could be just because it is thicker that it has less flex thus possibly less vibration or whatever when electricity pass through it? seem too minor for our use.

I haven't had much luck with the thicker 30 tho... seem harder to coil around. I should start using it more.

Ya know, not sure but kanthal 30, may be a bit more stable than kanthal 32. I used kanthal 30 for the first time last night. Normally, On a new coil, I have to mess around a bit with hot spots, and adjustments for the short term. Either I am getting really good at coil making, or my wick is so well seasoned it has eliminated shorting, or kanthal 30 is a tad more stable. Not sure, but I have not had to mess with this coil at all. Very stable right away!

Maybe so Wasabi. The thickness may cut down on movement.

I got my DID Mini today. Such a beautiful piece of work. I also got a clear tank... It looks great on my Ego battery with a mini ego cover... It's my first Genesis-style atty and I have spent hours playing around with it to get it to work right.

Brilliant! I love tinkering with things...

It's nearly working 100% right!! I'm only using it on an Ego Twist at 3.2 volts... I have no idea if this is the right battery to be using or not. It seems to be working alright though.

I have to hang my head in shame a little bit as I did go ahead and buy one of those knockoffs. I completely agree that it's not right that a Chinese company have used the name (I wasn't aware of this when I bought it, as the place I got it from is just calling it a Genesis style rebuildable - I also wasn't aware what it looked like, there not being a picture of it on the site I got it from at the time I purchased it... I was having a punt...) and I feel like a bit of a prat, having bought one now I know that the Chinese are calling it DID.

It actually makes my blood boil too. Especially as the DID is freely available and not one of those waiting-list type things.

To make up for it, I just went ahead and bought some SS mesh and spare nuts and bolts from Jim. I'll also be using him for all my wire and mesh in the future even though I can get it more cheaply locally.

As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to be getting a Standard DID from Jim as well. I love my Mini so much.

LOL.
So I decide to change flavors in one of my DIDs. Since I ordered ss posts and such, I'll change them right? Get recoiled and vape on.

WRONG. It was like starting my learning experience all over again. 4 tries. E error myself to death, etc. ok. Instead of throwing it, I out it aside and pull my other two DIDs out to vape on them. Try again tomorrow. Maybe I should have stuck with brass.

My stainless steel parts came in today.......I didn't have the heart to break down one of my DIDs. The mesh and coils are perfect as is. I did switch out the filler screw. Will wait until one is ready for a good cleaning to play with. I sat there looking at all 6 of my DIDs thinking surely I can spare one for a tear down.....nope I have some delicious juices filling each and every one.

Jim has got so many things right on so many levels. His concern for his customers is genuine and he keeps demonstrating this. The DID has only been around about 4 months and in that time we've seen:

Uncommon availability
The Mini
Gemini
clear tanks
SS parts
Logos and serial numbers
Different sized air holes
kanthal
mesh
expedited shipping
spare parts
prize contests
quick customer support response
Jim's availability in the forums for communication and DID-related updates and news
Jim obviously listens to us and implements many of the things we've asked for and suggested.

I'm sure I'm missing many others but the point is...in my eyes he sets a standard that is rare to see and worth supporting.

Try getting all that from cheap knock-offs.

I find myself buying things from Jim that I don't really need just to feel good about supporting someone like this. I realize not
everyone will see it this way but I do. And it just felt good saying so right now. :)

I got my ss a week ago. Didn't break any down. Today just wanted to break it down and change flavors.

If you're vaping the flavor and it's still good.....LEAVE IT! LOL. :D

All I can say crippled Did on a crap pv. Still vaping like a train. Great product.
I know I posted this already. But just making a point. Now make a pv Jim before Xmas so I can get one. No springs just a big copper bar that connects the positive post! Inside, side top magnet switch that pulls the bar away. :) then you can say Did and Pv for life.

So true Fuzz and well said.

I do think that the cheap knockoffs will introduce many more vapers to the joys of rebuildables. This can only mean more customers for people who create the boutique rebuildables in the long run. I still don't agree that directly ripping off the name of someone else's product is right, nor is it right to pass off a knockoff as the genuine article.

However, I will say that the fundamental principles behind the Genesis Atty is knocked-off by anyone who creates one. It's quite a grey area really. What it boils down to is improvement of a design I guess. Like or hate it, if the design of a Genesis is improved by copying, then great. If not. Whoever builds one, be they Chinese or otherwise is simply creating a knockoff.

I'd say to Jim. Simply keep on creating the DID, keep on developing it and you will always be one step ahead... It must be very frustrating that the Chinese are copying your design. I can see that, However, I bet that the knockoffs don't harm your business one bit. In fact, I wouldn't mind betting it improves it in the longer term. As more and more people get into rebuilding, more and more people will want the genuine, quality item because comparing the Mini DID side by side with the knockoff, the Mini DID is just head and shoulders above it in quality. For example. The air hole is nowhere near the wick. So the vape itself is compromised. All throat hit and no vapour. The threading is awful. It's just not a DID.

Back on topic.

I finally got my DID to work with no hotspots! Thanks to this thread!!! Cheers guys. The info on here is brilliant..

What a sweet little device. I love it, I love the build quality. I love it with my Kir Fanis clear tank. It's a lovely piece of kit and can see myself buying more and recommending them to all my friends. Quite simply the best piece of vaping kit I have yet bought.

Great pic there Tony

Thanks I'm on a Facebook page, of wick and wire. The group lead makes many of them I also am into photography. So I gave it a shot. I usually have 14-16 days off a month. So I have lots of time on my hands for nonsense.
Buy the way I ended up soldering the broken center pin to a wire and ran it down to the pv that I made . I'm stable now until parts I was all messed up..

This is fun, reading the various experiments with various materials. I'm tempted now to try the 30 with a 500, even though I am still under beginners luck syndrome and don't have any problems whatsover with my 32 w/400 set up. I can't believe how nicely this thing wicks! I don't ever have to tip it, not even first thing in the morning. It never floods, except when I direct drip a new flavor on the wick, and the shorts are usually just cuz the top nut loosened. I've dropped it many times. (Both the eGo Twist and the LavaTube are skinny poles that topple over easy) and dropping it does change things a bit... sometimes it'll produce even more flavor, sometimes even more vapor, sometimes nada unless I tighten the nut. Crazy how a bonk can change things sometimes for the little bit better and sometimes for the whole lot not so better.
Even so, with that said, I'm in what if mode, and now I want to try the 30 w/500. Maybe next payday I'll round up some material... Thanks for your thoughts on it! It might save me from having to tinker with it after every kabonk it takes. (which is often with me at the helm lol)

+10~!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more. I don't know which is sweeter, the DID, or Jim!! The entire package rocks!!! (DID, JIM, CS, etc)

and if I could, I would do the same... (buy things even if I don't need them, in order to assure growth of Jim's company).
But, little by little, my little stash is growing. I now own 2 DIDs (1 in mini size) and I'm so looking forward to owning more of each. Maybe the Gemini too. (why no reviews yet on the Gemini guys????). I'm like totally addicted to these things, they're such a breath of fresh air in this crazy disappointing world of cartos w/tanks and so forth. It's no wonder they're so popular!!!
