Bill, this may be a silly question, but are you taking straight lung-hits?

Mr.M,

As I stated in my post, I never do direct lung inhaling. I don't like it, and my lungs don't either.

I take a one or two "primer puffs" (like pipe smoking) until the coil is hot and the vapor is visibly up to snuff, then I take a 3-4 second inhale into my mouth. I hold the vapor in my mouth for a couple seconds to savor the taste. Then I withdraw the drip tip, open my mouth a little, and inhale air, which takes the vapor into my lungs. That way, I "dilute" the lung hit of the vapor by using an air-vapor mix (sort of like a carburetor). I don't hold the vapor in my lungs any longer than a normal breathing cycle before exhaling slowly and naturally, getting the flavor of the exhale.

I'm amazed (and shocked) by vapers who take massive direct lung hits. I don't know how they can do it. They either have iron lungs or maybe they didn't smoke for 40 years like I did.

I read the post, thought about my experiences and then forgot what you had already said. My bad on that considering it was a silly question (seeing as you had already addressed it)..

Bill, as thorough as you are I should have surmised the amount of research and experimentation you had already done. Wish we could sit down and swap a couple of setups and some homebrews. Right now I'm running a fresh dibby crack coil, 10 wraps of Nichrome 26 g, sterile cotton wick, on a Reomizer 2. vaping Buley Delight that I extracted and all of the flavor nuances are coming through for a pleasurable vape. Hope you find the satisfaction wherever it may be and wish I could be of some help as your insights have been invaluable to me!

For your dibby, do you put the wire in the gap at the airhole side? Does it matter?

I put it away from the air hole. It seems that gunk forms wherever the air flow hits the coil most directly so my reason is to minimize gunkification. Seems to help some.

Thanks! That would be my reason to do the dibby, to use for extra gunky NETs since you noticed it stays clean longer.

Doing my first side by side testing with R41 (just playing around, definitive testing will wait until I'm not sick). One of my favorite vanillas is noticably better with Kanthal, the R41 is blocking notes the same way Nichrome does.

Some people find rebuildable drippers to be a pretty big improvement over what they've used before, some find them a slight improvement, some find them the same, and some find them a step backwards. I understand when people see so many others who get better performance get frustrated when they don't. But it's not much different when people get all excited to try Boba's Bounty because EVERYBODY says it's the best thing ever, and then feel lied to when they don't like it.

Preference in JDS is the same as preference in juice, everyone will have to find what works best for them despite what everyone else seems to like. I can say with certainty that I prefer the flavor and performance of the JDS I use, but I can't say that it actually provides the best flavor and performance.

Once an experienced vapor figures out how to properly set up a rebuildable, if their gut is telling them it's just not as good, I think the chances of that changing aren't that high. Rebuildables are tricky because there's just so many variables that can be changed for a different experience, but I think your doing everything right Bill and it's time to trust your gut instead of other's experiences.

Also Bill, I know your frustrated because you seem to prefer the performance ("impact" and "vapor" ) of rebuildables but the flavor of clearos, and want the rebuildables to match the flavor so everything is better. Maybe the Kayfun will give you that, maybe not. Maybe you haven't found the right dripper yet, or it hasn't been made yet. Maybe there's a small trick that could change things. All that's enough reason for me to keep trying, but the majority of my vaping would be on whatever device is currently giving me the best flavor.

Wonderful thoughts, Jerms. Thank you.

Although I had a phase early on with RBAs/RDAs where I got frustrated and temporarily put them down, I picked them up again and restored the fun aspect, so I'm not done with them yet. I'll keep playing with them to see what I can come up with.

Usually I'm good at taking other people's opinions with a grain of salt, but some of the RDA/RBA folks are almost as enthusiastic in their fervor as the some of the more evangelical REOnauts, so you've reminded me to maintain my independent perspective.

Every JDS has strengths and weaknesses, and I'm likely to continue using many of them.

If you're ever on the Oregon coast, be sure to come to Florence for a visit. We'll have a heck of a time.

Yep, as you've taught me, keep the hobby fun instead of frustrating. Normally I'm not into messing around with different builds much, but right now I'm in the mood and it's been fun. When I get tired of it, I'll put the new stuff away and stick with my ol' reliable build until experimenting sounds fun again.

And of course any day now the next evolutionary JDS is just around the corner that all the kids will say is the bestest thing ever and makes rebuildable drippers and the Kayfun obsolete.

My 101Vape parcel seems to be lost in San Diego -- tracking hasn't moved, and it's suppose to be here tomorrow :-x

But.. I just want to say: Shatner -- ANALOG -- thank you for placing that in my hand!

GeJ has a winner with ANALOG. It just works, reminds me of smoking, yet offers me enough otherness to keep wanting to vape it. It's all there: flavor, throat hit, vapor and performs solidly!

I really love the want2vape Ry4
not all the time but its a really satisfying relaxing vape

although I think this one may have been intended to vape right away
unfortunately I let it steep for a month before I tried it
it was perfect then

but now after another month and a half on top of that as I am on my last 7 ml's
it really has lost some of that amazing smokey tobacco part

I will def reorder in the future regardless of the ridiculous shipping fee (that still urks me)

I think this one is one of the greats

and it will give me an excuse to try some other want 2 vape stuff mentioned in this thread

Really?? ... USPS Priority Mail for a small flat rate box is $5.60 .. they are charging $5.99 ... I don't call that unreasonable in the least.

I personally don't like spending $6 for shipping. If all vendors did it wouldn't be such a pet peeve of mine, but when I usually get charged between $2 to $3 seeing a jump like that is jarring. I've changed my mind on several orders once I see what they are clipping for shipping. At least W2V still has a great sampler offer that's shipped for free.

There is a jump from standard to priority naturally and perhaps they should also offer that as an option... I just don't think it is ridiculous. UPS 3 day is at least twice or more depending on how far it's shipping.

I don't think it's ridiculous either, but it is frustrating for some and often more than I'm willing to pay for a small order. All I really want from them lately is a bottle of Pure Smoke, so not worth it for me. If they offered first class which is $2.07 I would get it.

vjc,

I too have noticed the w2v RY4 seems to be something of a reverse steeper, best soon after fresh (giving the flavoring some days to a couple weeks to bloom), but in the long-term the juice goes downhill and loses its pizazz. After six months, it's a mere shadow of its earlier vibrant self, having degraded into meh.

If you DIY, there's an easy workaround: Order w2v's all-in-one RY4 flavoring from XtremeVaping (which has cheaper shipping than w2v). Get the 15ml size ($10.00) and mix it at 15-20%, but only in a small batch, like just one 6ml bottle at a time. Then you'll always get to vape w2v RY4 during its prime. If you don't vape it for some months, you can just toss whatever's left in your 6ml bottle without sacrificing much. A 15ml bottle of flavoring for $10.00 plus $3.15 shipping mixed at 20% makes 75mls of DIY juice (or 100mls mixed at 15%), so throwing away 3-4ml is no big deal to make sure you're always vaping the best w2v RY4 possible.

If you do that, might as well also pick up 3ml bottle of w2v Pure Smoke Flavoring while you're at it. Great stuff.

Yes it is the ridiculous

1st I regularly pay shipping for priority mail for my clients

but I don't expect that

but at the same time I would expect If I am paying that I would be able to choose my options

I keep enough juice around that I am never in a desperate rush
And don't feel it is right I would have to pay for the top option

I never choose the priority with any vendors unless its free from being over the order amount to qualify

If I am not able to choose the option I prefer I should not have to pay

with all that being said the juice is that good that I would reorder
But honestly I would have ordered the first time months earlier If it were not for the shipping option

Thank you I am copy and pasting for future reference
and w2v Pure Smoke has been on my list for the next order as well

I guess the flavoring is what you are saying to add to the juices Ill do that as well
