good point about the preservation of the finish, t-cad. Seeing as how many of us will often use smaller atties as well; I think the gap is preferable to worn off - scuffed up paint with a smaller atty on.
just for sizing/documentation/statistical purposes. I went smack flush to the 510 (I blackened it with sharpie and didn't stop grinding til I got the first glint of metal. then I smoothed lightly with a file and called it good). Anyway, when flush to the 510 I get a good 1mm gap under my Nimbus clone.
Right now I have a little version Rob 0-ring (←tech talk) on the cup and a 1mm thick fiber washer on that and I get a perfect juice seal with the atty bottomed out on the 510.
