the backdrop of the high-keyed crisp Puros flavor, and HOLY BEJEEBUS did I just refill that for a third time? That never happens.

What the Heck???? Go to bed already!!!!!!

Wow, 45 minutes in and the coffee-infuse Tabak Especial is only burned about half-way down. I didn't realize large cigars last so long, makes the $11 for this one a little easier to swallow. So far, it's been fantastic. Notes of coffee and chocolate with a smooth tobacco. Would make a tasty eliquid. vaping's my hobby, don't need to add cigars to that, but can definately see picking up a good one once in a blue moon.

That's one down that you won't be snatching Hula, tick-tock tick-tock.

So, another anecdote worthy of note. (As pertaining to JDSs and different taste perceptions)
I had Gandalf in a ViVi Nova cause my Screw Tank died. Received new heads and since the Stardust that I had Dragon's Fire in crapped out I decided to fill the ST with DF. (Hope your following) Dragon's Fire in the Screw Tank was just not getting it!
Realizing that for the last few weeks, Gandalf was not the Gandalf that I had so enjoyed in my Screw Tank and that Dragon's Fire was not the Dragon's Fire that I so loved in my aged Stardust, I switched 'em!
All is good once again! Gandalf's staff shines bright in the Titan and Dragon's Fire became my new favorite with the help of Gandalf's power left in the ViVi Nova. (90/10)
Huge difference! :)

Wow! It's amazing how much difference the delivery system seems to make - I'm almost fearful of switching to different or upgraded this's n that's because I know where I am right now. Was there a difference in the ohms at all or was everything else equal Nomo? It isn't because both juices got to steep a couple more weeks maybe? Btw what's an NEC?

It's amazing to me too! The JDSs aren't very different. Wire and wick, same as my RBA! I have a Vamo that regulates the watts automatically for whatever ohm rated JDS I select but I noticed the same with my Twists varying the voltage.
I don't know if it's the wicking material used, the wire, the configuration or all three combined along with the mind but I see a world of difference in every JDS I've tried.
Also, there's the draw, the warmth the amount of vapor, come to think of it. :)
EDIT: Not to mention how the different juices play with the variables!
Steep age and batch should be a constant. :)

So ummmmm not knowing anything about premium cigars, I bought those 5 thinking I'll be able to enjoy one every couple days. I didn't worry that I don't have a humidor, after all, I don't plan on aging these for months or years and that's all humidors are for right? No Jerms, wrong. Found out surfing the interwebs that a cigar is good for maybe a couple days outside a humidor before it dries out. D'oh!! And I guess keeping them in the car below freezing while I went out for Sushi with a friend and went grocery shopping for an hour wasn't good on them either.

So I have these sitting in a Tupperware with a wet paper towel in the corner, hoping to gain a few days of freshness. Gonna have to smoke these up quicker than I thought. As the first one lasted nearly 2 hours (these are all pretty big ones) I don't think I can do more than one a day, hopefully they stay fine. The Blondie is in a glass tube, don't know if that makes a difference.

Okay Hula, no need to sneak in and steal my stash or smother me with a pillow when I sleep (not saying that was your plan, just my preferred method of robbery). Come to Fargo and help me smoke these :p

Jerms,

I spent the middle of my adulthood---25 years in all---living in Minnesota (Twin Cities). While I enjoyed the snow and frigid weather for most of that quarter-century (we used to joke that it kept out the riff-raff), eventually it got a little old for me. I mean, seven months of winter can be a bit much, especially as one gets older, and most especially during March, which (as you know) is wet, heavy-snow blizzard month.

Nothing against Fargo, by the way---I will always love the upper midwestern plains, especially Lake Superior. Now I live on the Oregon coast, which, although beautiful, puts me much more at risk (I live in a tsunami zone and often think fondly of the stability of Minnesota's sitting on the bedrock of the Canadian Shield, which is the oldest granite rock formation on the planet, 2.3 billion years old).

Be that as it may, however, I think your cigars are safe from my showing up in Fargo during the middle of March to clandestinely pilfer your goodies. LOL.

Rather than encouraging you to smoke those babies, though, I'll take the healthy road and recommend that you turn 'em into NETs!

No need to say "nothing against Fargo". I despise the long winters myself and welcome any negative comments they deserve.

And that's funny what you said about NETs. I just posted in your thread a congrats and good luck with your maceration and how after smoking that one last night it got me even more willing to look into doing my own. These however, will be smoked.

Lots of interesting stuff here, Scarf. Virginia Prime = cooked rice?! Oddly enough, now that you say that (I'm comparing it in an IGO and an EM 510 right now), I'm picking up on that as well in my IGO-L. HiLARious! ACK!! In an RBA, VP really becomes a very different juice. I will stay with the 510 and remain convinced that it's fresh-baked bread! :D The juice seems to be changing a bit as well (nic settling in?), and I think I liked it a bit better in the first week. Still solid though.

Eden is still a mystery, though growing on me slightly. I do quite like the apple flavoring, but the Puros/Cigarillos-esque tobacco just doesn't seem to combine well with the apple for me. It's too... uh,.... woody? nutty? I dunno, can't put my finger on it.

The first time I tried Apple Cured, it was about a week old - I got it in a swap. I loved it. I thought it was odd that you mentioned cinnamon the other day when we were hanging, because I got nothing like that. Fast forward to a fresh bottle just received a couple days ago, and whaddya know? Apple Cinnamon! What the heck? It's very different from the week-old sample I had. This juice, it seems, needs at least a week to steep into itself.

Vaping Guevara in my newly received Smokteh RDA (amazing dripping RBA for me so far). I've tried it in a few different JDSs, and it's still just not doing a whole lot for me. I don't know, it's not bad, but it's not standing out in any way for me yet. I'm actually not getting that much flavor from it. It's not delicious like Eden; layered, delicious, and interesting like VP; or interesting, nutty and starting to grow on me like Cigarillos. Maybe I need more time with it, or maybe I'm lacking the right taste buds this juice is meant to hit, or possibly I haven't used the right JDS yet. For now it's boring and needs something to keep my interest.

Puros I found too strong, the nuttiness almost overwhelming, but haven't given it another go yet. If by the time these two juices are halfway vaped they still aren't rockin it for me, they may be good mixed together. Add some interest to the Guevara and tame the Puros. Still early on and opinions may change later.

I'm with you on Eden though Scarf. Dug it right away and still heavily enjoy every time I vape it. VP we are definately tasting differently, but I'll keep your impressions in mind next time I vape it.

Could someone suggest a good place to buy wire and wick? Thanks! :)

Nomo, wires easy, lots of vendors whether you want to get 3ft or a 100ft. You could literally drop under $20 of a size you want for a roll of wire that will make thousands of rebuilds. I just got a few feet of different sizes of kanthal and nichrome from kidneypuncher to test them out. RTDvapor sells 50ft and 100ft depending on gauge for about $12. Try out 30awg and 32awg to see which you like better. 28awg is popular too but I think it's used more in the sub-ohm mechanical mod crowd.

Silica is widely available too, but I don't know which has the better quality yet. I'm waiting to receive 10ft of the braided silica from RTDvapor to see how it compares. It's expensive at a dollar a foot there, but worth it to me if it works well. That's still a lot wicks per dollar. So far I like the thicker 3mm wick over 1mm wick better. I think the smaller sizes are more for re-wicking tanks and clearos but it mostly personal preference from what I've seen.

Edit: grain of salt with my RBA info! I'm still pretty new at this too so might be off base on some things. Lots to learn!

Shoot me a PM and I can slip some 28, 30, or 32 in an envelope for you for trying out. I have a bit of 400 mesh also, but not a huge amount. As far as silica goes, I can provide a few online vendors that are reasonable.

I can also attest to the IGO-L being a decent RDA.

Also, if you're not using a torch lighter on your silica do it! I don't know why I waited so long to get one, totally gets rid of that nasty new silica breaking in taste. And check out the RDA since you like your IGO-L. Only $9 and works awesome!

Could you expand on the Torch Lighter thing? Will my Bic work? :)

Funny you should say that Jerms as I have the same experience with Guevera. Several people were saying how good it was but for me the taste was too mild. I guess that NET's are the same as the vintage, fine or otherwise, of a wine. Sometimes the conditions are perfect for the crop that ultimately gets used and other times not so perfect. Still love my Puros and cigarillos though.

Wow, tough crowd. I think that the GR I picked up is pretty stout, and I like stiff flavored tobacco. Wonder if it's that steeping method used with the reserve. Has a slight 'peaty' and smokey taste to it along with a hint of a brandy tone. Kind of reminiscent of Laphroaig single malt whiskey. Not overwhelming, but just enough. Nice throat hit too. Even the 10mg I got at the same time has a decent TH. At the time, I thought it was just a gimmick, but it really did come out nice.

We'll see how Nick likes it. ;)

Nope, no Bic. Need one of those torch butane refillable lighters. You know, the ones that shoot out the blue flame and are windproof and go click when you light them. It was harder to find one than I expected, checked a few gas stations and they just sold the bottles of fuel. The tobacco shop had a bunch though, cigar smokers use them a lot. If you search torch lighter at amazon you can get one for under $10. Or just buy a regular old badass torch used for cutting copper pipe lol.

I bet the reserve is quite a bit different. It better be for that price lol. Maybe I can find a tiny oak barrel that's been used for decades storing Brandy and make it reserve myself. They gotta be out there, how else do they properly age those little airplane sized bottles of liquor?
