That's so very nice of "You" to say, however not going to worry about to much since I usually visit ECF on a laptop using a couple of Ad Blockers and not a "Smartphone" . . . ;)

In reality the AD problem actually effects all the other people who Do Not have any other options to block ADs and only have their "Smartphones" to access ECF . . . Worse are those people who don't have unlimited internet/data plans and have to pay to have them all downloaded when they go over their limits . . . :(

Doesn't Tapatalk make reading the forum on a phone a lot easier? No ads popping up, but I'm not sure how much of your data plan it will suck up.

I am not adapting well to all this. It is just too different to be comfortable anymore. Thought I would be ok. Posting on threads used to be like small comfy meetings in a nice quiet room with friends. Now, it seems like having a meeting on the sidewalk or in the middle of the Wally world. Odd

Try the Brave browser. It has a built-in ad-blocker.

Well - Honestly I wouldn't know . . . Never used "Tapatalk" (and won't) . . . I use the Chrome browser . . . BTW: Not really worried about Data Plan personally - I just mentioned it for all the other ECF Members, especially those without unlimited data access . . .

THANKS - for the suggestion, I will give it a try and see what happens . . .

I switched back to my fave ECF skin as soon as Oliver brought it back. I do visit the Al once a week or so just to see what's going on and then switch right back to ECF. I'm going to stay here until they close the bar, turn off the lights and kick me out. :)

    That's exactly how I feel.

What I'm seeing here on this thread seems to me a tad better in terms of legibility than other threads. Quoted text is somewhat darker and looks larger although likely the same font. Round avatar mask no likey. The larger old square block (with some context) was more attractive, I think. Unless you happen to like your image on a dime. The green radar button, availability I guess, is far less functionally than the information block it replaces (as seen here, to the left) which at least gave some clues as to experience, personality, familiarity with the forum, etc. suggesting how to respond in some instances. Form and function, I say.

    Good luck. :)

p.s. Heading back to my dark parlor.

There's a barely visible down arrow next to the member name. Click it, and all that info is there.

Goin…ah, there it is! Time for some pruning. Thanks.

This little snip is elegant. New look is def a lot less cluttered. Personally do like the minimalist approach in general. I just wish I could see half of it.

    Good luck. :)

Ahhh, "a whiter shade of pale"? :)

Function and form, say I. My main gripes are about functionality and readability--user friendliness, if you will. I mentioned them before. I'll speak my piece one more time--for the record, and then I'll forever keep my peace.

    1. Navigation. When I log on, I do three things--check my Inbox, my Alerts and then go to my Watched Threads. All three are there on my old toolbar, clearly visible, one simple click or a hover takes me to the content I want. Not so in Aluminum, which I find a lot less convenient. What used to be one click, now is two or three clicks away.

    2. Visibility and readability. ECF skin is tighter, the shading provides more contrast, quoted posts stand out (even though I was never a fan of that pumpkin hue ;)), the font is darker and thus easier to read, there are no large grayish empty spaces everywhere, the size of members' info (left) and the text box are just right, my personal info (on the right side) is properly sized and provides the information about me that is rather useful, etc. Somehow, in Aluminum, everything still seems to be floating in that vast, pale space, without a focus, not really anchored properly, for lack of better description.

    3. The blinking green dot is just mildly annoying. Sorry. Why does it have to blink? I can live with that.

    4. Round avatars are not my cup of tea... I'll live...

I've stated the same thing elsewhere.

You can also adjust the width, causing the content to take up more of the page.

Ugh. Didn't start doing that until I moused over it. Then it started that "pulse" thing. Yup, that has to go.

I would really like to see the poster's location right up front rather than having to click the down caret. Recommendations are a lot harder when you don't know where the poster is from. Yes, it might be only one click away, but those clicks add up, and it's frustrating suggesting something that isn't available where they are.
