Not trying to be a wise guy here Pete, but are your nuts facing the right way?
If they are, try holding the bottom nut with a finger and using a round toothpick to tighten the top nut. Stick the toothpick into the knurling in the side of the nut and turn it. Also double check to ensure the bottom nut contacting the white grommet is nice and snug.
Hang on, let me check ....... they're leaning to the .....Sorry, I couldn't resist! So which way is the "correct" way? Using a toothpick to tighten the nuts doesn't sound like it'll get them very tight. I bought some nice pointy needle nosed pliers so tonight, once everyone gets out of my way, I'm gonna take apart this perfectly good setup and try a double wick version. I figure the only way to get good at this is to keep making new wicks!

From Mr. Mann's index....post 2054

I actually like the 3-nut setup because it allows you to adjust the height of the top coil. This can be useful for different coil configurations and spacing. What makes it easier for me is holding the bottom nut with a finger while tightening the top one with a toothpick by poking and turning the knurled edges. As I mentioned earlier, I think it helps to use the proper mating surfaces of the nuts....the sides with the 'well' and knurling along the top edges should be facing each other. They lock into place better this way.

Give it a shot and see. Like anything DID-related YMMV but it works for me.

Kir tank is holding up good against the de sangre. For my fruity rawrs im using the SS tank only because i did see their liquid was listed in that "can crack" list. On my did i just got the cheap smoktech 4.5ml clears so i dont care if they crack (never happened yet) but i do got a kir on pene.

Good to know! Maybe someone has already answered this, but: Did you have to cut those SmokTech tanks to fit the DID? Also, there's gotta be some polypropylene tanks that'll fit the did...

Yes, I've heard that you do need to cut them. Can't comment on the polypropylene question though, not sure.

Thanks for that. The only problem is, I secretly wished not to have to try many different set-ups and subsequent mastery of those set-ups to get what I was looking for. I was hoping for the bare bones out of the package to work in the way that suited me. I am not averse to the idea at all and thank you for it, but that still puts a lot more research and hours into the set-up than I would like at this time. I respect all those that have the time to allot to that kind of trial and error, but I would prefer less. It all remains to be seen as to whether I think it is worth it. I must insist, again, that this is me and not The DID. I do believe there is a way for me to get the type of enjoyment that many of you speak of, but I am in the process of losing the once open schedule that I used to have. Having to re-organize my life and the house for the new addition to my family and all. I may have been just a tad bit too late to the party. And that's fine, you will never hear me dismiss The DID, JD, or this thread. My time spent on this thread and will spend, has made me all the more knowledgeable about so many things. I am not an "I can't get it to work right; the hell with this!" person. It's more of, "Hmm, that's interesting, maybe it's not optimum for me."
I feel ya, Mr. :) You've got a lot on your plate right now, the biggest thing being an incoming infant! (Hearty congratulations, by the way!) I agree with Rick, just wrap some coils and vape, and don't worry too much about it. I stopped trying to get those Cholo clouds pretty quickly. Or put it away for a while and come back to it when you feel you can. The DID will survive another world war, I'm pretty sure.

Let me tell you, though: Once that little bundle of joy comes screaming sweetly into your life, your time (and energy) to DID-fiddle will decrease exponentially, regardless of what you're having to do now to ready yourself for him/her. The joy of fatherhood is deep and unrivaled, but it's a full time joy. I would almost say: Grab whatever moments you can now, and calmly work with your DID. If you can get good at setting up a wick and coil that makes you happy by the time your offspring arrives, you'll have three mls of juice in between trips to the juice drawer, as opposed to the three or so drops a 510 atty will allow you.

I'm just saying. From one dad to another: Don't lose faith, dad. :toast:

Thank you for such a beautiful post, I really enjoyed reading it. As for your quest for "cholo clouds" as you put it, here are some tips that I usually give people to help them achieve maximum vapor production.
1. Use 400 mesh, as the particles of juice in the holes of the mesh are smaller and more plentiful than with 325 or 270 mesh, your juice will vaporize more efficiently.
2. Use a big battery mechanical mod (18650 preferably)
3. If using an 18650 mechanical mod, I highly suggest MNKE IMR 1500 mah 18650s, which can be purchased at digitalciggz.com with the coupon code ciggz10 for 10% off. These batts have a MUCH higher C rating than AW IMRs (30A vs 10A), which means that they'll hold your voltage under load much longer than the AWs.
4. Reduce your number of wraps and/or branch out into 30g kanthal (I suggest 3/2 wraps, which will give you a 0.8-1.0Ω coil)
5. Don't be afraid to hold your mod horizontal to the ground to improve wicking
6. Make sure the contacts on your mod and the atomizer are well kept and polished
7. Bore out your airhole to 1/16" (WARNING! You're going to have a hard time patching it up to make it smaller than you will making it larger, so be careful!)

And there's the written version of the highly anticipated RnMreviews DID setup video! Maybe I should've referred to the clouds as "rwechsler clouds." ;)

Honestly, you're the reason I even know about RBAs. I was looking at some YouTube reviews a few months ago, and one of your videos popped up on the left of the screen. I watched it and was blown away by the amount of vapor you and your setup were producing. Since then it's been many late nights (while my beautiful daughter is softly snoring in her little blue bed in the next room) of Gomtuu watching Genisis videos of all types. So: Thank you! Now I have a DID, which I'm loving and still fiddling with when I can; and a Phoenix, which I've set up with an SS mesh wick; and I'm waiting on a couple other things. Sufficient to say: I'm a rebuildable convert. When I'm out in the hood, I still use my carto tanks, though...

As far as the "Cholo" clouds go: Despite living in Boyle Heights (just moved from Echo Park), I'm referring to a video posted in this thread featuring a Filipino vaper using a DID on a ProVari and producing insane clouds. To you, the clouds will look familiar. ;)

Looking forward to your second DID video. :)

The 4.5 ml smok tanks fit perfect without cutting or sanding.

Thanks. :toast:

I'm looking into this. I just ordered a couple of Kir Fanis tubes from Jim's site, as well as some extra nuts so I can rock it like rwechsler, but I'm definitely into finding some backups. I'll let you guys know if I find anything awesome. ;)

Not to blow vapor up, well, never mind. But, I always looked at RW's videos as the pinnacle of vape. Not saying that Cholo's videos aren't cool to watch, but RW's don't have the vapor friendly filter on his shots. LOL. It's unadulterated! Basically, I am with Gomtu on this one.
