Of the threads I've seen, that really hasn't happened. Although, of the threads I've seen, it's always a "Renaissance Man" type that has tons of hobbies and really worries about his health, just wants to "kick" something be it hookah (that's one I remember well) McD, and whatever.... Also, they always state they are not from the US. They tend to be young. It is kind of a pattern, and if often if you say no for a long time, they will come back and "add" information.

Maybe this young rower will reveal that when he binge drinks, he hookahs, or something? Nothing surprises me in this world anymore, these days.

I don't put ANYTHING past certain anti-vaping people, but it's really a waste of time. I will spend a lot of WORDS telling someone that they shouldn't do something, LOL.

Maybe these type of posts are real, or maybe it's just someone getting their jollies posting a question knowing full well how people will respond, and sitting back reading the replies and giggling.

Without knowing for sure who and what they are here for, it really is difficult to know unless they respond. I've seen these threads go on for three, four, five pages and more sometimes. Folks read the first post and respond.

Best to just walk away if the OP seems to be vacant from the thread.

I was avoiding that term, because there is really no evidence showing that is what's going on. New members are an unknown entity, and they could be for real. It is looked upon unfavorably by the staff when members dogpile on a poster without justification. Best to just walk away...

Far be it from me to advise you what to do. If you find, as a rower, that the inhalation of heated propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin into your lungs to be an advisable course of action then, by all means, do so. If opting for the occasional half bottle of vodka, I understand Tito's is rather fine.

My first question is what is rational for wanting to vape? Why would you want to do it? Are you trying to impress some one, trying to look cool or is it something else? If it is because you like taste then there are better ways to get that. Gum or candy tastes much better than any vape flavor. Some vape juice is ok, but never compares to the real thing.

There is simply no good reason to just start vaping out of the blue, especially for an active 18 year old. Just don't do it period.

As far as the health risks, we honestly don't know yet. And that is the largest controversy in vaping. It is a large unknown factor to it. We used to think there were no downsides, no we are finding out different. It is still much better than smoking though.

As for mcconalds, your 18 and active, eat as much as you want. You will burn it off I am sure. Just don't try it at 40 lol. I don't suggest drinking either, I wish I never went down that road either. It didn't destroy my life or anything, but I certainly could have done without it.

As a general rule, I always advise non-smokers not to begin vaping. Although considered to be much less harmful than smoking tobacco, there could be some potential health effects yet to be determined.

Having said that, there are some special situations where vaping might be benefitual for a non-smoker. For instance, my non-smoking daughter (18 years old at the time) wanted to begin vaping. She had observed how vaping got me off of a 35 year tobacco habit. Nearly all of her close friends (including her boyfriend) were smokers, and when hanging out together they all smoked except her. However, she was being tempted by peer pressure to become a social smoker to fit in with her friends. She believed if she began vaping no-nicotine flavors, she would be far less tempted to take up smoking.

She did in fact begin to vape socially, and many of her friends (including her BF) switched to vaping instead of smoking after being exposed to vaping. At times she does vape while studying (with 3 - 6 mg nicotine); she finds that the small amount of nicotine helps her to concentrate.

My 21 year old son began smoking a few years ago. He ignored my pleas to stop, or at least switch to vaping. Only after his sister and their friends began to vape did he consider to switch. (My guess is it wasn't "cool" to vape unless his friends and sister were vaping, too.) A few years later he is now a non-smoker and a full time vaper.

My nephew (18 at the time) was also a non-smoker, who wanted to begin vaping for no specific reasons other than it seemed to be "cool" and he was looking for a new hobby. He spent quite a bit of money on gear and liquids for about a year and then lost interest.

I'm a 18 year old boy, I do a lot of sport, specifically rowing. I train 7 days a week, sometimes more than one training per day. I've never smoked cigarettes, and never will. Want to try vaping, ...
Really foolish of you. Spend your health on something more enjoyable. Just a reminder - for everything you enjoy you have to pay with your health.

Fully agree!

Strange decision of a sportsman with 7 days a week trainings.

Whether it a wish to look modern and stylish? Hmm..

Vaping is a cult, with its' own culture and possibilities, but for school guys, who've been in tobacco army for years not for people, who hates it and hadn't tried at all

Be with us, be in a loop! https://vapepath.ru

Anyone remember this video about a month of McDonalds? (now it's behind a pay wall on YT, but it was a classic)

I do not believe somebody do enjoy rowing.

Yes.. you can very much enjoy rowing.

I used to enjoy working out back in the day. Two hours a day - one hour in the morning when I woke up (instead of coffee) and one hour in the evening - every day of the week. And that was just generic exercise programs. It was my high, my fun time.

Rowing which is a sport, is going to be very similar in nature, but a lot more social so more fun generally speaking.

People really do enjoy such activities. You should try it. Once you get over the initial pain of getting into shape, it's a high. Quite literally as it causes a release of endorphins.

May be you are right. May be people do enjoy early morning activities.
I myself enjoyed something like this once. My job started at 5AM and consisted in cleaning cowshed from - excuse my French - cow's manure with a shovel. First 10 minutes were the toughest, the aim was just to stay alive despite a smell. But after 10 minutes the smell dissipated and I enjoyed exercise and warm aromas produced by cows in a homely cowshed.
So, yes. It looks like you are right.

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies in this thread, I don't even know where to start.

Seeing that most of your replies are advising me not to start vaping, I think that the most reasonable thing to do it's not to start vaping (even that I still want to do it, but .... it, my health is more important).

Sometime I wonder if these kinds of threads are started just to see if we are trying to convince kids to pick up the habit. Makes me wonder who is behind it.

If the young man is really wanting us to say it is OK I think he has found that we won't do that. Vaping is a miracle for those of us that couldn't quit smoking any other way. We know that vaping is safer than smoking but not smoking or vaping has to be better for most folks. If I were giving advice mine would be don't do either if you can avoid it.

Behind this post there is only a young men from Spain that knows little or nothing about vaping, and only wants to gather some first-hand information from people who vapes to help me to make a choice about vape or not.

18 and asking permission on a forum to vape as a never smoker...OK. What's more important to you, your health, or blowing some silly puffs of vapor?

Seriously, do whatever you want, it's your body and your life, and at 18 you are at the age of consent most places. If you notice that vaping impairs your cardio, then what?

I'm not asking permission to anybody here, and if it seems that I'm doing that it isn't my intention at all, just want to know if vaping is a "safe" bet or not.

Rowing isn't going to lenghten my time of life, I'll even say that it does the opposite effect. (If we're talking about high performance rowing).

I am very glad you came back. If it is a choice between smoking or vaping My answer would have to be by all means choose vaping. If it is a choice between vaping or not vaping I would have to say no to vaping. I believe vaping is light years safer than smoking but doing neither if possible will always be my advice to any one asking my opinion.

I smoked for 45+ years. I tried very hard to quit but sadly I was never successful for any length of time. I switched from smoking to vaping almost 6 years ago and for me it has been a miracle but at this point in time we can't say with absolute certainty that vaping won't cause health problems in the future.

as always, just my humble opinion.
