Let me clarify the word clockwise in my original post under the section THE vaping CHAMBER.
“Be aware that as the wire is wrapped around the post in a clockwise fashion (the better practice), when tightened, it will pull the wick closer to the nuts. Clockwise wrapped wire, when tightened, will be pulled inward towards the center post, instead of being pushed away.”
It may not have been very clear that both sentences were addressing the wire to either the ground or center post nuts, not the coil or wick.
“will be pulled inward towards the center post, instead of being pushed away.”
The effect of pulling inward vs. pushing away could be better illustrated if one is using a stranded wire vs. solid wire on a light switch's screw-on connector. Picture Here.
In this case, for the coil, it makes no difference whether the wire is going to and out of the wick clockwise or counter-clockwise. There will always be one entry or one exit that is in-between the ground nut and the center post, either the coil is wrapped clockwise or counter-clockwise. For example, starting from the ground nut, clockwise wrapping will put the wire between the ground nut and center post first, then come out from outside, at the top, to the center post, and vise versa, if it is wrapped counter-clockwise. In fact, every turn of the coil is in between the wick and center post.
“Clockwise wrapped wire, when tightened” not only will pull the wick toward the center post, (danger of shorting to the center post) it will also cut into the wick’s oxidized layer and shorting it to the wick, from the wick’s rebound tension. The perfect example is from sweeperdk’s first attempt photo.
Leave some room for the wire, before you tighten it or secure the wire while you are tightening it.
Since the original post was long already, I might have left out reasoning behind some of the important principles.
Hell, I'm happy to be of service. It's the least I can do to give back to Jim for putting in the hard work that he has towards making the DID such a well performing and easily accessible atomizer. He's done something revolutionary for the vaping community, making a top shelf rebuildable genesis atomizer that anyone can get ahold of without kissing the maker's ... or waiting indefinitely on a list, but by broadening the spectrum to include people whose vaping experience has been isolated to 510 atomizers and cartos, I think some level of accountability falls onto the shoulders of the experienced genesis users to help guide and inform the beginners, especially if we all want Jim to continue producing the DID's as quickly and precisely as he is.
Personally this guys vid is wrong for the did. If you really want to see, roll your coil on drill bit slightly larger than wick hole. Put coil on smaller drill bit, Stick drill bit in wick hole and attach coil. Remove drill bit, and wah lah, you should see a perfectly built coil, which will dry burn a perfect glowing coil. Insert wick, if you get hot spots, it is do to an improper wick, not problems with basic DID construction. I swear, if you do it this way with a properly prepared wick, it works great. The other plus to this method, is you can remove wick, dry burn gunk off coil, flame up wick to clean, and all is again golden. You need the bottom nut tightly locked down to avoid fluid down center problems. Just my opinion.

+1 ricklynchcore that's how I have always done mine either using a Drill Bit or a the exact size nail, its the best way to do it in my opinion, and always dry burn before adding juice to get the wire glowing perfect first.

Not trying to be smart or anything but,if you intentionally wrap it away from the nut or just adjust it above it there is no issue. There is no reason for Jim to change anything just those folks having issues just need to adjust how they do things.
