Ahhh, "a whiter shade of pale"? :)

Function and form, say I. My main gripes are about functionality and readability--user friendliness, if you will. I mentioned them before. I'll speak my piece one more time--for the record, and then I'll forever keep my peace.

1. Navigation. When I log on, I do three things--check my Inbox, my Alerts and then go to my Watched Threads. All three are there on my old toolbar, clearly visible, one simple click or a hover takes me to the content I want. Not so in Aluminum, which I find a lot less convenient. What used to be one click, now is two or three clicks away.

2. Visibility and readability. ECF skin is tighter, the shading provides more contrast, quoted posts stand out (even though I was never a fan of that pumpkin hue ;)), the font is darker and thus easier to read, there are no large grayish empty spaces everywhere, the size of members' info (left) and the text box are just right, my personal info (on the right side) is properly sized and provides the information about me that is rather useful, etc. Somehow, in Aluminum, everything still seems to be floating in that vast, pale space, without a focus, not really anchored properly, for lack of better description.

3. The blinking green dot is just mildly annoying. Sorry. Why does it have to blink? I can live with that.

4. Round avatars are not my cup of tea... I'll live...

I do see your point now and far better than the shading issue. The transparent utility of those three right-side roll-over pull downs, member-inbox-alerts, is evident. We've grown so accustomed that we obviously take it for granted. When is something indispensable? When it just works.

Good luck. :)

Couple of weeks ago there was a thread (now closed) about back button/refresh page not working - it seemed to sort itself out for 10 days but since yesterday I've got the problem again - anyone else ? I know @mattiem was suffering as well.
yep, it started for me again yesterday. I have noticed also that the normal ads don't seem to be showing up so think maybe it has something to do with that. It seems to me that something wants to load but isn't doing it thus the page doesn't finish loading. That is about as technical as I can get :D

Last time it didn't happen to threads but I see it is happening there too, this time. :(

I went back to the old E-CigaretteForum theme for a while and the same thing happens there as well. I have found that 5 or 6 presses of the back button spurs it into action.

I still use the old theme. Sometimes some of us older folks don't accept change very well so I am Thankful that this option is still available. :D

I have noticed that the threads fully load now so the refresh button is working on them but still not working on the main pages. Ads are still not loading so I think that is hanging the page up. Hopefully that problem will get fixed quickly as I assume that is how most of this forum gets paid for. The back button works but has to be clicked twice to go back one page.

I've stated the same thing elsewhere.

You can also adjust the width, causing the content to take up more of the page

Right, but it also creates even more pale unused space everywhere... Anyway, I just feel like I'm reading YouTube's comments section rather than my beloved ECF. ;)
Ugh. Didn't start doing that until I moused over it. Then it started that "pulse" thing. Yup, that has to go.

:D TY

I also have an occasional problem with that little arrow on top of a quoted post that's supposed to take you to that post in the thread. It gets sticky and refuses to cooperate, so I have to read back to find it--impossible if the quote is from another thread. But I'm sure it's only a temporary glitch, so I'm not complaining. Just reporting. :sneaky:

OK, look at your name in the quote I included above my response. There is a tiny little upwards pointing arrow following the words yiddleboge6 said: Clicking on that arrow should take you to the original post.

I just discovered by accident that the up-arrow wasn't taking me to the post, and seemed like it was doing nothing. I happened to hit refresh after clicking the arrow, and then I went to that post. So it seems it's not auto-refreshing after clicking the arrow (or some-such). Could just be the laptop I'm on ATM <shrug>.

Aha! You're right. Odd. Not the laptop--same thing is happening here on my PC. Only works after a refresh.

Strange....the little arrow is working just like it always has, for me. Seem like there are still a few little "sometime glitches" that come and go to be worked through.
