yes, yes, don't know, maybe

I love that the hybrid connector gets rid of the 510 and that the switch (yes bottom/lockable ;)) uses a simple screw to hold it in instead of the little clip that vexes me (I've gotten better with it but at least half dozen times have been observed by my kids on hands and knees looking for it on the kitchen floor with a flashlight....). They refer to those situations as "vocabulary lessons"
OMG!!! I gotta get one now for sure. That's great news!!! I was hoping for a remodel of that bottom delrin. SWEET!!!
Let's hope the kids don't finish their vocabulary lessons out on the street now that they're not getting them at home. :D

PUT A SATIN ON MY TAB PLEASE!! lol. Oh I wish!!!
but I'll be baaaaaack, someday, sometime, ... so hide a Satin under the cabinet for me lol.

PS. Make mine an #11. (one above and all that y'know lol)

Oh the memories of setting up my DIDs in the beginning. OK the harshness is from a short. Not sure what you are using for a wick so I will assume ss mesh. I lightly oxidize my mesh for a few seconds in a blue flame. Then roll my wick. I then wrap my coil directly on the wick out of the Atty. Once the coil is on an looking pretty I run the wick with installed coil back through the blue flame......yes the coil will glow red. Now into the DID it goes. I tighten the negative to the negative screw and then tighten the positive wire to the top. I don't pull on the wick when tightening.
When it looks great I pop it on a device with a weak battery or a vv mod turned way down and fire her up. Mess with the coil below the red one if you don't have an even glow. Continue to work down until it is perfect. Nice her up and enjoy.
PS. I find ribbon wire is very forgiving and easier to set up. SS rope with a tiny piece of oxidized mesh works great as well.

Now it takes me no time to make a wick and coil.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know about the tip where I should use a weak battery. Will try this when I get the chance!

poldiac has me stumped.

It won't fire... if i put a multimeter on the top cap and post and fire it, multimeter shows 4 volts.... but it wont fire with anything I put on it. (pretty advanced user btw...)

If your getting power with a multimeter, the switch is working. I'd look at making sure the atty 510 connector and top cap threads are clean and then look at adjustment of the top contact. The little adjustable contact is reverse threaded so twist it clockwise till the atty makes contact with about 1/8th turn from where you want it to end up and then snug the atty by tighten that last 1/8th turn.

Yea, thanks, i've had the poldi since like... late january? Tried a few atty's, new kayfun, helios, nimbus, normal 510 atty, etc... contacts are clean

are the threads clean too? I have had this with my Poldiac and after I cleaned every single thread (yes I just decided to do all, so even the threads that screw the end cap with the spring on) it worked again like before. Threads definitely matter, and the threads of the 510 on the atty matter too.

I'm no EE, but i'm wondering if there is enough ground to meter, but not enough ground to pass voltage to the positive under load? maybe it's my spring or something.

I hate springs (but know they're still a necessary evil). If you haven't already try doubling up the spring by simply twisting the spare into the current one (tightens the batt contact and like a dual-coil halves the resistance of the spring)
