Just wanted to put my 2 cents in -

As I'm getting used to these little Post Buttons I'm liking them. And once you do click on one of them the choices go away except for an Undo Rating so you can tell if you've marked it already. Nice. I'll probably settle in and mostly use the thumbs up button, but sometimes it's nice to choose something more descriptive. And thanks so much for the heart button. It's really disconcerting to like a really sad post just to show you're not ignoring the situation.

Oh, and thanks Oliver for all your work on this!

@Oliver thank you for giving us the extra rating choices. The only change I might do if I could it would be to trade the "useful" button for a "sad" or "read" button if they are available because useful and informative are basically the same.

Bea, I think he has that change already in the works, see post #77 New Likes Feedback Thread

I am taking to Aluminum more with use. I think it's been optimized a bit more as it's feeling a bit peppier. I like the look of it but found myself switching back to the "regular" look as it was a bit choppy. But with that working itself out, I can see myself moving over to it as this process continues.

Oliver, thank you for putting so much time and effort into this. I know how frustrating it can be, but it's really shaping up well!

Looking forward to the Dk Alum. Not enough contrast for me with all this apparent flatness we now see everywhere on every device and even media. This rolling eradication of the graphical 3D landscape if perhaps providing some calculable performance gains server-side is minuscule in importance to the end user. In fact, to us old hands, it is monotonous in its uniform blandness and much harder on those with the less than the perfect visual acuity of the youngsters.

So it's not necessarily a criticism here rather commentary on change in general. I prefer the old standards for the rest of us to the new normal that's for all of us. Liked it way back when; like it now. Looking for the man behind the curtain to tell him so.

Good luck all (magnification on). :)

When Dark Aluminum is online I'm going to use it until I get to know it. Whether I stay or not is up in the air. I will not leave ECF Dark until then. My eyes just "feel" better here. Wish there was a windows option to make all sites dark. (yes I know I can dim screen brightness, not the same as dark)

There are browser addons like stylish that you can use to run dark themes for many of the more popular sites and social media stuff like facebook, instagram, reddit, etc

For me blocks of white on black texts will give me a headache and eye strain from the reverse of the lifelong expectation of black type on a white(ish) background. For those who like it, there should be that option. But for some of us, white on dark for more than one or two lines of type is painful.

@MacTechVpr the whole flat look has been going on for a bit and like others, will eventually fall to another "faddish" look. In truth those issues are, for me, secondary to simply being able to quickly and smoothly load and display stuff that I can easily read.

Just throwing this out there and I haven't poked around to see, but has everything been fine browser wise? No issues between say Chrome, FF, IE/Edge?

Edit: never mind, just did it and all looks OK on all 3 (looking at Aluminum only) but didn't try posting, upload image, etc, just toured

I'm still having trouble with simple search (adv ok) as it returns a result then goes into a page crash loop. Might be due to my legacy Safari (pre Android flatness). More and more sites don't pass SSL muster or get squirrelly with it. Guess it's bout time to choose security over form/function and bite the bullet on the OS up. Sooner or later ECF won't work with it. But meantime would love to know if there's a fixer in the offing for the search time being. Hope it's not just me and these old bones.

Good luck. :)
