Jerms,

OK - I still may try the Hyd. Prox. on a burnt silica wick just to see what happens. I think I read someone trying it but can't remember if they actually did or just thinking about it.

I know that I have tried everything but H.P., most everything I have read here that is supposed to work and none of them cleaned anything. It is a good thing that Kanger wick five packs are cheap.

I may just have to try a rebuild-able like you have. By the way that is the nicest 28ga coil I have seen. you must have been a watchmaker in another life?

PS - I think they use H.P. instead of bleach is that bleach leaves "salts" and "caustics" behind. get either of those wet and the affect on the metal filament might not be a good deal.

The silica isn't actually burnt, black stuff on it is just juice burnt on. If you have a butant torch, that will turn the silica white. I would occasionally torch my silica wicks in my drippers if they were getting funky, whitens them right up.

Thanks for the compliment, it's actually fairly easy to get a nice uniform coil if it's wrapped on something like a drill bit or a nail. I have shaky hands and am not mechanically inclined at all, but can still make a purdy coil.

Think I will pickup one of those small butane torches. I have been wanting one for a time for some other things around the house anyway. Shouldn't have to worry about overheating a piece of silica. I think that stuff melts at around 2000 degrees C.

Check out gas stations or tobacco shops for a refillable butane torch lighter. Pretty cheap and handy to have.

Jerms,

I forgot the local Tabaco Store (AKA head-shop) has several of the type you are talking about. It is also the closest thing to a Vape Store here in St. George, UT. About all they carry is a bunch of EGO type Vapage E-Cigarettes but they have saved my bacon a couple of times when I found myself low on "e-Juice".

But they do have lots of various torches... don't know why. ;)

Jerms,

Are you saying it was blackened like a ceramic wick and hydrogen Peroxide cleaned it... white?

If so I am going to try that on the ceramic (fiberglass). I have tried the Vodka, Ever-clear which didn't work at all but never H.P. I am waiting for your answer and I will go for it if you are saying what I think you are saying.

Try polident.

Vita Bella in my new EVOD. Hey, has anyone mentioned how good this juice is? :D

Not to my recollection. But since you bring it up, it is damn good!!!! :)

I just received Dusty's hardly-used, 30ml bottle of Vita Bella today because he didn't like it. Please put this on the official Natural Tobacco Thread record...there's something seriously wrong with that boy!

Bronze,

My first knee-jerk reaction was that you were kidding, you are kidding aren't you?

It almost sounds plausible.

I do have some 40% Hyd. Prox. on hand. Fortunately no need for Polident - yet!

OK - I can take a hint. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Not kidding in the least. I know people who swear by it. Comes out looking brand new. I've never used it to clean coils or wick. I just rebuild the damn things. :)

Noted and recorded. Someone please put an asteriks next to Dusty's name.

I can vouch that Bronze is indeed on the level. It was a fairly popular practice at a time for cleaning gunky coils in atties. Never tried it myself either.

After a long steep of several weeks, I loaded a tankful of Smokin' Cherries today.

I had previously reported the cherry flavor was not "popping" enough, as in "too far in the background".
Cherry is now exactly where I had originally expected it to be. Not in my face - not over in the next county - just right.

Perhaps it was the steep. Perhaps my tastebuds are progressively defogging. Either way - or for some other reason - Smokin' Cherries is damn good.

OK Jerms,

I will try both the 40% Hydrogen Peroxide and the Polident.

Probably in the AM before I can get over to Wal-Mart for the Polident but I will let you know how it work.

I have about a half dozen coils sitting in 99% alcohol for days and it has done ABSOLUTELY nothing.

(just wish I could shake the feeling you guys are setting me up for that "Natural Tobaccos" nut list)

Jerms and I are already on the NT nut list. You'll find plenty of company there.

Even though I generally dislike moderators and other authority figures, I have to defend Dusty here. ;)

Vita Bella is mediocre, and all of you seem to have been brainwashed into liking it. It's like the Boba's Bounty of NETs. :D

"After a long steep of several weeks"

I don't know how you guys do it. My idea of a long steep is take it out of the package, shake the heck out of it, open the bottle then put it in the cabinet before I go to sleep and then give it a go in the AM.

Any longer of a wait would take the assistance of some type of Pharmaceutical patience is not my strong suit.

Just because you like Dekang doesn't make you an authority. :D

Well, once you find a juice you really like, then using a well-thought ordering strategy will circumvent impatience every time. :)
