Oh yes! A lot of them have issues with consistency. I really think this can be more the nature of the beast rather than the juice maker's relative skill set. tobacco plants are not always created equally.

Yes, but that is where transparency also comes into play: let the customer know, up front, that something has changed.

I know HHV has created new flavors because of this issue. And GeJ had to, as well, when ingredients were no longer available.

But if I buy 2 bottles of the same juice simultaneously, they had better taste the same.

I tell you one thing, if someone ever extracts WTA from a tobacco, then extracts the flavor of that same tobacco and marries it with the WTA, I am buying!

I think a method to produce something like that is already outlined in an old thread here on ECF.

I just spent a few hours this weekend reading this thread:

Beta Carboline MAOIs - towards a more effective e-liquid

There are several twists and turns but what it evolves into is basically a collaboration between an ECF member called tceight and DVap to develop a relatively safe kitchen made WTA extract where the extracted alkaloids are never concentrated to overtly dangerous levels while using household food safe chemicals.

The results are impressive by all accounts and only lack in purity compared to DVap's lab made WTA extract, and of the few posters who actually tried both, most seemed to prefer the dirtier kitchen version!

The "impurities" are basically NET flavoring, but it would still be much cleaner than most NETs (DVap calls the resulting extract from simple soaks "filthy"...I agree. Take a sniff of that smoldering crap buildup on your coil after a long NET session...a full ashtray of pure filth in every pindrop).

Definitely seems worth a try. Ascorbic Acid (vitamin c) is mentioned as an alternative acid (they mostly use citric acid in the thread) and my recent readings on TSNA reduction says that ascorbic acid is a very effective method...I love it when two things get done in one step.

What about this notion of transparency? How much does that matter? How much information should be disclosed?

Personally, I like to know what method of extraction they use. I want to know if it's done in house. I want to know if there's anything TA involved. I don't really see any harm in a vendor sharing this much.

I'd also like to know what leaves they use, but that's just curiosity and I understand if they don't want to share this.

On the notion of transparency; most only want to know the type of extraction, which types of Tobacco or some thing as simple as PG/VG ratio, the last of which, a certain Vendor refuses to disclose:blink:. Most don't care about the exact process of extraction but may have a preference for a particular method, such as cold or heat extraction.

gt types faster than me :toast:

Much prefer the warm, tight draw of the iclears. Dual top coils -- there is no substitute!

And I get better flavor out of them the Protanks, too.

Are you taking 16 or 30? I like the draw/flavor/vape from the iclear16, but they all leak on me (center post to battery). No leak problem from the iclear30, but it has a slightly looser draw and muted flavor IMO. I still use the 30 though when I'm in a chimney mood.
T2 is still my choice for tight draw/good flavor/warm vape/no mess.

On the NET topic, I tried my 1 month steeped bottles of QnJ Proudest Monkey and Grandpa's Nightcap. Both were good flavor, but left my lungs feeling heavy (as a lot of these NETs do).
I did add MOV Southern Gentleman to my fav list. Very nice alternative to Legend for me. Completely different flavor, but the same balance of sweetness to flavor.
I'm also revisiting some HHV juices. Sludge is on deck. Raisiny... Heh.

Trying all of these juices has left me wondering about HHV's extraction process. Has anyone seen any details on this. I assume they use a cold method. Most of the NETs that claim to use fire curing don't sit we'll with me.

A certain vendor has never gotten a dime from me for just that reason. :D

Does it matter if the extracts are done in-house?

Not answering for jefsview, I had the 16's and they performed well for a short time, my problem was the top coil always burned out after 2 or 3 refills. I never burned them below 1/2 tank or used more than ~4.5 volts, my supervisor liked them so he inherited 2 tanks and 4 additional coils.

I like the T2 more than the T3, I never have flooding or dry-hit issues, like with the T3, and they're easier to fill for older eyes.

They're not my sore spot, mine also sells Candles ;)

As long as the juices are good, I don't care if it's an in-house extract.

BTW, good to see you Mann!

I don't either. Good liquid is good liquid. But, this always tripped me up about Vermillion River and others like them--some people don't think they should be considered a legitimate NET vendor because they buy their extracts 3rd party. I don't see what the issue is. There was a time when I thought it mattered, but the truth is, like I said in my blog, many of these vendors are buying these extracts.

I think it should only matter if the vendor is buying the extracts and letting their customers believe they are doing it themselves. That would be a lie by omission.

The good thing is I plan on hiring movers, have little possessions (Couch, king bed, tv, tv stand, computer, desk, coffee table, night stand, dresser, kitchen incidentals. But my full 42 gun safe is the wild card. I just know they're going to charge hundreds extra to move that. Luckily the apt is on the ground floor, so I don't have to pay even extra for them to get it up stairs. But does an elevator count as stairs? Hmmmm. I have seen some reviews of the apt complex that says it's not quite up to par for the price. But I'll decide that on my next visit talking to residents. If they say look elsewhere, there's another kick ... apt with the same amenities. Just the units aren't quite as nice. Oh well, apt living is all about compromise. I just can't freaking wait to get my gun safe out of the humid garage and in to an A/C'd apt.

Sorry to go off topic again, but the apartment I decided on; I'll be on 4th floor. But there are elevators and no extra charge for gun safes up an elevator. Oh. And the Houston Ice hockey team lives there. You know what that means. :D

And Jerms, I'm least excited about H1N1, too. But his description really makes it sound different. I'm looking forward to CLS and Creme Brulee from Nico-whatever they're called.

As far as transparency goes, if I ask a question: be honest and answer the question.

If you say your tobacco juice is all natural or organic, state if it's a NET or TA or just flavorart or whatever it is. If a customer asks if anything else is added, or the flavor is naturally occurring during the extraction, just be honest.

Just basic stuff. I don't wish to buy a juice I think is a NET and end up getting relabeled Dekang.

I find it stunningly ironic that Shat is calling on mods to crack down on exuberant new vapers, but he can take an NET dedicated thread off topic 15 different ways over 5+ pages for 24 hours.

I actually don't give a rat's patoot, to be totally honest, and I even find it somewhat entertaining and informative, but it is ironic.

Noted.

But I'm not making a thread a day. I'll lighten up on it. I got points for my BB ridicule. So the mods are getting sick of it.
