I'm going to try and film a DID setup tutorial tonight to assist new genesis users. I'm going to include my methods for wick rolling/oxidizing, coil wrapping, hot spot trouble shooting, and some other general pointers. Is there anything in particular that people would like me to include?

Awesome deal. Thanks in advance. Include in the steps on how to make vapor like this and im set. I ordered the .20 wire last night to give it a shot. Mine is working well but not that well.

My pleasure! In my setup video, I'm going to film the actual tutorial using 32g kanthal a-1, just b/c it's the most commonly used resistance wire, though I'll edit in a segment at the end where I demonstrate a 30g kanthal a-1 or a 32g twisted coil, which is my personal preference, to show off the DID's maximum vapor production output capabilities ;)

SWEET!!!
I want to see it all, from start to finish, Where the 0-rings go, how to Jack Frost, tobacco paper, clear on through to the 1st puff.
Troubleshooting:
1. when the flavor doesn't hit
2.. when the vapor doesn't hit
3. bright hot spots
4. to double coil or not to double coil and how and why
5. to double wick or not to double wick, and how and why
6. high nuts, low nuts, and why
7. your skype help hotline number

I think that about covers it lol. In other words, whatever ya gots, we'll watch it.
A step by step, from opening the pkg to the first puff, without assuming we *know* anything whatsoever, would be a fantastic addition to the total newbie's library. The troubleshooting would be great for everyone at one time or another, that's a given.

RW, just make sure to not take anything for granted when speaking to us (newbs). Like earlier, I needed to know if the wick should not be touching the bottom; I only thought it shouldn't because I have been on the HoH thread and Mike talks about that stuff. Oh, and if you could include close-ups of what you're doing? All too often I see hands moving but not really the actual set-up being set-up. That is why I like watching Scott's videos, though I think there is still more on the information side of things that I am not getting via his vid.

something to keep in mind about Cholo's videos

1) lighting

2) when you do back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back (get my point?) hits on a genisis the vapor and wicking are pretty much peaked out and stay there. If you take 3 spaced out hits, set the PV down, repeat, you're not going to get the same results no matter how 'perfect' your set up is. Its just the physics of the situation, more heat means faster capillary action/wicking and more vapor

3) notice how he holds his PV? that also optimizes wicking. Nothing against him but the one coil/wick set up of his I saw...well, I'd expect it to not work so well for something that doesn't vape horizontal...

Thanks for your anticipated effort. What might be helpful for some is a small commentary on the significance of 'break-in' and genesis vaping styles, i.e., primer puffs, etc.

Rebuildable atty noob alert....

So I'm going to be ordering a DID (or 2 or 3) and I'm wondering, is there a way to keep these from leaking out of the wick hole when they are turned sideways or upside down? I need these to be travel friendly. I spend a lot of time on the road and with my kit in a case in my pocket.

Do people typically fit the wick to the exact diameter of the wick hole? Do you put something like silica in the center of the mesh wick? Pardon my ignorance.

Day two with y DID and things are slowly improving. Tried the cigarette paper trick and it worked well. Two things I find very important are to make sure you have a good connection to the positive brass nuts and, since it takes a couple of seconds to get the coil really fired up due the the width of the coil, you really need to re-learn how you take a draw. I hold the button down for a couple of seconds before taking a hit and then use a primer hit and a long slow draw. Vapor really improves doing this.
I think the positive connection could be redesigned better. It's a pain trying to get the two nuts tight against each other and maintain a close (but not too close) connection to the coil.
Just my two cents!

Go for it, they're great! I use a fat wick (width of the hole) and keep the fill screw in. The only time I've had leakage is if I leave it on it's side over night (very little and only into the top cap - didn't come out the air hole). Never had a problem carrying around in my pocket or leaning over in the coffee holder in my car.

Glad to hear day 2 is going better :) On the upgraded nut thing, Jim will be carrying SS pin and nut setup (should be similar, if nit the same as the Mini top setup) maybe this week.

Do you put any kind of other wick material in the center of your SS mesh wick to keep the liquid from leaking down the center of the wick?

Nope. Some folks dual wick with a skinny one inside the fat one, but I just use one.

On more thought, I don't have it pointing downwards in my pocket either.

I am reading some frustration from the new users, and many questions that have been answered many times before. Let me just say, don't over think, don't sweat the lack of taste, don't even sweat the shorts. We, who have been using this device for some time, have had the same problem early on. You will catch on. Just keep using and tweaking. It is NOT a design problem with the DID. It is just the learning curve. The first two weeks, I kid you not, I built 200 hundred coils. My wife says the adjectives coming out of my mouth were some of the most offensive she ever heard me say, and that is after 37 years of marriage. I complained about everything, including the country of Greece, (Jim, I was a slow learner, little did I know of the pleasure ahead your device has given me :) However, in the following 4 weeks, I have built only 2 coils, and am still using the second double wick I made. I am just trying to reassure you, it will click in one day, and you will know it! In the mean time just keep experimenting with everything to find the sweet spot. I thought it was still a pretty good vape even with shorts and juice exploding sideways when I had my problems. I am commiserating with you and not trying to be preachy. I wish all to find that perfect spot, which I know you will, and hope your early frustrations vanish quickly. If I can do anything else to help, please don't hesitate to contact me. Btw, Rwechsler is going to do a video, and he is an absolute expert in these matters. Make sure to watch his instructions, I know his vid will be loaded with great pointers.

Thanks for that. I know it is me and not The DID, but reading your message is probably the most helpful info I've ever gotten. I view The DID as an instrument: It takes practice! And defeat is only possible if given into. Thanks for sending us a commiserative shout-out!

I use a 30x40mm mesh rolled over the allen key, no leak ever. Just make sure you put the screw in the refill hole, I had 3 leaks from there because I didn't put the screw back.
