I don't know whats happening with your set-up...sorry...but as you have read, not to many people seem to have problems bar the first few set-up's.

Have you set your wick and coil up as per the guidelines ?

Are you using the mesh Jim sent with your DID ?
If your using the above noted mesh, did you cut the sheets in half and then make the wick from the half a rectangle ?

As that is the ideal set-up...although saying that there are a couple of posters in the thread that insert one wick inside another...so I would presume that would be an almost solid wick, and their not reporting problems.

I finally got it working! I cur half a sheet of the 400 mesh Jim supplied jack frosted it and inserted it. The first tank was ok but not what I was expecting. So I cleared the tank removes the wick and coil. I inspected my coil sand found I had little shards of mesh which was causing shorts I couldn't see. I the lighter burned the rest of the remaining juice off and then torched my wick again. Wrapped rolling paper around the wick until it reached where it cleared the cap. I then wrapped a 3/4 coil around the paper and did a dry burn and viola! All the coils lit up right away all uniform. Filled the tank and caped away. The flavor was still a tad bit muted but I enjoyed the flavor and throat hit. I cleared the remaining part of that tank inspected the coil and bam still good! Filled with another flavor after dry burning the old liquid out and bam! Awesomeness occurred. The flavor is just getting better and better. This is what I have been looking for my whole vaping life! Has to loosen the fill hole a bit because I started to get dry hits. This thing is perfect, I just chain vaped it for the last 20 min without a single dry hit or burned flavor. To my other newbies our there keep at it. I went through 3 feet of wire before I got this awesomeness! Keep reading ans watch a few YouTube how to's it will help. Cheers USZ

by "loosen the fill hole" do you mean loosening the screw in the fill hole? did you just back it out a few turns? or did you completely remove it..

I'm pretty sure that what was meant. To get at your previous questions (i am lame and can't capture multiple quotes...) yes the thickness of your wick plays a huge part in everything. For instance, I am currently encountering the problem you are, because I switched to a thin (80pg/20vg) juice and my wick is thick, with a huge hole in the center. The hole in the center allows for juice to drip staight out of the top, but with such thick walls it's retaining a whole lot of juice so I'm getting flooded wick syndrome. The easiest way to fix this would be to put the screw back in the fill hole and tilt more often. Perhaps try a thinner walled wick, and that perhaps won't keep as much liquid on the wick - that's what I'm going to try now in fact as I'm outta good thick juice.

Ok,my 32 & 30g Kanthal is still not here, but my last rejuvenated coil was looks very sad and flavor was lacking, so I pulled out the nichrome 28 I bought at the local electronics shop (was the only res wire they stock) and set about making a coil for my new 110mm #500 mesh wick, 10wraps, steady 1.5Ohms, wrapped the coil around a drill bit then inserted drill bit into DID tightened connectors slid in juiced up 3500 wick, and Bob's you mother's brother, 8 watts on the ZMAX and a great vape. This is not my ideal set-up (still running on so who knows) but until my kanthal arrives IT WORKS

That's pretty amazing! I guess in theory you should get superior vapor because of the huge coil area, but this might be counterbalanced by the length of time it takes to warm up.

Is the Zmax accurate on Watts, or is it weird like it is with volts?

And what size drill bit was that :)

I've read it runs a little high on the Watts too, I don't care though, it is a really solid mod and I adjust to taste, so it's great.
I'm running at 8.5 Watts now and will work my way up over the next few hours/days until I get drop-off in flavor, but at present it's not too slow to get cooking, maybe after a cool down for the first couple of vapes it's a little sluggish, but then your off.

Oh, I agree - I wasn't trying to denigrate it. I was just curious :)
My mods don't even have a display, so I adjust for taste too.

Wow! that is a solid wick. I still haven't tried a 110mm-500 (heard someone saying they were up to 170mm-500...), but it's on my list of things to-do :)

This post made me smile!! I'm so happy you got it going great!! Isn't it a grand feeling. :2cool:

(shoot, the picture post didn't quote for me, it's all mixed up. )

That's great you have it working!!!
The first picture, looks like the juice is spitting outwards? If it is, it means ... yep... it means there's a minor short going on somewhere there. :( Once you get that fixed though (twist the coil? Bump a coil? ), you're really be rockin it!!

@ SilverSix: I haven't had your problems, and am in the dark with this. The only times my DiD has flooded, was when I would take an ordinary aggressive draw with it. Since I've learned to relax and let the vapor come to me, it never floods anymore at all. I used the huge Siam Ripple drip tip, to help me to not "take draws" from it. It's a highy tuned, sensitive atty, like a good genesis should be. :) You probably already know this, but maybe the next person doesn't know we have to "draw" on the genny's a lot gentler than the normal storebought attys.

@Striker911: That's a dual carto tank converted to use as a DID tank? Was it easy to do? It might come in handy in a pinch.

@Jim and Wasabi: Right on!!!!
