This is how you get rid of hot spots for ever!! Twisted 34 awg .20 nichrome or kanthal 5 coil wrap over a small piece of cig paper...you will always get 1.3 to 1.5 lr ohms with this method...vape it at around 4.5 to 4.8 for an insain awesome vape....enjoy your vapor!!
Twisted as in 2 coil segments twisted together then wrapped around the wick? Like dual coil action on one wick? I was curious about that.

You need to keep rolling until you have blisters on your fingers :(. I can only make 1 tight fat wick a day.
hey man, so...yeah... I just had a look at the 500 mesh thread and just discovered that in fact my wicks are useless.
not tight enough, not thick enough to promote capillary action. In fact according to BJ43 all i'm using would be gravitational juice flow... that's probably the main reason i cant close that hole! no wicking... thanks bud, appreciate...
looks like I still have some homework to do

32. 1.2-1.3. Using the same since I got the did But I'm not a person trying to get the most vapor. This is reliable and good better then any cart. Basic 3.7 volts. Use 60/40 vg/pg with 5% tabac flav.
Better then the reds. :).

+10!! The vapor and flavor is right on for me too. (and I'm at 80/20 I think, with Altcig juice). I'm going to try the 28/500 and 30/500 though, out of curiosity sake. I doubt if I'll like it, because I hear you get 2 or 3 exhales with each inhale. The exhale is quite fantastic with my regular setup, actually quite perfect for me most of the time. Every once in awhile it dawdles on me, but when it does it means there's either gunk or a small short somewhere and it's usually an easy peasy fix. Still, I am a curious... yet I procrastinate...

Tonight just for fun ....because I have all my DIDs running great with thick wick and 4 wraps of 30awg bringing my ohms in at 1.2....I decided to see how little torching I could get away with.
Using 500 mesh I cut my 3.5 x 11cm strip of mesh. I ran just the part that will be on the outside of the wick through my torch as a quickie Jack Frost. Then I briefly ran the bottom edge through the flame. The rest of the wick was unoxidized. I rolled me a tight wick...wrapped a 4 wrap 30 awg coil, torched it on the wick until coil glowed red. Popped it in the DID and tightened the nuts. A few minutes of tinkering with shorts and voila working great.
I did not even do any juice burns. Wicking great. Steady 1.1 ohm coil. I am thinking this wick should last longer because it hasn't been burned.
Compared to how I used to nuke my wicks in the beginning.....what a difference. I definitely think less is more when oxidizing.
Has anyone tried a completely unoxidized wick to see what happens? Just might have to try this.

Dude I’m almost there! Vapor and throat hit are insane! The vapor is nice and warm too :) Only thing is the taste isn’t there (very muted, like a bad carto) due to this short I’m trying to fix. The juice I’m using is pink spots black mamba, so mostly pg. Its wicking like a champ. Ive poked and prodded the coil and wick every which way but its being stubborn. A few times I fixed it but then it would short on the bottom coils or it comes back after a very vapes. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, did the pk method using 32ga 5/4 wrap at 2.2ohms.

This is also what I get when the top of my wick dries out. Slow wicking a tip solves or need to push the top coil closer to the wick.

I'd dowse the coil with juice and burn it a couple time (not all the way to a red coil dry burn, but enough to start building up a good layer where the coil goes), then just give the wick a 1/4 turn to move the coil onto a place where you just cooked some juice (kind of extra oxidizing in place). Micro shorts (bottom of tank, inside wick hole or top cap touching) can reduce flavor. I can see you're below the top of center post (so not touching top cap) and raised off tank bottom (so not shorting there). I'd bet there's a micro in the wick hole, but if you can isolate the coil well enough it won't matter and the flavor will come through.

One of the guys in another thread uses the Petar K method, and doesn't oxidize at all. Just to prove it worked, he left the edge all raggedy, and touched the bottom with the wick, and it works just fine.

I wonder if he boils his mesh for 15 minutes to remove all residue before use?

A member of this thread contacted phiniac and they refused to make them. I contacted sagewood glass and they had too much on their plate at the time but said they wanted to try their hand at it when they have time. Bert of trippy tips made one for a member a long while back but they were a personal friend of his. Not sure if he would make another or not. I'm waiting for mister Kai of sagewood to contact me and let me know they have time to make one.

they use it on a device where the wick hole is ceramic insulated, don't they?

Nope, no boiling at all. We've had some lengthy conversations about it. I can't get it to work, he does it all the time. I simply have issues doing the Petak K method. I do better at sizing a coil to a wick vs the other way around.

Nope, different device. But, I personally throw those things in the garbage can myself. :D

I hope they do it for us!
I read on another forum that the Ibetanked is playing around with the genuine one now, in hopes of cranking them out.

Hi folks,

I've asked this question before, but am going to try again ;)

What do you recommend for a SMALL, LIGHT, 18650 mod?

I've had people recommend the Caravella, GG (Golden greek?) and the GGPAPS. None of the three are available for purchase right now.

When I'm at home I am rotating between my DID and my ZAP on a Provari. Loving both. When I'm out and about I'm mostly vaping my NGP Hybrid... the 'mod' section is tiny. Barely bigger than an 18650 battery, made of aluminum, and light as a feather. I'm not a fan of all the plastic in the genesis section, though, and would like to switch to my DID. I just need something small to put it on! :)

Her"s my cheap one. You can get them for 38 or so ss 45 telescope

Super t precice 18350 is great, hits always, low maintenance and coupled with a did mini rocks. Ya, I know you said 18650, but for small, pocket friendly, etc, its a great mod and available with 2, 3 week shipping, just saying...

And the standard or short DID fit perfectly on the flat top 18350 / 18650...
