After months of using Protanks with a variety of power sources, I have finally switched to dripping with mechanical mods. Okay, so my taste buds weren't lying to me. I WASN'T getting the same flavors many of you reported here. Now, I'm getting completely different tastes yet again. With 2 drippers, I'm blissfully vaping GodZNilla and HumpBack from QnJ. I may pick up a couple more drippers to tease the palate with more flavors. Yes, it's a different world and using cotton wicks makes a huge difference to me.

Funny you mentioned this. Yesterday I dripped Hurricane's Sunshine Cured Tobacco (artibacco) for the second time. There's some tones I really like, and some I don't care for in it; and overall it seems to contain too much flavoring. I was thinking; why is it flavored so strong and why did they allow these off tones in it.. do they test on cartomizers or something? I still have some Boge cartos collecting dust so I loaded it up (took a while, even at 70%pg the juice seems thick, and Boge uses a dense material in their cartos). Hadn't used a carto in a while so first thing I notice.. yes tastes like carto filler. But more important, the flavor was toned down to a noticably better level and most of the off notes were muted out.

Truth is for NETs, or any complex juice, the only way to get ALL of the complex notes is to drip; be it on a 306, 510, 901, or rebuildable dripper. Even the latest generation of bottom coil clearos and tanks are unable to bring forth all the notes for all complex vapes. Dripping is suggested for NETs not just because they can tend to be dirty on coils, but because the complexity of flavoring from real tobaccos leaves doesn't tranfer completely with other toppers. Many get results that are good enough for them by using cartos and clearos, and people should vape on the device that they feel works best for them, but when they do they should realise they are tasting the juices different from people who drip.

As shown with my Hurricane test, some juices actually taste better on devices that mute or change flavor. Personally I only reorder juices that taste great when using a device that brings out all the flavor. Also, some juices taste about the same in my Protank 2 as a dripper, but those are more simple juices with 1 or 2 flavors that aren't very complex (which I like to vape on the go, so perfect for that BCC).

Exactly. Nothing wrong with using clearomizers, but people should know that subtleties are lost in them.

Nothing wrong at all, and just because certain notes are muted doesn't mean a juice won't taste great. Generally though, the deeper someone gets into the flavor part of the hobby, the more they want to search out how to get the full spectrum of flavors. For a long time, and even still now in my opinion, that's by drip drip drip.

There wasn't too many NET offerings back then...compared to now. And it seemed we had the whole NET world to ourselves. I had been reading the NT thread for awhile before I ever posted on it. I laugh...there were folks talking about their pets and mowing their lawns, etc.. and I thought, "What he hell kind of a thread is this"? So I griped a little and Eleanor kicked my ... and straightened me out. I've enjoyed this thread since.

Thanks El. You're still the Queen of the Vape World as far as I'm concerned. :)

 Aww, shucks, Bronze. I'm so glad I was in a touchy mood that night; aren't you?:p

Did initial Gandalf taste like current Legend? the cherry-like stuff?

NO. :( That very first bottle of Legend was . . . earth-shattering.

Off Topic: If anybody is interested, I posted some pics of my handiwork. Post #50 here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...i-once-knew-there-more-what-else-we-into.html

Johni, you do beautiful work!!

I just noticed that AliceinVapeland has their first in house NET on the regular menu; Fifteen Foot Falls. Looks to be very much a dessert NET with fire-roasted marshmellows, coconut frosting, honey graham cracker, and a touch of tobacco. This sounds much closer to what they excell at compared to what was going on with Ravyn, could be good. Adding to my list, probably get to it sometime next summer lol.

Thoughts: Described as a "blend of Virginias, Perique, unsweetened Black Cavendish with a dash of Latakia and a spoonful of rich cigar leaf." In other words, it's like pipe tobacco with a little cigar thrown in. It's actually quite pleasant and a wonder median if you're looking for an infusion of the two. The pipe is not as much aromatic but not bitter as many english blends are. It definitely is different and in a very good way.

I LOVE The idea of this thread!!!! I'm more (was more) a pipe guy than cigar.. if i would mess with a cigar it would always be some h. Upman, or an Onyx... And i would love to find a latakian flavor that matched pipe like qualities.... any suggestions on anything matching any of those?

also has anyone tried making their own flavoring from actual tobacco, i saw a youtube video once, and wondered if it would work. the guy boiled down a cigar or something like that..

Apache from Mountain Oak Vapor or Devil Dog from Ahlusion. If you have problems getting in an order from Ahlusion, go for Apache.

I may have mentioned it before on this thread but my experience with Tribeca bears this out. I found it quite enjoyable in cartos but when I switched to clearos... Blecch. Most of my other juices taste better in clearos though, and better still in a dripper.

Hi Landonology, welcome! Have you had any natural/extracted tobacco (NET)vapes yet. Here's a list of some pipe blends containing Latakia.

Apache from MountainOakVapers: contains flue cured Virginia, Oriental, and Latakia tobaccos. Southern Gentleman from them also contains a small amount of Latakia.

Devil Dog from Ahlusion: site is down right now, but based on memory is has Latakia, Perique, and Burley?

From naturally-extracted-tobacco: Balkan containing Macedonian and Virginia leaves with Latakia. Bombay containing Burley, Virginia, Black Cavendish, and Latakia. They also have a straight Latakia single varietal jusl added.

London Blend from Want2Vape: Virginias, Orientals, and Latakia.

There are others that I haven't had. Apache is possibly my favorite, with a slight sweetness to it. Devil Dog is close, but I haven't had it in a while. Possibly the strongest of these. Balkan I just started vaping but it's pretty dry and very good. London.. it's good, not my favorite, and gunks up coils quicker than the rest.

Not sure how many people here would be interested, but JFresh from WholeCig (a WTA vendor) has recently got his first NET. But here's the thing, his NET is extracted from the same source tobacco as his WTA. So he is trying his best to not only juice the flavor of the tobacco, but the alkaloidial (new word, LOL) experience from the tobacco.

It's still new (not even sold yet) and likely will go through some tweaks/changes, but I think it's surely worth mentioning. The source tobacco is Virgina Flue-Cured.

What a novel idea. :lol::sneaky::lol:

Welcome to the thread Landonology. You've come to the right place. Jerms has made some excellent suggestions to get you started.

I wouldn't recommend reading back because you would probably lose your mind. Just ask any questions that you may have and we'll do our best to help you get going!

Been vaping Analog most of today on an A7 micro coil at 1 ohm 8 watts, with cotton wick. I'm getting just a slight hint of apple. This stuff is really good. I think most of you waiting on your GeJ order are gonna love it. I don't think there's any apple in Analog but having tasted beer in Rock Star and whiskey in Hey Jack! I'll take the apple. I gotta get a waaayyy bigger bottle of this stuff.

Not only have a significant number of us "tried," but we've succeeded, sometimes brilliantly. I've personally made six tobacco extracts---three cigarette and three pipe tobacco, plus three coffee extracts. Making home-brewed natural extract from real tobacco is as easy as pie (I mean that literally---making NET is about as easy a making a pie from scratch; takes longer, but it isn't rocket science...].

15 grams of tobacco (roughly half a big cigar, half an ounce of pipe tobacco, or one pack of cigarettes) will yield enough extract to make 500mls of DIY juice.
