Hi all, new to this forum. :):)
have not started vaping yet.

Just curiuos, from where i am, a pack of cig cost around 9usd, i am a pack a day guy.
Besides getting off analog, does ecig save me money in the long haul?

Well when I first started vaping I was going with cartridges. I realized that it was about as much maybe a little less than I was paying before. I used to smoke two packs a day so $300+ a month.
When I switched to juice I was saving a lot more. You buy your battery and whatever you want may it be an atomizer or tank, etc.
I probably vape about 2ml a day. Depending on where you buy juice depends on the price, I noticed the more you pay the better the juice is generally. Right now I'm paying 16 plus shipping for 36ml of juice.
I just went from $13 a day to about a dollar a day.
Yes, it will save you money in the long haul.

As everyone has already stated, it all depends on how you approach vaping. If your happy with one or two good setups, and only buy juice/cartos/attys then the savings can/will really add up.

If your like me and have found vaping to be a very enjoyable hobby, then like any hobby, it can (if you so choose) be expensive. It's all in how you approach it :)

    Hi,
Well, I buy a lot of 'shiny new toys' but even with that, in 2 and a half years, I saved enough to pay the difference when I traded my car for a newer used car. That is over 4k even with buying stuff. I go in spurts, buy a bunch and then don't buy for months. I look for good deals and stock up with sales. I would say I have saved a lot of money as well as the other benefits. Also, my newer car doesn't stink of smoke.

This is what my ex or I have spent on my vaping since I started over 4 months ago, now for a lot of that time I was still smoking some but many of us do that.

ego-T system, case and juice $110
juices from a couple places $100
BB a charger and batteries $120
vivi nova and some wire to recoil with $ 25
misc things like clearos and cartos $ 30
DIY supplies for the last 2 months $ 50

Even while I was still smoking some I was seeing a savings, now that I have a good setup, a delivery system I like, and flavors for DIYing my own juice what use to cost me $200 a month for cigs now runs me less than $25 a month on juice.

I spent a lot at first buying pre-filled cartos so it wasn't a lot of saving while I was doing that. I bought several items that did not work as well as they should or that I did not like. I saved a lot of money for other people because I could advise them not to buy things that I had tried and did not work (leaked etc.)

I now use the Twist and Vivi Nova (ready to buy the Mini Nova) and have 2 years supply of nicotine and DIY supplies (only have to buy flavoring as I require it, I can get that locally). I can re-wick and coil the Novas so my NEEDS are pretty well met. I will soon buy the Mini and some different thread protectors, maybe a new case, none of it very costly.

Of the money saved (in my signature) I have $500 cash on hand and have also given my daughter $100 worth of gear to start.

Meanwhile, I am Relaxing and Enjoying!

As you can see from my banner, my break even isn't until October and that is for hardware. I went the stupid newbie route: Blu, then 510, then eGo Twist and finally settled on a ProVari for home, eGo for when I am out. I bought enough for mixing my own to last me 3 years (read and read how to property store and use the Nic and make my own, bought by the liter). So, if I don't buy another thing once I hit the October mark I will be spending $2.02 per week on consumables.

And I have a LOT of stuff.

Absolutely. Provided of course you don't do both. Concentrate on quality gear at first. At $9 a pack you can get a nice kit and some juice for the cost (or less) of a carton. You need to continue buying juice but you can think of that as getting about two cartons for the price of one pack moving foward. My wife is vaping now and we are saving over $200 per month. We get to spend a good chunk of that on increased food costs, increased insurance costs, etc.
Vaping is not making us rich but it makes dealing the other stuff easier.

if you skip all starter kits, and go straight for a lavatube mini, and devote yourself to one juice and not try 100's like I have then yes, youll save ALOT of money. I save money anyways as I spent around 190.00/month on cigs :)

SKIP ALL STEPS AND GET THE LAVATUBE MINI !!! 52.00 FOR THE FULL STARTER KIT ... IF NOT YOULL JUST KEEP MOVING UP FROM SMALL ONES TO BIGGER WITH NICE BATTERY LIFE AND MORE VAPOR!!

edit: If you spend alot of time on these forums buying every ecig someone suggests .. you wont save money lol. Just skip all and go for the lavatube mini ... trust me pls.

I've been vaping for about 3 weeks now and set a strict weekly budget that equals what I was spending on cigs. I'm stocked on juice and have several battery & delivery options, so this week, I'm not ordering anything just to prove to myself that it can save me money. I've also taken a liking to unflavored juice and mix my own (cheap and easy, just treat it with respect and wear gloves). If I wanted to, I could easily go a month on the equipment I have.

After browsing some online retailer, now i understood why the start up cost might be high .
All those nice shiny things, oh my....irresistible.

Is 2ml a day the usual amount a smoker need for vaping?

When I was dripping with atomizers, I used less than 2ml a day. Now that I am using a vision ego clearomizer, I use around 3.5ml per day. This will vary a lot depending on your setup and usage.

When I started, I was doing about 3ml a day at 18mg strength (pack a day smoker). Now, I'm doing more like 4ml or 5ml per day because I use delivery systems that suck down the juice faster and provide more vapor. Still, my juice expenses per month are less than what I used to pay per week on cigs.

That's what i'm thinking, will it turn out to be an expensive hobby.
On the upside, it will help lay off cigarette, and not as destructive to health.

Just stay away from the "Show us your setup!" threads and the classifieds and you should do fine. :D On the other hand, if you're going to spend money on a hobby, this is a very good hobby on which to spend that money.
