Ya I understand it doesnt come in direct contact in the actual tank, I was thinking it would get juice on it up top at the screws and then there would be oxidation there on the threads and screws. I also see where Jim said =
" I make them after some people asked for (not over 5 I must say)
So next week I will have them in my site! "

So I was wondering if any where available and if he was still offering them.?

I would like to see if there is any difference in the conductivity, and if not I would rather have the SS myself,,, but if the Brass gives that much better conductivity then I guess there is a trade off, either way I would like to have one in SS & Brass and see if there is any difference, if not SS would be my choice, but again if the Brass is better then Brass it is I guess, just have to clean it well and more often so be it.

Juice does get on the upper 2 nuts. My DID is still new but I have got in the habit of cleaning the innerds when I refill my juice. I just take off the top nut and blot the other nut dry then put the top nut back on. This leaves my coil undisturbed. Also one side of the nut is countersunk if you put them on with the flat sides together and put the coil in between these the juice doesn't collect as easily. The bottom nut I did put on flat side down.
I would think that with the juice on the nuts being wet that oxidation wouldn't be a big concern. But I am a newbie so defer to those with more knowledge.

I'm not sure, but I don't think anybody was able to detect measurable resistance across an all SS device with regular meters, so that should be OK for vaping.

Some have posted about juice turning funny colors around the center pin - anybody can confirm that?

And, finally, does anybody know when/where the SS pins and the transparent tanks are going to be available?

(I don't want to e-mail Jim, I hope he comes here; I'm sure he is busy beyond our imagination)

Can't confirm any "funny colors" around the brass, only been using since Sunday and can't speak to the transparent tanks because I've been trying to learn the SS ones and when to refill, trust me you will know :).

Oh boy :(

Mine shows as shipped on the 26th, and says it's in Athens...
Mine was shipped on the 20th and wasn't in NY until the 24th, but I didn't get the USPS tracking update about that until yesterday which was the 25th. Hang in there!

P.S. Here's a (totally volunteered, not solicited, but very welcome) note I received from Jim (yesterday) concerning his concern with the Tracking methods:

Hi
I have to say that this goverment provider (ELTA Courier) at this point of our country situation they are at list desapointing to you and much more to me
I do not want the shipping process to be so hard for all of us!
One is for sure that we had only one lose in hundrents of orders
We do this only for 7 weeks now and our experience is that the center postal office here
saw those register numbers after 2-4 days
I will make an extra shipping option with TNT courier
I deal with them these days for the best price!
I know that the extra shipping cost with TNT won't charge your wallet more than 6€
The only thing I can say to you is patience!
Your DID is on it's way!
Thank you for understanding!!

How did you get the short one so fast LOL! Got 3 shorties coming, where did you get the clear tank?

No way special, just ordered from Jim through the site like everyone else.

I must say though, watching your US posts go up about packages spending time in Customs being held up in NY must be frustrating. I can honestly say, once I get the 'Shipped' signal from Jim, my items drop through my letter box in the UK, four days tops !!!!

The tank is a cut down clear tank available from a UK company called 'vapeescape'. I have put up the direct link to their web page elsewhere in this thread, but perhaps someone can find an equivalent in the US.

Looking forward to receiving my DID, one question I have is why is that center poll made from brass instead of SS ? Any particular reason ? as we know most brass will oxidize or is this a special brass that doesn't oxidize,,, I realize there is another center poll that it runs through so juice isnt in direct contact with it in the juice tank but the juice must get on this piece of Brass up top I would think. I'm just curious about this, maybe someone can chime in here and enlighten me a bit.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_brass_a_better_heat_conductor_than_steel

Is brass a better heat conductor than steel?

Yes, brass is a much better heat and electrical conductor than steel

... and from what has been written about the SS wick system, the heat from the coil vaporises the liquid as it is drawn through the 'straw'. Contact with the brass pole conductor should be miniscule.

Although I do appreciate the point and concern some may have on this topic, having already ingested unspeakable horrors from decades of analog addiction, getting a little juice on my nuts is among the least of my worries.

Honestly Brass may be for certain situations, but when you add eliquid to the equation I don't necessarily agree that Brass is better, if you take a look at another Genesis Atty that is on the market it is made from all 316L Surgical steel, and for a good reason, Brass does oxidize, I do believe there is a special Brass out though that wont oxidize as much as regular Brass. After all the investigation I have done I would prefer the all SS center pole Myself,, but I don't know how it will effect this particular unit how its made but dont think it will make that big of a difference in performance, just in oxidation, Though this DID looks like a good Genesis type of unit so I'm looking forward to trying it out to compare it with another one I have. All SS would still be my choice overall and I hope Jim makes this available and with SS nuts also, he did say he was going to do so in a earlier post for people who wanted them and add them to the website in a week.

Also remember there is lead in most brass, straight from wiki = To enhance the machinability of brass, lead is often added in concentrations of around 2%. Since lead has a lower melting point than the other constituents of the brass, it tends to migrate towards the grain boundaries in the form of globules as it cools from casting. The pattern the globules form on the surface of the brass increases the available lead surface area which in turn affects the degree of leaching. In addition, cutting operations can smear the lead globules over the surface. These effects can lead to significant lead leaching from brasses of comparatively low lead content.[8 = like on threads,

I dont want to make any big deal about this, I would just like to see a SS center pole screw myself so i could have one.

You guys can laugh about it but I take it a bit more serious myself, it was long debated in GG threads and other ecig manufactures as well, and they all went to SS for good reason in my opinion, you dont see Brass tanks on the market do you. ;) Choices are good to have for the customers who prefer SS.
