This makes me so angry :grr:
Or better say, so, so sad...:(

REMOVED LINK PER JIM'S REQUEST

Anything can be done about this?

Lookout, I'm on a roll now. This sort of thing infuriates me. Truth be told, it should infuriate all Jims friends and loyal customers. Then it should irriate all other vapers too. Here we have Jim, putting his money into this venture and the Chinese come swooping in to steal his design and sell for on the cheap. Everyone on all forums talk about not wanting to buy chinese attys anymore. Well what do you call this.

Futher more, its not just the Chinese, its alot of countries too like Korea, Japan, etc.

IMO - anyone with any kind of integrity would not buy these types - ripoffs - attys. I dont want to hear how people dont have alot of money and they cant afford a DID. Well they certainly afforded cigarettes and I know what those cost.

Not only is it happening to Jim, GG's are even worse. Lots of people are copying Imeos designs and selling on the cheap. Yes we know who is buying same as Jim knows from reading threads. I hope all the people that put money in the pockets in the knock off artists are happy. They certainly wouldn't like it if it was them that had a product and was being copied.

GG's aren't going to be lifetime guaranteed anymore unless original owner and can prove they bought it from a supplier. There is someone even on UKVapers making GG parts and selling them. Yes people from ECF and are customers of GG are filling his pockets for the rip-offs.

No integrity anymore that I see. Now I've vented. It's truly a shame. Whats really a shame is there are people on this forum that will run over to that site and buy one. I just hope it falls apart after they get it. Same as that other that is being sold in a co-op in another thread.

AND while I'm at it, I have been accused of having alot of mods, so I must have alot of money and can afford these things. Well, I work two jobs so I can afford these things and my dogs too. If I did not work two jobs I would have 1 DID and probably 1 PV to put it on. and 1 dog instead of 4. So by working 64 hrs a week, thats how I do it.

@Dspin: Wow, you are on a tear...

All good points. Unfortunately for the folks running around the back, they will never get the feeling of community that folks who have gone through this together do. Kinda the same as a "kit car" will never feel as good to drive as a production AC Cobra. May look the mostly the same, but they'll always know it's a knock off...

Fat Albert used to say "N.C." (no class....)

dspin, I couldn't agree with you more! The best part is when they receive their "great deal" they find out what a piece of garbage they bought. Notice that nowhere does it say stainless steel. These knock-offs are probably made of the same "mystery metal" as the Vivi Novas. I own three Provari's. One of them is from the very first batch released. Never had one problem with any of them. Then I read about people that bought the cheaper knock-offs and how the top caps just fall off and the buttons get stuck. There is a difference between price and cost! Buying two lowered PRICED knock-offs (because the first one fell apart) ends up COSTING more than buying quality in the first place.
Ok. Now I'll shut up. Just gets my blood boiling .............

it will happen ! it is a matter of how much it looks like the original ,but how soon it will happen..

if your design is a good one, then copyright it.

see my avatar ?? very solid made mod,it is in its 5th version now and very highly sought after in Germany,Malaysia and New Zealand

Chinese are now making their own knock-offs of it too

I read through all the posts while the 1st co-op was happening. I just hope I remember some of the names should they ever come here to seek help with their "mini DID"...

that will force them to keep buying the knock offs,,letting them come here and helping will show them the difference of the real did and the other did.
i have two dids now and am in one those co-ops,,but at the price if they are sub-standard for vaping ?? in the trash they go

I was one of the ones who purchased the "knock offs" from the co-op's, but before I even received them, I purchased a genuine DID.

I have the opinion that once people use the chinese versions, the obvious lack of QC and overall quality of the atomizer will show itself, and drive more people to purchase a genuine DID. If someone buys a knockoff to make sure they can actually make/prepare SS Mesh wick and coils, I would personally prefer to waste $9 of my hard earned money, than $100.

You make good points dspin, and I completely agree with each one of them, but I can't afford to buy my brother, 2 coworkers, a friend, and my Dad each $100 DID's, but I can afford to buy these knock-offs to get them a usable Genesis and try them out.

That's great to hear you've got it going again. I hope your spare parts arrive soon! I feel for you, having to go without your DID as you did. :( Shoot, I get sad just at having to set it down long enough to refill it. lol. So, yeh, I guess we gals do tend to cry a lot. You're forgiven. :)
I wish I had an extra mod for the DID to send you for a backup. My old SB is on it's last legs, not much output anymore, so I just use it as a DID holder anymore lol. That's the only one DIDable in my backup pile unfortunately. OH! But I have a few extra EMDCC's I could send to you for backup. If you need them, just PM me!

Thanks but my ego mod is actually good. I put a huge copper post from the switch to to top of the battery and the other is Attached to the positive wire on the connection. I think it will out live me. Provari in 3 months and counting. Reworked the did using the top half of the broken post with nuts bottom wire runs down to the pv. Can't screw the top cap on all the was top Nuts are higher. But working great and stable.
Thank goodness I went to aviation HS.

But thank you very much.

I didn't join the DID co-op, out of discomfort for Jim, but I was very curious about how it differs or simulates, and almost joined for one. I noticed a few of the dedicated DIDers buying several of them for modifying guilt free with. Have drill will travel! lol. They're experimenting with changeable air holes, filler holes, and all kinds of fun stuff. I'll send Jim the link once I find it again. The DID doesn't need modifying, it's a great atty all by itself, but even so, some of the brainstorming and experimenting on the cheap knock-off's. Nobody likes to tinker with the originals, and sometimes they can't help themselves, not because it needs it, but because they're modders and modders can't stop tinkering with perfection!
With that said, I did join a co-op for one of the double wick ones. I have no idea, yet, who was copied, but if I like it, and if it's close to the original, I'll buy the original when I can.
There's no excuse, really, and I totally agree with Dspin. This is a common problem for everyone, everywhere, because it's not against the law in China to copy others. Designers and artists on eBay, for instance, are always being copied and sold on eBay at half the price... until you see the shipping charges lol. I really wish that all countries would make a law against copying from others.
oh! and yes, the copies are chrome covered brass and the lids aren't punched correctly, from what I've read. They have a slightly different size, and for some reason they look funny to me.
They copy brains, but not craftsmanship. Mine will be for emergency backup. God forbid if I should lose my DID's somewhere!!

Great post and makes complete sense. I agree in principle that copying a product is wrong. But there again what about the originator of SS mesh atomizers? What is the name of that guy? Imitation is the best form of flattery. I think e-vape will roll with it. He is an innovator. An inventor. A craftsman.

People know that the quality of the DID clones will be sub-par.

Unfortunately or fortunately not everyone wants to work two jobs. You appear to have a lot of anger. Perhaps consider jacking in one of your jobs and chill out a little.

More to life than money. :)

What does this have to do with the blatant theft of Jims name of device amd the copying of it. Thats whats wrong with this world now, anything goes and not many people care.
