i would ask joyetech myself wether the claim of the supplier is true about a new control head, if i had any interest in an evic.

Edit*** Maybe they're adding an mp3 player/weather station/GPS, so you can track what music you're listening to and what the weather is and where you are and plot that against how many times you use the device.

I considered that, but I thought it was a software limitation, not hardware.
if its a software type of deal, it should just be fixed with a new firmware.
I sure hope they're improving the quality of the top cap...press fit is just not sturdy enough.
It is, but maybe they'll jump up to Janty MiD levels before the MiD is released, allowing stacked batteries to pump 24 watts...
Even if the jailbreak or Joyetech push it up to 15 watts, that's still on the weak side for a dual-coil... Just about right for twisted coils.
Funny you should say that, and maybe you've already read about it here - evic disassembly. This was discuss on the VP Live Team broadcast (i think that's the one) this last week about hacking into the evic software and hardware to reverse engineer and possible hacks. They discovered an 8bit chip (or something like that) that has the ability to play mp3s and wav files.
LOL, no I hadn't read that. Don't get me wrong, I like the eVic, but I was just trying to think of the silliest, yet plausible, things they could be doing.
Come to think of it though, maybe their intent is to have the eVic play sounds in the future, like "The Crown" is purported to do. Maybe some warning when it gets too hot, or if the battery level starts getting too low, that sorta thing. Maybe you can customize the sounds too, like "Smoking in the Boys Room" when you turn it on, etc.
Man I just got my evic about a week ago, I was hoping all upgrades would be software so I wouldn't have to buy new parts for it...I guess my only complaint is the V/W limit, if that's a software fix I will be happy.
Asking for 23watts out of an 18650 is a bit overboard.

I'm happy with mine as is. I vape around 7w and usually with standard tanks/clearo on the go. Any updates will just be icing on the cake and a newer version isn't on my wish list.
So I wonder if this is true or a shady vendor making excuses why he doesn't have stock? I'm on the list for the next co-op....
A guy brought one into the e-cig shop last night for an exchange, he said the top fell off.
