Hey all,

I know that on one of the hundred pages on the new Flux that I read about getting rid of the new taste. I just got in 2 boxes and am excited. I pulled out the top and middle plug, filled with a syringe, replaced middle plug (flat side up), inserted drip tip and was good to go - except all I have gotten is a plastic type burnt taste.

Please help! I can't find the info I read about how to avoid that.

Thanks!

Most Fluxo users are removing, or at least pulling up slightly on the cup seal. That's the piece with the two tiny fill holes. Then reinstall the middle, "donut ring", with the flat side up.

I would describe the taste as more soapy with a hint of plastic.... for the first time, from a very recent Purple Fluxo order, and I went with the conversion kit straight away and opened up the wick area on the new cap.... and got the aforesaid odd taste.... took apart, rinsed under hot water, vodka bath in ultrasonic cleaner.... noted the wick at the coil was very dark black... odd for a single fill and not vaped empty.... so burned off wicks and had the same very black crusty whatever in sections of it...would not burn off it seemed.had to work it out under hot running water..loosening the twist/braid in the wicks and massaging out with fingers (not easy to do) dryburned..reassembled and taste diminished but still very much there.

If up to it, take apart and clean and then burn of the two wicks and see if you also get the heavy very black residue, scope the wick in the coil and see if very black ... I pm'd days ago but no response as yet..... curious if you might have the same results.

I have not had this problem before and that's out of few 5 packs so far...same home mixed juice does not have the taste in other fluxos from different orders/boxes, in Boge cartos, Epower mega dual coils, with traditional atomizers...

so I ditched the cup seal and put the small inner ring on, flat side up. I started with a DT, but the case I carry in is not long enough so I have put the mouthpiece seal back on. Burnt taste is gone (yeah!), but where is the flavor? Tons of vapor. Vaping about a 70pg/30pg mix.

What ohms are your CE2's?

The burnt plastic taste is due to the rim on the underside of the cup seal being too close to the coil inside the cup. If the wicks have not become sufficiently soaked with juice before you try vaping, that rim will begin to burn. That's why most users either pull up on the cup seal, or remove it entirely, and just use the middle ring.

Strange that you can taste your juice in poly cartos yet not in the flux. I have found that the only thing a poly carto does is mute the flavor of my juice and add that poly taste to what little flavor is left. Maybe it is the poly taste mixed with your juice that you are looking for ?

My wife said the same thing about the flux and no taste but after she stuck with them awhile she realized that it was the poly fill taste that she was missing. Now she can't use poly cartos because poly fill ruins the flavor.

Shateo,

Take a look at this video, it gives a good explanation of how to do the donut mod and the reason why you might be getting burnt taste. Cutting the center out of that ring is not as difficult as he makes it but it is worth it. I've done this to all my CE2's, have not had a problem with them leaking. I always lay my egos down on the table. Fast forward to around 5 min. to get to the point where he shows you how to do this. I hope this helps.

I went ahead and switched to the vision converters, fiddly though they are at the moment, and that has had a large effect for me. Also I tend to put a drip of juice directly in the coils of a new unit during a first fill, and that helps too since I am never patient enough to fill and wait. Don't put much because you don't want to fill the cup, just very tiny drip or two, I use a thin metal needle for filling and that works well, you just want enough to soak into the wick at the top.

It is amazing though how different juice will taste from different equipment.

antfuzz, I watched the video and made the donut mod on a new CE2. No burnt flavor, but very little juice flavor. I added some juice that I rarely use because it is WAY to strong usually, and I can taste it coming through, but just a little. Like burns_erin was saying, different equipment can give different taste, I guess. Maybe next time I need to order different ohms? 2.4-2.6? I get confused on which will give better flavor or fry your battery - lol.

I really appreciate those who have been responding. I know this has all been dealt with before . . . there are just SO many pages to go through to find the insight. I have been trying to go back through them.

I like getting rid of the cap seal since I can't seem to get it to seat properly once I take it out (I tried the mod of widening where the cap sits on the wick), but I worry that the cap seal helped to keep the flux from leaking when laying on its side. I am liking the overall convenience of the CE2 (seems pain free once you fix the donut) and will keep pinging for help on getting more flavor, but I'm going to have a serious issue if it can't lay on its side (like in my car or my purse).

And I think I'll have to get away from the XL's since, with the DT, they won't fit in the little eyeglass case I have that makes a PV easy to carry around.

So, back to flavor I guess. Stronger juices? I have a bunch on hand I'd like to use . . and they tasted great until today (I thought). Different ohms? Suggestions? Comments?

Again, thanks for your patience and advice.

As zoidman posted earlier, have you had a chance to verify the actual ohms of the Fluxos you have? I suggest you check them with a multimeter. There can be a varying range of readings from Fluxo to Fluxo. The box rating may not reflect what they actually meter at. You may be getting a lot of vapor because the liquid is atomized to the point where the flavor is depleted before it reaches your taste buds. Personally, in my box of 2.4 to 2.6 ohm Fluxos, one was 2.2 ohms, one came in at 2.9 ohms, and the rest were in the specified range of 2.5 to 2.6 ohms. I use a VV device so I have know where to set the ones that are not within a specific range.

On a few I have that came in at 2.8 to 3.0 ohms. I get tons of flavor & a decent amount of vapor. On the ones with a lower ohm rating I can get quite a lot of vapor but muted flavor, a quick check to find out if your fluxo might be of a lower ohm rating is to try chain vaping it. If by the third or fourth hit, it tastes plasticky or burnt, it may be burning to fast.

Of course your juice can vary the burn rate of any cartomizer & is another variable to consider.

I wouldn't necessarily order a higher ohm rating just yet. I do suggest you have your husband verify the ohm ratings with a multimeter on all the Fluxos you have and sort them for any variance. Once sorted, you can try them based on ohm ratings & make a determination from there. I have one Fluxo that came in at 2.0 ohms that you could take one draw from, then would taste burnt on the next. I was using that on a ProVari at 4.2 volts. That's when I marked that one & only use it on my eGo since it works consistently on the eGo's output level. I assume you are using 808 batteries so that probably means they come in and average around 3.7 volts. I don't have 808's anymore so another forum member who uses them should be able to give you a better recommendation for an ohm rating suited to that type of battery.
