Trust mem I am not a defender of HHs, but they're covered for as long as you have them. Send 'em back and they'll fix whatever.
Mr.M,
Not exactly. Sorry to take issue with you, but you've mentioned this more than once.
Hanna makes it clear in his instructional video that he will fix any HH357 that is "repairable," meaning that the atty still works but has issues or doesn't work and reads as an open circuit because of a bad connection. That's not the same as replacing a burned-out or popped coil. Once that happens, the HH357 can't be repaired, and you're SOL. So no, it's not "buy it once and have one forever." That makes sense to me, since replacing the coil is effectively like getting a brand-new HH357. Hanna might have a hard time making a living if he offered that kind of sweeping lifetime guarantee.
I filled out a ticket at Avid about my HH357 that failed after four months' use, and Hanna very politely responded that it sounded like the coil had given its last gasp and probably couldn't be repaired. He did state that I could ship the atty to him in a padded mailer, and that he'd look at it. If it could be repaired, he would, for the $5 return fee.
I'm certain enough that mine is dead that I see no point in spending $2 in postage to send it back.
