While I was watching AG was trying to make a new coil/setup but kept blowing the coil. He had a hard short somewhere. I didn't stick around too long so maybe there's more to the story.

That would be fun I just cleaned my contacts and put a new coil on as I do on my first day off. This thing hits hard.
What I would say on the show is that yes most good mods hit within 5 % of each other. Even my 19 buck ugly duck. The difference with the poldiac is that it is made to last. Some of you know I fly. The jets we fly go from 115 degrees on the ground to -65 in the air. We pressure the hell out of it. Pelt it with rain and ice. Beat the crap out of in in turbulence and an occasional hard landing. This goes on 356 day about 10 hours a day. They are built right. That's the poldiac. NASA makes rockets that are amazing but one time use do you want a temp device or a lifetime device. Plus it looks so damn good. Don't forget the ingenious simple design in spite what the dirty girl thinks. I'm a guy who flys hard rides hard. I am a true torture test. Tony vs poldiac.

I tried one more time before bed, & there is a hard short within the atty. I put it in a different mod, & I got shocked. I'm going to swap out the insulators, and see if I can get the arch out of the post. I'm not a rookie, & it was a brand new atty. I tried not to make a big deal over it, but I'm glad I got that atty, & not a noob.
We are rooting for you! I once has to use 12 gauge wire as the post . That was fun. Could be a bur in the channel hitting the center post.
Roll a piece of paper and try to slide it thru see of it snags
When I used the wire I put tape around it to insulate it.
These are just trouble shooting tips

That is real strange. Did you use a ohm meter on it . I wish I could see the vid migh give me more insight

I put it on the ohm checker box before I test fired the last coil, & it said 1ohm. The coil popped with half second pulse of the button.
When I tried after the show, I actually got a coil to glow, & then it stopped firing at all, this was when I got shocked. I put my HF Mini back on the Pv & it worked fine. It's either the post or the positive pin...I'll find it & let you know. I'm going to be all over it tonight.
Like the guy bragging about his .002 ohm coil in the New Members forum? There's a fun read. Mostly it came down to him not knowing how to use a multimeter, or a bad multimeter. But geez...

Yeah, at first I thought it might be the 32 awg but when you went to 28 and it still happened immediately I knew it wasn't gonna be easy. I have 5 functioning DIDs and have popped coils but never so instantaneously.
Tony you gotta see the replay. That was a running joke "use the ohm meter"....
Definitely interested to know what was the cause once you've figured it out.
A 0.002ohm coil is called an arc welder... I bet even Rick would shy away from that one.
The last two sub 1.0Ω coils I've wrapped (ribbon) both showed me the same "1" when initially tested on the same ohm meeter that AG used. Not 1.0 but just 1. I put the Did on my Poldiac and fired it anyways and it worked fine, but when I put the Did back on the ohm meter it read 0.85 and showed the correct resistance ever after. When I saw the "1" showing on AG's meter I figured the same thing would happen when he tried to fire it up. I have no idea why I got that weird 1 reading but it's only happened twice and both were sub 1.0Ω coils.
In topical news, I have my first ribbon-wrapped coil up and running. I'll be ready to set my new (and first) DID up with one when it arrives tomorrow. I'm at 1.3ohms. I'm burning through my old, partial bottles of "starter" juice (you don't know what you have is "bad" until you've had good) and enjoying the vape. My first Ahlusion order arrives today so then I can test this coil for flavor - after my wick and coil are a little more established.
I tried a ribbon coil for my Temon and couldn't get it working. Since the posts are all so close together it means more wraps and I'd end up with a solid band of ribbon to get over 1.0ohm. Regular Kanthal wire is working fine there. I don't know that I will even try ribbon again on it.
(Edit: I was having the same 1 reading on my ohms meter as Pete54 (my chosen wick and coil mentor) with my Temon. No shorts. It would fire. But it was too hot for my liking.)
