Looks like a 2,3 30 AWG Coil there, probably around 0.8 to 1.0 Ohms I would guess???

Nate aka Darth Vapor

32. 1.2-1.3. Using the same since I got the did But I'm not a person trying to get the most vapor. This is reliable and good better then any cart. Basic 3.7 volts. Use 60/40 vg/pg with 5% tabac flav.
Better then the reds. :).

Heck Yeah Tony, anything is better than the Reds :D Right now on my other Fiber Wick rebuildables I am running one that is on my GGTS at 1.0 ohms and the other that is on my Provari or my Sturm at 1.3 ohms, both with 30 AWG Kanthal A1

how do you get a hot vape from a did? like i just went back to a carto to try it, and i noticed immediately how warm the vapor was. flavor was eh, but the vapor production and warmth beat my did out by a long shot. i am confident my coil is not shorting, so is it just the nature of the beast? tips?
Find some Kanthal 28 AWG

I really don't feel the need for more but one day. I would like to try 28 or 30. Just to see.

My wick is still good but I plan on making a new one in the morning. If anyone is having trouble with wicks. Pm me an address. I'll email you the one I'm taking out. It's still good. Just trying a different style.

My current setup on my DID standard is really blowing me away.
I've been following this thread for a couple of months since I first started obsessing about owning a quality genesis, I would hear tales of "intense flavor", "got to cut down on the nicotine in my mixes the DID is making me nauseous, but in a good way LOL", "This DID producing overwhelming plumes of vapor" etc. etc. These are not exact quotes, but you get the picture.
Then my first DID std arrived, and the fun and games began. I have worked as a mechanic, television engineer and am always "fixing things", I thought "this will be a snap"!
Um... well no. don't get me wrong I could get a working setup going with no obvious shorts/hotspots etc, but I spent many hours and sleepless nights fiddling, recoiling making new wicks etc, in search of the fore mentioned genesis nirvana.
I researched on youtube, read every post that I could on ECF, aussievapers, vaporwall and anywhere else they were talking about ss wicks and genesis coils. again, I state I was enjoying my DID experience and had a good vape going, but I am a perfectionist to a fault and this fiddling had become an obsession the likes of which I haven't known for a long while.
Over the last month my oxidation process and coiling methods have developed through countless helpful posts of advice mainly from here, but also from the #500 mesh thread, a well visited DIDers hangout.
every setup has been that little bit better, more thought out and easier, but today the Ah ha moment well and truly occurred.
I now have "intense flavor",and I think I've "got to cut down on the nicotine in my mixes the DID is making me nauseous, but in a good way LOL" and "This DID producing overwhelming plumes of vapor".
Was it worth all the hours, lost sleep, meters of kanthal, litres of Vg use in testing new coils etc .etc./
Hell YES,
Would I do it all over again knowing what I know now?
Definitely
What was my end result after all my effort?
Truly the best flavor & vaping experience ever.

Big thanks to ALL those who listened to my struggles and tirelessly posted new and innovative methods and troubleshooting advice.

I now have 2 DID stds, and another on the way, and a DID mini, these will last me forever, and cost me less
money than I spent on smokes per month.

Thanks also to Jim for amongst other things the best customer service I've seen from any manufacturer or vendor.:toast:

Oh dear mother of god! Please let my Mini DID arrive soon before I pop a vein.

Ummmm.... I think you forgot sumthin here bro. Details man! We need details!!!! Ok, maybe no one else does but I do. LOL
I've been doing all the researching that you described as well and have been playing with my cheapo $15 Smoktech gene mod. I've had various results and success with it but I'm dying to get my first "real" gene to reach this level nirvana in which you describe so well.

So... What was your Ah ha moment?

so what will like a 4/5 of 28 get me? more flavor and vapor?

Well, MY take is it depends on the juice as well. I have some that I hate vaping this way. Sometimes having a hotter vape doesn't work. Take a sweeter delicate flavor. BUT, some enjoy it. I say try it each way and see which works for you.

But to answer your question, voltage being equal, it will generally bring a hotter vape. You leave the 3.7v and lower the resistance, it's usually hotter. The wattage is higher.

The Ah ha. Moment is when everything you've learnt, experimented with and researched galvanizes into a perfectly working setup that exhibits: great flavor, huge vapor and unparalleled nic delivery. All "the details" are here on this thread. There is no "one" successful method, there are many, and you need to and will find yours that works for you. Whether or not you can repeat it or not? Well that is your story. Let it begin :)

Ps. The DID is IMHO the best thought out simplest genny design out there, and the set up is far easier than a Chinese wannabe plastic thing like the one you mentioned. Plus it will never melt LOL.

LOL Tony I have Two other rebuildable Tanks that I use exclusively O and P and they both use Fiber wicks of course so this will be my very first attempt at a mesh wick RBT. They all look so stylish that I simply HAD to try one out and I am never one to skimp on quality so I figured go with the one that has the best reputation for the price :D

Yankee I totally get what you are saying about juices, I have a ton of different flavors I vape and some do extremely well hot and others such as my DIY butterscotch do not do well at all on a hot coil.

As far as wire I have a 100 foot of 32 gauge and a 100 foot of 30 Gauge so I am totally set for a good long while on those.

Vapaz I TOTALLY FEEL YA. I am about to Pop a vein myself LOL

Oiy why is waiting on vaping goodies so danged hard?!?!?!?!?!

With gummy bears I used 28.....but I had to recoil and add a few coils to bring it up to 1.2. I probably should have done 30. I'm not done experimenting....with this wrap OR tweaking the flavor. :D

I also have this chocolate peppermint that is similar to chocolate altoid if with that bite. I have have that near 1.5

Hi folks,

I've asked this question before, but am going to try again ;)

What do you recommend for a SMALL, LIGHT, 18650 mod?

I've had people recommend the Caravella, GG (Golden greek?) and the GGPAPS. None of the three are available for purchase right now.

When I'm at home I am rotating between my DID and my ZAP on a Provari. Loving both. When I'm out and about I'm mostly vaping my NGP Hybrid... the 'mod' section is tiny. Barely bigger than an 18650 battery, made of aluminum, and light as a feather. I'm not a fan of all the plastic in the genesis section, though, and would like to switch to my DID. I just need something small to put it on! :)

Dude I’m almost there! Vapor and throat hit are insane! The vapor is nice and warm too :) Only thing is the taste isn’t there (very muted, like a bad carto) due to this short I’m trying to fix. The juice I’m using is pink spots black mamba, so mostly pg. Its wicking like a champ. Ive poked and prodded the coil and wick every which way but its being stubborn. A few times I fixed it but then it would short on the bottom coils or it comes back after a very vapes. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, did the pk method using 32ga 5/4 wrap at 2.2ohms.

That top coil is your problem. You have to get that hot spot out.

Until jim makes a 18650 battery holder, a puresmoker legacy is as good a 18650 pv as you can get anywhere else.SS,not real heavy, crazy easy bottom button with a lock(if you need that)and usually in stock. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the top cap(510 connection)it needs to be a flat top,the rounded top leaves a gap tween the DID and the legacy.

Well, until Jim makes something... that looks pretty good. Compact and slim. Thanks!

I just got a legacy and i really like it! Great build quality, and I don't notice the gap so much! Got it 2 days after ordering!

This is how you get rid of hot spots for ever!! Twisted 34 awg .20 nichrome or kanthal 5 coil wrap over a small piece of cig paper...you will always get 1.3 to 1.5 lr ohms with this method...vape it at around 4.5 to 4.8 for an insain awesome vape....enjoy your vapor!!
