I hear ya. Waiting STINKS! I've been watching the tracker for 2 shipments 1) all my SS hardware for my DIDs 2) a SS GGTS. I feel like getting in the car and driving to NY USPS...

I do believe we both have identical orders on their way.

Well since we're on the subject, what's the average time for delivery from date of purchase. I'm guessing a month or so?

It varies a lot between orders. I received my first order for a DID in 5 days, it was unbelievable how fast it went through NY. I then decided to order a couple clear tanks for it, they shipped on 8/27 and are still sitting in NY.

I know my original DID took like 2 1/2 - 3 weeks to finally show. It sat in NY customs for a LONG time! Jim and I both figured it had gone missing. The next day it popped into my mailbox, tracking still showed in NY... Mini DID only sat in customs two days, so about a week total of waiting. Go figure. Hopefully all those still waiting to receive their DID(s) get lucky and don't have to wait too much longer :)

Yup... Cappucino flavor from Inawera.

I sincerely doubt that it had any issues prior to this juice, however, when I got up this morning it had emptied the tank on my table... couldn't understand it until I noticed the two cracks from bottom to top.

Thankfully I have the steel tank, but I just really like the look of it with a clear tank :)

Was there a Tabacco Cappuccino, or just a Cappuccino?

Provaris aren't harder to get it right, they're just quicker to tell you when it's wrong. I setup all my DID on my Provari (mech-mod advocates will cringe at this...) because I know if it works there it works anywhere.

Wick: I follow the "RWeschler" method, but I still do the 3x quench + 3x juice burn as well (old dog, new tricks...)
  1. Cut sheet (~2.0cm for std/shortie, ~1.5cm for mini) x 4.0cm tall (I use either 325 or 400, but some folks like 270. I do however like T316-Medical grade better than T304-Food grade...)
  2. Burn whole wick flat (Jack Frost method)
  3. Fold leading edge over (will provide evenness on outside seam)
  4. Roll wick around a tool that fits closely in size to the wick hole (8D finishing nail for std/shortie, 1/16in drill bit for Mini)
  5. (optional) cut bottom at 45 degrees (I do it because it helps bubbles come out the bottom of the wick)
  6. Test for fit in wick hole (should fit with enough friction to hold it in place - ~1mm off bottom of tank)
  7. Trim top of wick (I usually cut to just below the top of the center pin - a little shorter for Mini)
  8. Pull wick out, torch wick and quench in water (I use a Home Depot butane torch)
  9. Juice burn (douse with juice and light on fire with lighter till it goes out)

Coil: I use a modified "Petar K" method (Kanthal 30awg A-1, 4/5 wraps: ~1.7ohm on std/shortie - ~1.4ohm on Mini)
  1. Cut ~5in wire
  2. Anneal with lighter (lower temp flame just bring to red up/back and let cool in air)
  3. Wrap coil on tool (I use a home Depot pick for Std/Shorite, 8D finishing nail for Mini)
  4. Install coil in DID (stick tool right in wick hole with coil still wrapped)
  5. Tighten leads (I go in between negative and post on bottom and clockwise on top - someone once said "like mickey mouse ears")
  6. Pull out tool and make sure coil not touching anywhere
  7. Use toothpick in top of coil to pull slightly away from top/center post
  8. Set Provari to 3.0v and dry burn (nudge with tooth pick if not even red glow top to bottom)
  9. Check resistance (this is the clean/baseline resistance for the coil installed - if it changes much later you it's either touching center post or shorting which means wick)

Try to twist wick into coil. If it doesn't go in with just a little resistance (should just touch all the way around), roll wick tighter between thumb and forefinger, try again (rinse/repeat).

Wet burn. Douse the coil/wick with juice 4/5 drops and fry it (repeat 3x)
Check resistance (if it's more than ~0.2ohm difference burn to glow and look for obvious hot spots or simply twist the wick 1/4 turn - rinse/repeat)

Fill and vape. Seems like a lot of steps, but once you get the hang of it you can do all of this in literally a few minutes. Also, number of wraps, mesh # and wire gauge can be changed for your vaping style.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, if so will edit later.

+10!! Fantastic summary!!
Using a volt meter to test the Jack Frosted (or RWeschler) mesh, before rolling, to ensure it's totally oxidized before continueing to the next steps is a real saver on both time and emotions. I just picked this tip up the other day and haven't used it yet, but plan on it. Nice tip to add to the collection. :)

I do exactly the same, only without quenching. Also if I see a hot spot (the area where the distance between the coil and wick is bigger than everywhere else) I insert a toothpick into the wick hole and wiggle a little bit to opposite direction than the wick is rolled.

Man that is awesome, I do have to say I like the normal size DID on the long tube Caravela. The lines are perfect on it!!!

BTW does the drip tip come standard with the Caravela or is it extra?

Panic. Need help. I just broke my center pin on my Did. I need a temp fix. I using a carto for 2 minutes. I want to die.

Tony

No great solutions for this one other than a replacement through e-vape. I looked for SS and brass 1/16in x 2in (1.5mm x 50mm) screws and couldn't find any. One thing I haven't yet tried but think may work short term is a 1/16in brass welding rod from Home Depot. I would bend over and flatten (using a vice) a very short (~1/8in) and slide in through the bottom. Put on a device and wrap the positive wire (if removed, homemade pin will move since there's no nuts holding it in place). Not a great solution, but may work.

That is horrible!!! I feel bad for you. Where did it break? Did it break by the threading near the top? I guess now would be the time to learn how to weld like CW suggested. Maybe there's a safe conductive epoxy that you could use? I'm not a fix it type of guy, but my prayers go out to you.

If you can get your hands on this stuff it may work and it only takes 5 hours to cure. Silver Conductive Epoxy | MG Chemicals, but welding or soldering sounds like the best option if you can do it.

I feel your pain, i have been in the same spot! When you order a replacement be sure to order a spare one.
I could not find a fix for mine so i went through some heavy withdrawl symptoms being without my beloved DID. I wish you strength!

Damn. I'm sorry. This is why I tend to order a few spare parts when I order anything I don't already have. You never know. MY problem is I used my "spare" part, with a few other "spare parts" and built another whole DID....in a clear as I didnt' need a "spare" SS tank.

Well first of all I wanted to thank all of you for jumping in so quick. And also feeling my pain. I've been using a genisis The Did for 3-4 months now. As we all know once you use one nothing even comes close!

You have seen my silly photos. I put the blue tank on a couple of weeks ago because I was having trouble filling it, so I wanted to see what was going on. Now that I know it was the thick wick and I can will it through it. I decided this morning to put the SS tank back on.

Since I am a ....., ......, stupid Ginny, I forgot to remove the top nut. So I just twisted the did until I heard the pop. My heart dropped. No screws to be found as we all know.

Well this is what I was able to do. So far very happy. Parts will go on order today! Or when Jim opens up again.

Got 14 gauge copper solid wire. Cut shaped
