I finally got my Ahlusion order but with a twist
My first taste of Blue Grass Burley was very surprising. It's an interesting and layered vape but it was very smokey, kind of campfire like. I'd say to me, 80% of the taste is campfire smoke. It reminded of the Latakia component in NET.com's Balkan. From the descriptions and reviews, I imagined this is how Devil Dog would taste like. The burley in it is supposed to be air cured (I think?). How could it be this burning wood like smokey? I'm very surprised. Even just smelling the bottle with cap off it smells like liquid smoke. I'm wondering if I got Devil Dog instead of BGB...
Acetyl pyrazine. It provides the "nutty" element in liquids like 555s and such. Halo, The Vapor Station and most Chinese tobacco liquids contain it.
The question would then be: is it in Smooth Criminal? Dunno, but I thought it was very astute of Sharon and Papa to notice the element, even if it's not exactly what is in it (meaning AP). Props to you two. It is very subtle to me and I don't remember if I brought it up to Wlad or he first brought it up to me, but I do know it is very much just an "accent"--when I do notice it--to my palate.
That's close to my first experience with BGB too. That was when I was just starting to get into NETs and it was my first strong tobacco NET. I was floored, felt like I was burning real tobacco. Intensely smoky and even ashy is what came to mind, but I really liked it. Strong NETs like that pack a whollop, but after I had more experience with them I adjusted and experienced it different. I suggest for someone who first tries that kind of NET to take it slow if they find it too intense by doing a short session with it once and a while to acclimate to it.
I haven't had BGB since that first bottle, though I really should pick one up soon. I've been slowly making my way through the aro line. I don't remember if it still had a smoky aspect after I adjusted to it. The other Burley aros like Vurley and Maple Burley aren't really smoky to me. Maybe there's some fire cured Burley in BGB that I don't remember?
I've never gotten a nutty flavor, or even accent, from SC, fresh or well steeped. Vaping SC now and I can't find anything that makes me think nutty, and certainly not AP nutty which I don't like. I only have well steeped SC and very well steeped SC on hand, maybe if I looked for it in fresh SC I would find it?
I'm kind of surprised others get nutty, but glad I don't. I never got cinnamon either like many report. Or the random things like Strawberry, and certainly not meat like Cherry described lol.
BGB is definately more strong and intense than a burning cigarette. Cigs seem pretty weak to me after getting into strong NETs. Something like Sahara Blend is closer to a cig from Ahl than the aros. Even closer is cig NETs like Big Spirit from NETcom. Wrangler Light from GeJ mimicks the cig experience well too.
In terms of "smokiness" this campfire smoke aspect of it is too overwhelming for me at this stage. I tried it with Balkan, I couldn't vape it. This is probably heaven for someone whole likes that kind of smoke.
But this kind of smoke, it's not something I get from cigarettes when they are burning. Would you say your experience was similar to a burning cigarette? To me, this is like going into a smokehouse when curing bacon! Personally to me this is not the the essence of tobacco though; it's more like essence of burning wood.
I'm still puzzled about the description on the website regarding BGB having air cured burleys. Maybe they took air cured burleys and toasted it themselves to infuse the smoke part of it.
I was expecting more of a fresh pack of cigarettes kind of aroma/flavor but I was hit by a forest fire![]()

I don't get smokiness at all from BGB, but I think the very unadorned burley flavor is a completely different experience than any other tobacco vape. There's nothing to create a counterpoint; all the subtleties are lost on a first-time user because the main effect is so overwhelming. When I first tried it, I had no idea what the hell Ahlusion was trying to do. About the third time I tried it, it was amazing. What you taste as campfire smoke is the flavor of actual pure burley, with no casing or added sweetneres or flavors. It's the taste of tobacco and nothing else.
I remain convinced it is COLA
Just to be clear, I'm not saying it tastes like meat. I'm saying the flavor has a savory component like that of beef fat, as experienced in broth.

If you try to explain a taste sensation with an odd description, it will go down that it's what you taste. Trust me.. GR.. once described to me as having a note that almost brings to mind something resembling urine, but not totally unpleasant. People don't remember that, they remember that Jerms thinks GR tastes like ferret piss, which he enjoys. Pretty far from my original intent? Sure, but it is what it is, and it's a lot funnier this way.
Hey everyone! Jerms thinks urine tastes better than soup!
