I have never had anyone get angry with before but I have had people look the other way as if in disgust. A lot of people may be curious and what a great device it is but for some reason stick to their analogs and won't even have a try! As they say there is nothing as queer as folk!

Not sure why I'm even in this sub forum, but, I started reading threads..... from what I've read, seems most people just want attention(good or bad) in public and to spread the joys of vaping to the rest of the world whether they are interested or not(and of course be able to vape in public). Maybe to make new friends?(which is not a bad thing)

to OP:
why try to convert people?
________ try to educate me on the concept of their Church or beliefs..... and I do not like it.
Those people that wear knit beanies in summer try to educate me on the concept of a healthy %100 organic diet.... and I do not like it.
(they're actually friends of mine, but I still don't like it)
When I did smoke, non smokers would tell me I shouldn't smoke.
I'm sure I can go on with other examples..........................................

I'm sure if a non smoker/non vaper came up to you while you were vaping and recommended a "prescribed nicotine delivery device" or patch and educated you on the benefits, you wouldn't be happy about it.(I wouldn't be, but we already know that).

Even tho they(people mentioned above in my examples) or you mean well.... they are adults "abusing" their own body.
I found e cigs all by myself.... I'm sure they can also.

I think they get offended because: you are basically telling them what you're doing is better than what they are doing.(safer, don't smell bad, healthier... not sure what you say to them tho)

Not sure where I'm going with this... mostly just wondering why people(some vapers) want to educate people that are not interested or may take offense to lectures on why smoking is bad and vaping is a better alternative.

Also, I'm wondering how you approaching these smokers?
"Hey pal, I work with you, but don't really know you personally.... but hey, I care about your health and notice you are smoking a cigarette... Have you seen these? they're called E Cigs and they are a healthy alternative to tobacco cigarettes... you should really try these out. You'll feel so much better after a couple weeks. ..bla bla bla...........etc etc "

little sarcastic, not trying to be an azz tho.

I'm a vaper..... but not the snotty kind. If I ever feel like having a smoke, I'll have one(but I'll take a shower and change clothes right after)
Will I try to convert people if they don't ask me? NO. If they ask me to get them set up, then YES... I will give them some old gear for free and give them tips/etc.

And to answer the question:
I've never witnessed a negative reaction myself. But then again, I'm not looking for negative or positive reactions.

I really loved being a smoker, analogs were my best friend, I would stand my ground and fight all those who put me down for smoking....... my choice my body my money etc etc... I started vaping because I do love to smoke I am addicted to nicotine and I dont want to quit. I no longer feed my addiction with analogs I chose to feed it with vaporizing. I now love my PVs and my new found flavors and the fact that I can have my habit and be a little healthier while doing it. People everywhere love to put up a fight against something, so yes the PVs will have thier haters, as well as everything else. I just choose to explain to those who want explanation and walk away from those who try to be aggressive downers, no one can win them all and IMO I have won the fight with tobacco so the battle with others can NOT mean more than that..

Mostly I've gotten some weird looks (with my volcano someone asked me if I was smoking "oil papers" -- which I had to ask my fiance wtf they were talking about lol) especially with my Ego-T, but no one has really ASKED about them. Not sure if that's because they are shy, its not like I live in a heavily populated area, I've never actually met anyone else who vapes in my area, though our local head shop does carry e-cigs and liquid... I don't go there simply because 99% of the time you get associated with the other folks who purchase equipment for illegal inhalation uses and I don't want that attached to what I do. I went in once to get juice for a long car trip, and the woman behind the counter was... a bit put off that I just picked up a bottle of juice. She asked me if I wanted papers or anything because "that won't work"... to which I explained that I was using my e-cig as recommended and she gave me the strangest look... but nothing negative, not yet. I've got a former smoker and a quitting smoker (mom and dad respectively) who support me 100%. My fiance's parents were curious (he, his brother, and his mom smoke heavily, while his dad is a non-smoker) and didn't give me any flak about having it, hopefully I don't run into anyone giving me crap about it!

I've found smokers and non-smokers fine - the most negative reaction has been from "born-again non-smokers" (ex-smokers) who often REALLY seem to resent the fact that I've "stopped smoking without suffering". They almost LONG for something bad to be found out about e-cigs (or for them to be banned) - I'd bet the people who are causing you trouble over in the US are mainly these "born-again" types....

THIS, exactly! It's only the ex-smokers who give me a hard time.

I really don't approach anyone. I sit off from the crowd and if someone asks I tell them about it.I also mention that since I am not putting 54 harmful chemicals in my body or into the air I am considered a non smoker.I'm a vaper. There's a difference. That's when I tell them I actually vaped in my Drs. office and she confirms I am indeed a non smoker. I have helped a few people quit by vaping and explaining it.
I really don't give a rats a** what other people think.I am a non smoker.I LOVE vaping and will quit when someone prys my Ego from my cold dead fingers.

I have had no neg reactions. My dad was thrilled I was off the "cancer sticks". I did have an annoying reaction from a nonsmoker at work who wanted to know when I was going to quit for real. I ignored the implication and told her probably never since I have food allergies and this is the only way I can have a chocolate brownie or apple pie!

I live in Tx, there is a lot of "Better than you" types around here who don't want to listen at all when you try to speak to them about anything. The women will listen, but the men seem to think it'll make them less of a man.

I once spent a week in Forth Worth as a 'tourist'...loved it there actually, but about halfway through my trip I realized I didn't pack enough underwear. Off I went on a mission to buy some more.

I found it odd that I could not buy underwear anywhere in the city. I must have gone to at least 30 clothing stores, dollar stores, general drug stores that usually carry everything under the sun, you name it! People blushed and looked at the floor as they went to ask store managers and such about the existence of some possibly hidden/unknown underwear stocks...as if it were taboo to display or discuss packages of briefs.

So...I can't help but wonder...do men in Forth Worth wear underwear?

Maybe it's all ordered online from Chinese vendors? Labelled for Customs as gift "smack" or "rolls of counterfeit bills"? :D

I'm do happy, just got done helping my dad with some stuff, was riding in his truck, he's a recent ex-smoker, (4th time he's "quit") and I was being respectful and not vaping in the truck. We get to Lowe's I hop out and pull out my PV, and he chides me for not using it in the truck. I explain I want to be respectful and he says "well .... its not like its smoke, it won't tempt me in the slightest!" Now my father, bless him, is a bit of a hick. He can build ...., repair ...., but he isn't book smart. HE knows that its not smoke, liquid being heated = vapor.

LOL, I get that one all the time from some of my friends.

One of my friends also once said, "That thing makes you look ridiculous..."

No joke, 2 minutes later a group of 3 girls walk up to me and say "Hey what is that thing?" The look on his face was priceless. I just tell him that he smokes those Fred Flintstone cigarettes now.

Remind him how ridiculous he will look laying up in a hospital bed one day dying of lung cancer while you still sit back and vape...

There is a lot of that attitude here in Belize as well. When I was a smoker I smoked lights and was always chided about smoking 'gurly' (creole spelling) cigarettes. However, most of them think my e-cig is one of the coolest things they've seen. Whenever I'm in town now the ones who have seen it will call their friends over for a demo. Most of them want one but the cost is too much. Analog's are still cheap here and shipping and customs duties are very high to have things sent here.

In my experience it always seems to gather attention and curiosity and I will gladly oblige people to have a go if they ask, but ironically it's the 'how much is one of those?' conversations that puts them off. Even on the relatively cheap SKYcig starter kit (£40 for 2 ecigs a charging PCC and 25 carts in the uk) sees them all go a bit funny and puts them off I guess... This despite the fact the prob spend that in a week on their tailor mades!

I don't ram it down their throats or whatever, but it's a mystery to me why you'd contuine to smoke when these devices are around, are affordable and have all of the pleasures of smoking but none of the harmful effects. Tis madness I tells ya.
