I ummmmmm have the same problem I think it will take me a couple of years to break even. Don't forget to add in the savings your friends have got from quitting smoking. So my annual cost for smoking $1800 then I have to multiply that by 11 (# of folks that quit smoking directly because of my influence .....now I have $1800 x 11 = $19180.... now I feel good about my spending. Actually I am moving strictly to rba's and have 6 DID's because I like to switch out flavors throughout the day. I have a lifetime supply of mesh and kanthal and am doing DIY juice except for an occasional treat and purchasing 2 juices that are so delicious that I can't possibly create anything that perfect. Those 2 juices I stocked up on during a great sale.I think I have enough nicotine to make 10,000 Gallons of juice.
My lab area worried my house cleaner lady ....I think she was worried that I was making drugs. She actually.lay called me at work to as what exactly was all my stuff for.
6 DID's. Wow. You should have won the contest. Really. I got a kick out of your post. Might see you at E.C.A. (E Cigs Anonymous). :toast:

Yes, it's the new Smoktech VV Gripper. Noticed the ohm readings are sometime inconsistent with my DID as well (but seem fine with regular cartos or 306 attys). I'm wondering if my center pin being pulled in to allow the DID to sit flush on my Provari are shorting the negative outer ring of the connector (the + pin in the Gripper is pretty wide)

exactly what i was thinking, probably should check it out.

ROFL!! Sounds like somebody was hoping for some "hush" money.

Got mine today and works great, but I noticed a small thing.
There is a small gap between top of Provari and the bottom od DID; at least 1 mm. Is that ok?
(the same thing with my other Provari)

Yes, that's normal. You can shrink that distance a little by tightening the bottom nut (in the top cap) to pull the pin in, but don't go to tight or you could snap the center post.

so if i'm getting a short on the top , does it have to do with the how i have the top screws? :?:
Make sure your battery is low... but of course never depleted!... Vape your freshly charged 4.2 battery down to a good 3.7 or even 3.6 charge before testing a new wrap.

Jack Frost method first your mesh. Found in Striker's #1 video I believe.

Make sure no coils are touching the mainframe or top cap.

Make sure the wick isn't touching the center post
Make sure the wick isn't too far away from the center post

Make sure the coils have a hair of space between the wire and the wick. (easiest to learn by using the tobacco paper method in Scotts (Igetcha69) video found in Mr.Mann's INDEX
Make sure the coils don't have too much space between the wire and the wick.

You'll get it! Hang in there!!

SIX!? Wow. Impressive. I started with two. Just got my tracking today. Let's see where that goes.

Gave her a bath and a re-wrap and installed an o-ring on the pin. It still makes that slight buzzing noise. I went and checked other cartos/attys and I think they do it too, they just get hot quicker so it hides the noise. It DID solve the resistance checking though. My DID shows the same on the Gripper and the Provari now...

All over the place
Is there perhaps a user guide anywhere? I know with some things I've bought, you can get a user manual in .pdf format, and it's handy for quick-referencing things like how big you cut your mesh, etc. Does such a thing exist? If not, would anyone consider making one?

P.S. How big should I cut my mesh? :D

Who in their right mind would want to do such a thing? Honestly though, virtually everyone in this thread has participated in making a user manual of some sort...it is this thread!

p.s. My DID in flying home and I am getting a bit antsy. :D

I picked up a 200ft kanthal and some wick + 3 drip tips from Carl last week. Just got back from a business trip and picked up my packages. They look great. Nice spool of kanthal without the bends.

I have waited for close to a months for ebay... meanwhile, spent more than what I spent on this 200ft buying short lengths on cards with bends and all from a few vape stores that has this . Glad to find it here.

That is a heck of a deal, that's basically a lifetime of wire and a years worth of 3mm wick, just a awesome deal. I'm getting more wick now. I wish he carried all the awg's...30awg - 34awg. That would be so nice, a 1 stop shop.

I found that most of the time when the short seems to be at the top its actually one coil under it. The part that glows is not shorting. Its just working better then the lower coil. Think of it like a water hose. Kink it and the flow shuts or slows down. Will post the next video tomorrow but one more thing on the rolling paper method. I make that paper longer so it goes around the mesh isolating it from the wick hole entirely. It says wet and in place for the life of the wick and coil. Some might see it as overkill. But it gives 0% chance of the wick shorting in the hole.

well i have the provari finally stopped from giving me e1 errors but despite the coil metering at 2.6 ish, it's acting very anemic. just a wif of vapor. Damn, I had it set up just fine on Tuesday, but i messed the whole dang thing up when I took it to work:facepalm:

never mind. I guess i wasn't putting the multimeter in the right place. the provari says the coil is 5.5. duh!

Cloud...I've noticed myself and had many reports of the VMAX and the gripper...also a lot of PWM chipset device all having a buzzing sound right where the board is inside the mod. Hate to be the bad news guy but some of the recent reports I've been PM'd has said their device is now dead (only the ones that"buzzed') their mechanical mods are fine. I'm NOT saying this will happen to yours but it seems a few different types of R.A.'s have this effect on certain circuitry's. I've just finished my CAD drawing of my custom mechanical that I'm making for myself just for the DiD and mini DiD so no more electronic devices for the DiD for me. I designed them especially for the DiD and a 'kick' if I want to put mine in it.

I was just about to say take a coil off till you like it.. I went from 4 down to a 2 wrap. Its just hard to work with this Lambo and the sad little 2amp limit.

Thx J. Hmm, that sounds less than promising... It was cheap for a reason, I sent an email to the vendor just to see what they think.

The Tao of Cloud (kinda like today's fortune cookie): PVs come and go, the DID is forever....

Humm maybe go find the gripper thread and ask around, im using the DID, vivi nova and the vivi tank and no buzz at all here.

Ohm checking the sam any time i check them, im really liking this gripper.

And exactly what happened, small touch and the center post snaped. Maybe I will give a try in a few weeks, if I can get a replacement from Jim. Sad story :(.
