People get addicted to plastic surgery, body modification and tattoos too. If anything I feel sorry for her (we can quit smoking she can't go back to her presurgery self) and I don't think she deserved to be snotted off. Because she started it is not a good excuse for just being in return.
I also think its creepy and weird that he was able to give such a full and vivid description of her. How long was he staring and was he writing his notes down (or did he wait until later to do that?)
OK,
I was being nice about all the Mary Poppins stuff but now that I am creepy....
I do tend to memorize just about everything about people I have negative interactions with. It's a natural reaction that could save your life. While yes some people may get addicted to plastic surgery, the number of people that have actually been diagnosed with such and ailment is smaller then those who have Munchhausen's syndrome. This is to say that you have a better chance of dancing with the President then meeting someone with such a genuine psychological condition.
No, most people go that far, that badly, because they are shallow and see no worth in themselves or in others beyond the physical . Oddly enough they also don't seem to notice what a side-show act they have become because they can't see past their own ego. Now honestly I'm all for re-constructive surgery, even if you don't really need it. Large breasts can be nice, a cute button nose is cute and button like.
However not every idiot is the victim of some kind of responsibility negating disease. I swear is it one of the worst things about the USA today that people can't be a ....., they can't make bad choices, they can't be a spoiled brat that was never been taught to pay attention by the video game that raised him, they can't be sentenced to death for having four too many drinks and then killing someone with their car. Oh heck no they have a disease! Not their fault at all you see! B.S.
Sometimes an idiot is just an idiot. And if a person is going to insist on dragging their inner idiot across the street and bludgeoning me with it, I'm going to make them my plaything. However with the plastic woman in question, I wasn't angry, I chose to be amused instead. She wasn't sick, and she had no interest in saving the world, her only desire was to self validate through the degradation of others. She wanted to prove that she was better than anyone who dared to make decisions that were different from hers. She wanted to prove to her friend that I was a lesser being because I had a different lifestyle or had made different choices. Most of all though, she wanted to be able to put a show on for her friend and she wanted me to just lie down and take it.
She thought that because she felt superior that she was. She thought that because she was louder then I and had adopted the special chicken pose with her hands on her hips that I would just roll over and take it. She was wrong on both counts. Her kind of attitude isnt deserving of kindness or understanding. Put a pillow case on her head and a KKK logo on her chest and her attitude wont change in the slightest, just her target.
Isn't allowing someone to start an angry exchange with you ultimately allowing them to control your behavior?
Perhaps, but then isnt allowing someone to tell you how to react and what to think just the same? If youre not willing to take a stand for yourself, the default interpretation is that you know youre in the wrong. My personal philosophy:
If someone is confused, try to educate them.
If someone asks an honest question, give them your best, most honest answer.
If someone is wrong, try to help them right themselves.
If they are mistakenly aggressive toward you, try to help them calm down and find out why.
But if after all that they still ball up their fist and swing,
By all means, break their arm.
