When I 1st got my DID I thought it was too airy, but once I got used to it the draw started to feel to stiff. So i have been thinking of boring the air hole out to 1/16.for the last week or two. Mostly dreading messing it up as I don't have another top. Well tonight I decide to go for it. Wow was it simple. The drill bit went thru like butter and it was over in a sec.

Needless to say I'm lovin it. Lots more vapor and I don't notice any decrease in flavor or TH. To anyone thinking about doing it but worried of ruining your top cap, just do it, it's as easy as screwing the cap on.

Have a question for a battery guru: I've been using some 30g kanthal, and wrapping a 3-4 to 4-5 wrap and getting between 1.2 to 1.4 ohm coils, and been using on my provari at 3.3volts. If I put this setup on a non regulated battery mod, say with the high drain 18650, is there a possibility of overtaxing the battery running it at such a low resistance? It will blow clouds I'm sure, and maybe kill some taste, but I'm not sure if that's a "smart" way to go. Thanks!

i have a question, so ive had my did for a while and have been pleased, i got my mini did a couple a days ago and have been blown away. the vapor production has been amazing and i cant get my regular did up to that level, every time i go to use it just disappoints me. i dont know why the mini is preforming so much better the air hole is lined up a little bit better but i used an o ring to line up the air hole and it helped a little bit but not a lot. idk would it benefit from a bored out air hole? to 1/16? idk whats up ive just been spoiled. i just did a break down clean b/c i think the resistance of the did when up a little bit im worried it might be sucking a little bit of power away from the coil. idk any help would be great

edit: nvm, see that you have provari. hard to say, same juice, same wattage? every set up is so different. my DID and mini DID vape on the same level pretty much... even on the same device, no 2 coils and wicks are exactly the same.

whats your battery?

if you are on 3.7, then it may be because you build a fatter wick for the larger DID hole so using the same wire type and number of wraps, the mini DID would have a lower ohm thus hit harder on 3.7 than your DID with a higher resistance.

yeah i know thats part of it but i dont really want to do a 1/2 wrap, right now im at at 3/2 wrap of 30 awg witch is coming out at 1.2-1.3 ohms on the regular did and .8-.9 ohms on the mini which seems like a big difference both are firing up evenly. i could a imagine .1-.2 difference but not a .4 ohm difference. and i feel like it was working better a couple of weeks ago ive tryed differend coils from 1.2 to 2.3 on a strait unregulated imr 18490 to a provari. i was only running it on a provari and getting good results now it just seems really sluggesh

The bottom coil might be a tad bit too high.
The top coil might benefit from the "hook" before heading over to the centerpost.
The wick could be cropped a smidgen, it looks a little bit taller than the center post and it should be under or even.
I bet you totally nail it on your next wrap!

Many thanks Uma, will try those little adjustments.

i get the same impression. But I can't ignore him (wife is posting for him, supposedly), because he's the only other DIDer on another forum that I visit, and he's giving wrong impressions to any others who might be interested in improving their vaping experiences with a DiD. I am compelled to his "help me" thread! I'm the one who hyped up the DID in that forum, in the first place, and now I am pulling my hair out because this one person is.... omit sentence here....

Help! I'm trying to be oh so informative, for others who may be following the thread either now, or in the future. I also want this person to "get it".

Just build me a barrel, I feel like a pickle.

Well, what forum is that - send me a pm. I will dash right over there. I have no problem expressing my opinion on someone bashing Jim's device. Let me know and I'm on it.

Here’s some pics of how I’m rocking my DID, sorry about the quality I’m not a good photographer.

Did on Provari

Pic looks great Duke, I like it alot. People may think they are not photographers, but it takes many pictures to get just one. Last pic I posted of mini DID - we took 44 - yes 44 pics to get that one pic that I considered great. Diff angles, diff distances, diff light - it all plays a factor. One never knows how they are going to turn out till you look at them all.

Yes it was me. If I ever get off this tablet so I can decrease photo size I will post the silica and mesh wick. I still use them occasionally when I am having a bad coil day. I use a darning needle to thread through the mesh. Since I started the jack frost method of oxidizing I haven't had a problem with my wick ...... (well I did have an issue with the mini and threw a silica wrapped which in it until I had time the next day to work on a wick some more. I actually find too much torching gives me more trouble with shorts than the minimal torching I do now.

Too much torching will destroy the mesh - especially for the people that use a propane torch - will make it crumble.

It's a custom made mod by my buddy switcher here on ECF. I wanted something for the DID that could hold a 26700 E-Moli cell plus a kick and all mechanical. Boy did he deliver and I think it looks sweet with the DID and works great!! I think he called it The Staff I call it The ... KICKER!!! LOL

Awesome looking device there barqs, looks great
