So after a while I realized that the ecig is great, good flavors and an amazing activity. The nicotine allows me to quit smoking, great! Now heres the problem...

I realized that the nicotine from the hookah I smoked had the few things that I was missing in my ejuice, such as my antidepressants whatever else was in it that calmed me down. Long story short, I have no nic cravings with my ecig, but I'm an ....... without those missing elements, not to mention I'm stressed and a little depressed. Point is I tried hookah again last night and I literally got happy, couldn't believe it, its like a light switch turned on and the happiness came back. Either way I know I need what I'm missing otherwise the above will happen.

So what should I do? Maybe smoke hookah when I'm at home, then when I'm out and about and at work use my Ecig? Or should I try snus? I don't want gum disease though. Is there a way to vape snus? Like maybe cover it in some vg and vape the crap out of it? Don't know, but all ideas will be helpful. Thanks.

So, how did this hookah thing work? Did you carry one in your car? Did you fire it up in the morning? It sounds like a PITA to me.
I didn't bring it with me. I just smoked when I got off work and was at home. When I was at work I just suffered through withdraws for a while till I got off work to do it all over again.

Yep, you can vape snus. TropicalBob did a video of it.

Sounds like you're needing the alkaloids from analogs. Snus has them. I don't know if you want to read the thread Nicotine, are we getting it (or something like that) because it's fairly lenghty but it explains that cigarettes have other things that are addictive besides just nicotine such as MAOI's. Snus should take care of all of this for you without having to go back to analogs.

I've read it already, thats how I know I'm missing something, other than the fact I have personality changes. I cant see the video because of my works internet filter, so can someone tell me who actually vapes snus if they can still taste the great flavors they get from the ejuice?

Well i am not sure what is actually in Hookah tobacco but my guess with the symptoms you are describing its more like going thru withdrawals from whatever chemical is in tobacco that is not in juice.

I am the same way at times, I get really moody and sometimes depressed but the reason why i wanted to quit smoking was to do away with all forms of smoking tobacco period.

I am not sure how long you have been vaping, but like anything i am sure withdrawal symptoms last for some time. I would honestly try and deal with it. Unless you dont mind hookah tobacco then by all means, HOOK away! but for me personally, i wanted smoke and tobacco gone all together.

I have tried to quit many times before when i knew nothing about ecigs and it was MUCH harder then it is now. The withdrawals are very minor NOW because i still have nicotine flowing thru me, I am sure people will go thru withdrawals from all the other chemicals that were in analogs.

After 9 months of vaping (no cigs) I finally turned to snus to supplement vaping. I was one of the few that nicotine alone didn't work for. Upping my nic level in my liquid just made me oddly slightly anxious.

Snus works great, is inexpensive and I haz my happy back! I use 3-6 a day.

You're missing those MAOIs! I've got some MAOI/nic juice in the works, the only problem is price. A reasonable dose of a natural MAOI costs about $1/ml to add to the mix. So that would bring the price up around $20/10ml. While that's fine for researchers the price will have to come down a bit before it will probably be accepted in the market.

Until then e-cigs are the best NRT on the market today.

Well I don't have any withdrawals because hookah tobacco doesn't contain any of the additives that analogs have, although it still has the MOAI's that made me happy. So if anything at all, I'm addicted to the antidepressant found in my hookah tobacco.

Can you still taste your Eliquid flavors when you add it to the snus?

I would be the FIRST customer to run to make an order for affordable nic juice that had those MAOI's in it. No doubt! :w00t:

I understand where you are coming from. I tried snuff a couple weeks ago and that does it for me.
As far as risks go it, you can smoke the hookah, use snus or snuff, all have some risk as they are all tobacco products.
I ordered some Swedish purified snus but it has not come in yet. I plan on trying it our for those times when I need what is missing from my e-cig. For me it is times of stress mostly at work.

Yeah i understand how that feels. So what I need is a cheap snus vendor and a recommendation of what brand to get and what nic content is good. I'm vaping 16mg VG juice now so a comparable snus mg content would be what?

Why would you want to do that? This is what big tobacco did to get us all in this mess in the first place. As well as designing nicotine that crossed the brain/blood barrier intact which is all the way the heck and back away from natural!

When this actually starts happening, I will have to quit all together, not looking for another unbreakable habit.

I don't vape snus but the video shows that you soak the snus in vg and then put the little bag of snus in your cartridge. TropicalBob suggested the brand Discreet snus because they have strawberry and peach flavors as well as mint and some others. Just google Discreet snus and you should find their list of flavors. You might could mix your favorite flavor with the tobacco flavored snus and give it a tobaccoey flavor to your favorite juice.

Jake -- I read your posts on the research you've been planning and am following it with interest.

One note of possible interest: I'm on a standard pharmaceutical MAOI (started last year while still smoking), and I'm one of those people who still isn't getting enough from PV nicotine ... even though I'm taking something that is inhibiting a significantly larger proportion of MAOA + MAOB than tobacco would. My symptoms of tobacco cessation are similar to those of others who have had troubles switching to vaped NRT. I may be an outlier, but there are other non-MAOI, non-nicotine alkaloids in tobacco that must be contributing to the total effect for some of us.

One big problem with trying to add back the extra missing parts piecemeal is that very complexity. The other, equally big problem is the risk involved with adding any additional compounds to the nicotine. (I know, the herbs will all be GRAS by the FDA and acceptable for over-the-counter sale. I do worry that the FDA will cite "recreational mixing of multiple psychoactive compounds with nicotine" in PVs as a reason to construct especially draconian regulations. The FDA may just have the cojones to point out that MAOA inhibition reinforces behavioral nicotine dependency, so they'll say you're essentially creating a whole new drug.)

Those are just my reservations. Tobacco is a "known quantity" to us all, and that's the major reason why I would stick with safer alternative tobacco-based products to complete the puzzle, and why I recommend it to others. So far (a few days now) snus seems to be helping with the missing pieces -- the relaxation component. (Now if I could only get over the taste.)

Bogalu -- I highly recommend you try snus (or dissolvables, or snuff) to get your alkaloids, as others have suggested. The difference really is noticeable.

The problem with adding MAOIs to juice is tha it makes it that much more addictive. Further these 'natural' MAOIs are coming from where an rated in purity how? These are drugs that cn be dangerous in inaccurate dosages and who the hell knows what vaping them will do?

Want to have the FDA shut this industry down? Just start advertising this! I am uncomfortable with this even being posted as I am sure there are eyes out trying to see what vapers are up to!
