What does this have to do with the blatant theft of Jims name of device amd the copying of it. Thats whats wrong with this world now, anything goes and not many people care.

Do not forget that the idea of genesis belongs to Van! ( I hope I'm not wrong )

But selling it under the exact name is wrong - we all agree with that ! Who tried this atomizer will not buy a replica!

Copying a design or part of it probably cannot be avoided, I'm afraid. :(
But...selling it under the exact name?
You can alway say: 'based on', 'inspired on' or whatever you want to name it...
It's also possible to contact the original designer to get his consent.
It's even possible to come to an agreement to pay him a rightfull fee for using the design.

But litterally use the name, which in this case is based on Jims own name, is for me a bridge to far.
Being an artist myself I can relate to this, been there...
And believe me, when this happens, it doesn't feel like a compliment, it's not about money, it simply hurts...

Great post and makes complete sense. I agree in principle that copying a product is wrong. But there again what about the originator of SS mesh atomizers? What is the name of that guy? Imitation is the best form of flattery. I think e-vape will roll with it. He is an innovator. An inventor. A craftsman.

People know that the quality of the DID clones will be sub-par.

o.k. , next days i make some detailed descriptions and pcitures of the Dreampipe and then Big-Cigar.
First i have to look for an good picture hoster. The minimal pictures in this forum make no sense.

The atty has two versions. My first version is free and i described in in the german forum. Everybody can build ist, if it is for non commercial use!
The second version (WOW, forgett all atty's you ever have seen) is under patent. It needs about 3 month, before i can public details, sorry.

The microprosessor solution is for free but "no commercial use". Its a attiny25 which controls:
accus voltage, steam, fingersensors, max. steam time, and temperature.

You will see details here in the next days.

I hope, my english is good enough, so that you can understand the most

All I can say is - I see two distinct groups of people on this thread. Those who defend Jim and the outright theft of his name - The DID and the copying of his design. The other group defends the thief and copier making excuses for him and reasons for people to buy it.

A thief is a thief. If you steal 10 cents - 10 million or a name - your still a thief. Giving money to said thief is ---------------

Will the Mini DID close on the Darwin?

Thinking about picking one up.

No its real close but my friend has a darwin and tested that with my mini. I told him to shave off sone of the Darwins case lol. I think he decided to sell the darwin to get a tube mod so his shorty doesn't look so silly too.

So so true, I looked at the coop thread yesterday thinking it was Jims mini DID only to be let down when I saw what it realy was.

A thief is a thief. If you steal 10 cents - 10 million or a name - your still a thief. Giving money to said thief is ---A thief guilty by association!

What the stuff???

I come to this thread daily to read tips and tricks and people's experiences as well as to check out the cool photos now and again... Not some drama about knock offs. Maybe that discussion is best served elsewhere like in a new thread?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see this thread get back to the good stuff.

Its totally wrong for them to copy the name and the design.

Im in an interesting situation myself. I got an email announcement from Stormy's Vapor Cellar that they had their own new RA Genesis Tank called the SVC Storm. I saw the price and saw what it looked like and said heck, that looks like it would be nice for my pipes. So I bought it right that moment.

Then I started seeing Mini DID's in the picture thread. At the time I thought the DID was more the size of the z-atty and the other fat tanks that fit nice on large tube mods. Im almost exclusive a pipe vapor so I tend to look for long skinny ones like the line. Well after I saw the mini DID I figured out what Stormy was doing.

I might build it once and then give it to a friend or toss it in the rubbish. At least they didnt blatantly rip off the name but still.

Ok...it is time this stopped.

Intentions are good, but this has gotten out of hand.

This is a sales thread...Jim's store here if you will.

If Jim wants to bring up the topic and discuss it with you when he is here he of course can. In the mean time, this stops.

Back to helping people please.

If I may: I, like many here, enjoy, promote, and continually recommend the DID, and Jim's associated products, to my friends and fellow vapors. I try and do this with enthusiasm and kindness. Kindness is the key word. While I'm not thrilled about the problems encountered by patent violations, illegal downloading, war, or the myriad of problems facing us all, why create disharmony over something we have no control over. China will do as it wishes, people seeking bargains will do as they wish, all I can do is serve my own conscious best I can. I certainly am not the judge of my peers, nor do I wish to be. The one thing I can do is try and make this thread a fun, intellectual, happy learning environment. I will do my best to aid the learning process without intimidating, or injecting negativity. In return I learn and advance in this hobby I have grown to love.

Ya know, not sure but kanthal 30, may be a bit more stable than kanthal 32. I used kanthal 30 for the first time last night. Normally, On a new coil, I have to mess around a bit with hot spots, and adjustments for the short term. Either I am getting really good at coil making, or my wick is so well seasoned it has eliminated shorting, or kanthal 30 is a tad more stable. Not sure, but I have not had to mess with this coil at all. Very stable right away!
