Just got my Caravela yesterday and here are some pics of Mini and Standard DID's on the tubes. We took 81 pics to get these and two other pics not shown here. Diff. light and diff. times of the day.

Quick DID question. What sort of resistance drop should I expect to see over the break in period. I am using a 4/3 wrap of .20 kanthal. I have already seen a .4 ohm drop over the first day and a half. Should I expect it to drop any more?
Sent from my HD7 using Board Express

Hmm, when resistance drops I usually think short. I typically start a few points below baseline (I always check resistance on a bare new coil to see where it is supposed to be) with a new coil and then slowly come up as the wick seasons. Is the flavor and vapor ok? If so, I'd "just vape it". If not, I'd give the wick a quarter turn to see if it moves the coil onto wick space thats better oxidized (and brings the resistance back up to starting point). Also, make sure your wick isn't touching the bottom of the tank and is trimmed to the top or just below the center post height (little SS hairs can make shorts to the tank bottom or top cap).

I think Wiz's recommendation above should be regarded as a must for those new to RBA's. Knowing where the ohm's should be in a perfect, short-free setup provides an excellent reference point if something seems off.

We should see E1 on Provari?

You certainly hope NOT to. E1/E2 mean either your coil is too low resistance (not enough wraps) or you have a short (look for hot spots. Make sure your Provari is turned down to 3.0v to get started. Some things to try:
  1. Make sure the wick isn't touching bottom of tank, top cap or center post
  2. Nudge the coil above below a hotspot (current comes in from the poles so the short is towards the center of wick from where it glows red)
  3. Twist the wick a quarter turn to try and find better oxidized wick
  4. Pull the wick out (twist while pulling up) and torch again to add oxidation
