RYGAR is an RY4 (caramel-vanilla tobacco) made by Want2Vape but sold exclusively on VulcanVape. It fights with QuickNic OurWhy Quattro as my favorite NET RY4.

I've been reading this thread for about a year now and I still confuse Rygar for Ryback every time it's brought up.

Ryback is by D&R tobacco and it's a Euro style halfzwares cigarette tobacco along the lines of Gauloises. It probably would make a great NET, maybe something like W2V Paris Blend.

I have a question I hope is appropriate for this forum. I keep looking at tobacco juices and what kind of tobacco is either lab created, extracted, or whatever other ways there are to make a tobacco liquid. Can someone give me ideas of what tobaccos have what flavors, and what tobacco types are in specific cigaretter/cigar brands? I know this is asking a lot. I don't expect someone to compile a huge list, but just any info off the top of your head will do.

Like for example:

Turkish tobacco - that is in Camel cigarettes, right? And, in general, it's a dry kinda spicy flavor?

Then I hear of Perique and have no clue what kind of tobacco that is or what it's flavor profile is at all.

Or Latika (sp?) Where does that even come from, what area of the world? And what is its flavor profile.

I would really like to compile a list of tobaccos and their flavor profiles and what vendors carry them. I would think this would come in handy for everyone.

P.S. To keep it specific to the NET Forum, we could just discuss those tobaccos in NETs.

Learning about the different types of tobacco and curing methods is a pretty cumbersome topic, but well worth it for NET fans and has personally helped my appreciation of the hobby. I've read a guide that was very packed with pertinent info, if I remember right it was copied from a book and originally posted by Mann or Scarf? Either way, maybe someone who knows what I'm talking about can post a link or I'll hunt for it. In the meantime, Google terms like Latakia, Perique, Burley, Virginia tobacco, Turkish tobacco, Cavendish, fire cured tobacco, flue cured tobacco, and air cured tobacco.

Perique and Cavendish are tobacco processes. Cavendish involves sweetening it and Perique is pressure plus fermentation. Cavendish is usually mellow and sweet, and Perique has a fruity, almost vinegary tang to it.

Turkish is yes, spicy and a bit savory.
Latakia is bold, smokey and extremely savory. It's the tobacco used in "Balkan" and "Engish" pipe blends. I believe the best of it is made in Syria, in the city of that name.

Really the only way to know what something tastes like... it to taste it. Otherwise it is sort of like trying to describe a color to a blind person that has never seen anything before. Of course, that doesn't stop of from trying, usually through analogies and such.

Saying that because a Camel cigarette has a Turkish tobacco in it... just doesn't do the tobacco itself any favor or really give you an idea of how it tasted... cigarettes have little flavor when compared to their constituent components. The only way I had any idea of what any of the various tobacco's tasted, came from the actual tasting and not the descriptions given here even as good as they have been.

A few months ago I downloaded some 19th century tobacco books from Project Gutenberg and I think it was in one of those that I read something about Latakia, and I think they said that originally Latikia was Oriental tobacco (aka: "Turkish" ) that had been stored in the rafters of homes and the smoke from the family heating and cooking fires would slowly permeate the tobacco. I found that interesting because Latakia is often classified as fire-cured, but if that story is correct it is really more like smoked or smoke cured...at least originally, in the old days.

Funny story: if you go to the Wikipedia page about Latakia tobacco, it talks about a perfume by Serge Lutens, Fumerie Turque, which is designed to mimic the aroma of Latakia.

Fumerie Turque is a strong contender for my favorite fragrance of all time, and I never knew that! I have a bottle and a backup bottle, that's how much I love it. Figures.

They go into the rafter thing on that Wikipedia page too, and it says "citation needed". I should try to find it in that book again, I'm sure that's where the info came from. I've seen info from those old books quoted all over the place. I think it was "Tobacco Leaves / Being a Book of Facts for Smokers" by W.A. Brennan, but I downloaded several.

Also want! (Please)

They truly are. It's been fun to discover and learn about NETs. I find them more satisfying than tobacco cigarettes ever were.

Gah! I didn't know that. You, Tez, Blue, and I should hit up the excellent OC/LA shops next time you're here.

I am in Placentia (Fullerton)

By the way, I counted FIVE new vape shops in Fullerton last week is a tobacco store that now has a vape section. That is ridiculous. 2 look promising, boulevard vape downtown on harbor and a place on state college. I went into that kne and it was pretty nice. Nice little lounge area, decent selection, and an RBA section where they built for some and taught to others. OC is BLOWING UP with vape shops. It is going to take something special for the few that survive long term. I have not asked any about NET...yet.

Let's talk about a synthetic liquid - Johnson Creek Smoke Juice - JC Original.

I will catch up on the thread later however right now I just want to say that I happened to stick some Johnson Creak - Original in my Vapeonly BCC and damn that is one mighty fine synthetic tobacco. I know I may receive a blank on this post both because there are many knockers of JC and also because its off topic (unless juices that resemble a NET or invoke a question about whether they are a NET apply).

It is performing really well in the BCC. this is the first time I've used a synthetic in a BCC and think the reason this juice tastes so good is that BCCs generally perform better with synthetics than with NETs.

I am finding it hard to know what's in this juice because unlike NET's where we are trying to pick the blends of single leaf extractions and various types of tobacco's, one is trying to detect the synthetic additives and proprietary concentrates (Flavor Apprentice, Flavorart, and a bunch of European flavor masters). If I had to take a stab I would say I can taste some kind of synthetic Virginia, maybe a hint of TA and some stag leaf or Type M Flavor Apprentice. It is the way these flavours integrate that makes it passable as a NET. It's all tobacco in taste. There is no hint of fruit or dessert in this juice and its not very sweet at all outside the PG/VG component. There may be very subtle undertone of caramel or vanilla but all it does is give the tobacco profile some lightness or mild sweetness. I have to search for any caramel or vanilla when vaping the juice but it plays like a rich, moist tobacco flavour reminiscent of the Vermillion River range. If I didn't know any better I would think there was some component in this juice that is a natural extraction but I know this is not the case. This is one of the formative juices in the fledgeling vaping market back before NETs were on the market.

I know taste is subjective but I don't get the criticisms against Johnson's Creek. I have, in the last few months, ordered synthetics that were drain worthy I disliked them so much but this one is a winner in my book. It's target market is most likely not some of the very discerning netizens in this group but for the individual who is new at vaping and wants a liquid to simulate that rich tobacco flavour, this juice would have a good chance of hitting the right notes with them.

I really enjoy a good synthetic from time to time especially a tried and true one like JC Original. It's a nice change to vape something that doesn't gunk up equipment yet still retains a good tobacco rich flavour.

If I discovered this juice 3 years ago it would be in my top 3 juices. It's definitely in my most favourite synthetics right now alongside some Vapor Station juices, Aromea-juice WTA's and COV's Black and Tan. I wish I had some of the other blends from JC to try but I only got this one particular bottle with a W2V order from Vulcanvape and decided to throw it in to try it.

100s of NETs to review and I go and review a synthetic. What can I say. I am quirky and others have given such outstanding reviews on some of my favourite NETs that anything from me would be sub-standard.

RELAX EVERYBODY.

Cold day in the southern hemisphere. Got two vapes on hand: Vmod with Tobacco Cookies Pirate's Booty, and AGI with an old fave RYGAR, which every time I pick it up is like "why have I left you for so long?" Also testing out a new concentration of the Erinmore mixture which is too yummy. I'm glad I bought a big tin of the tobacco to make lots of extract for y'all, otherwise I'd be tempted to hoard it all.

Can't wait to try it. Your description of dragon fire had me doing a :?: there for a second. Then i raffed.

You extract Dunhills!? I would pay to try that extraction. It pains me that I am so busy I get left out of these loops!

OH RIGHT THAT:) Yes I do like that Dunhill. I am going to make another batch of it soon and share it. I have been so preoccupied with various and sundry cr@p that I have neglected my forum pals. Situation to be rectified soon.

Yes, that's me on Vapesquad. The post that got me blogging again. ;)

Voltron, I agree with you about Patriot. Nice angle to compare it to Cold Infusion. I have a 30 ml bottle of CI Cigar (formerly know as Cold Infusion) and Coffee Infused Cigar and can't wait for them to arrive. I've waited a long time. I am an absolute fan on Drew Estate extractions and I've never tried a cigar in my smoking life from them (being in Australia I probably wouldn't have even if I had heard of them).

I received Goodejuice's Patriot yesterday and just sampled it for the first time. My initial thoughts on the flavor are that this is clearly a strong tobacco, no doubt about it. It actually reminds me of W2V's Cold Infusion in terms of the genuine tobacco taste, like if you just licked a tobacco wrap while rolling your own. TH is very strong at 24mg and I wished I had gone lower. I'm actually surprised at how my clearomizer is reacting to the juice, as I have vaped about 1ml, which is enough to clog it up with Vita Bella and GJ4, and it's still working fine. I likely won't reorder as it's a little too strong for me, but I would recommend this juice to anyone looking for a full font tobacco. 9/10

We seem to have similar tastes BJ.

Want2Vape Blondie or Lousville for me and at the very moment - Habana Daydream - QnJ. Patriot - QEJ, Balkan and Black Cavendish by NET.com are close behind. I am taking it that the nature of the question was an all day vape.

My holy trinity right now is Ahlusion Maple Burley (perfect balance of strong burley and slightly sweet earthy richness), Want 2 Vape Louisville (the most authentic "smoke" I have ha to date), and N-E-T Coventry (all elements I like, one I the smoothest and most balanced vapes I have ever had, an authentic smoke feel, just balanced so well and I never get tired of it)

I will add I have not counted Vita Bella out yet. At 4 weeks it is still a bit too desserty for me, but traces of tobacco are finally coming through...and in spite of myself I am reaching for it time and again. I also have very high hopes for N-E-T Black Cherry. And I can vape their Black Cavendish all day every day. That is a fantastic juice and a true cav "smoke"

Anthony, I vaped a lot of JC in my early vape days. Mostly the Red Oak line (Silverthorn and TN Cured). But I also vaped some JC Original and it wasn't too bad (that was a PG juice). But then I found NETs and to be honest, I find those JC juices horrid and disgusting now. Maybe I have turned into a NET snob but I can't stand those old JC juices anymore. And to make it worse, they are expensive! ($20/30ml) I believe they are still supplying Blu Cigs or one of those popular gas station brands. All said, God bless Johnson Creek because they have done an outstanding job with their website and marketing to help lots of people to get off analogs.

Lots of good choices on here. I've personally been enjoying BWB Virginia.

I've noticed that most NET (and most ejuice in general) costs around 15 bucks for a 30ml. Does anyone know of any good pipe tobacco liquid (Virginias or English blends) that are a little cheaper or have good coupon codes?

Heather's Heavenly Vapes runs $13/30ml and have a few (Legend) pipe blends. But most vendors are in that $15 and up. Quick nic Juice has an excellent English pipe blend (Grandpa's Night Cap) but I think he's about $15 too.
