Define "save money"? lol i spend a lot on buying stuff but i dont really NEED it so if i had it to do over again i would probably get a silver bullet with the kick ring and a couple batteries charger and a few tanks.........wait i already did that.....well anywho i spoent in the neighborhood of 200 for my first set up and watched all i could find on good old trustworth youtube and got the VG an nicotine and a few flavors and the grand total was..........wait for it.........wait for it.........well it dont matter cause i was going to spend it anyway on smokes. but what i did learn was how to mix my own juice and now i vape for around 2 to 3 dollars a week...so yea it CAN save you a ton of money if you dont get all crazy and figure hell i was gonna spend it anyway....

Fiance was smoking 1.5 packs a day at $11.97 a pack. That's about $538 a month. With cartos, juice, batteries and mods we're probably in it for about $300 our first month. So we're still $238 ahead. We're not going to be buying mods each month and have figured out which juices to buy and which ones to avoid. Ongoing costs will be about $35 a month. That's not bad at all.

I am still very new to vaping. It has cost me way more then I was spending on analogs and I don't care a bit that it has :toast:

Reading the replies to this thread it doesn't seem like many came from the same place as I was when I started vaping. I quite smoking 11 months ago and lasted about 5 months then went back to smoking for just over a month and quite again. From that point on I seemed to eventually end up where about once every 4-5 days I would brake down and buy a package of cigarettes. Sometimes I would last even 6-7 days. Still I always ended up buying and smoking a pack of cigarettes at least once a week.

So I really wasn't spending that much on cigs. You might wonder why I would start vaping when I had gotten down to only buying a pack of smokes every 4-5 days. Why not continue to try to work towards quiting all together and be smoke free?

The problem was I never got off of nicotine at all. All I did was replace cigarettes with nicotine replacement sytems like the patch/gum and mist. I was spending almost as much on that stuff as I did when I was smoking everyday and still I would brake down every few days and buy cigarettes.

I was spending $40 every four days on nicotine mist. One night after I had bought and was smoking a package of cigarettes I wondered if there was anyplace online that I could just buy liquid nicotine and make my own mist up in little bottles mixed with mouth wash so each spray would equal 1mg and would be the same as using the expensive nicotine mist I was buying.

While searching the internet I discovered this forum and all about vaping/e-cigs. I have never even heard of vaping or e-cigs till that night. I knew I should read up all about vaping on this forum before I bought anything but it was more important to me that I get something ASAP so I didn't buy another package of cigarettes.

I placed an order that night for an overpriced starter ego 510 kit and some e-juice. Got it in two days and five days later ordered two ego twists as I knew the 510's where not going to do it for me.

My actions were not logical from an economic view point I knew that at the time. I didn't care about the cost all I cared about was I didn't buy another package of cigarettes and I didn't have time to do the research I should have because if I did I would have bought another pack of smokes.

If you do your research (unlike me  ) vaping is much cheaper then smoking.

When you first start down the road to vaping it doesn't seem like it has saved you much money, starter kit and juice and different delivery systems until you find that one that you know will definately keep you off the cigarettes. When I first started out it didn't seem like I saved anything and that I spent far more than I did on the smokes. Now that I have found my favorite juice, delivery system, and the mod that best fits that delivery system I haven't had to buy anything new for a month now, and still have enough juice to last me 2 more months. So unless 10 atties, 4 imr batteries and my bottles of juice all unforseeably suffer some catastrophic failure my only spending will be at the end of that second month for another 3 month supply of juice.

I have been vaping for around 3 years and before that I was a Roll Your Own guy. I spent a little more at first but over the three years I have saved a lot of money. And that is at roughly a dollar a pack for RYO.

As people have said finding what works for you at first is a little difficult. I would suggest starting out with a quality mod, Something with replaceable batteries. As for juices, buy samples until you find what works for you. No sense buying large size bottles until you know you like them.

Good luck.

Im thinking of a ego twist kit, but local supplier seems like all out of stock.
I just wished they bring in more variety.

My colleague sold me his used ego battery for 20 bucks. i got my juices from Customized Juices & PVs. 10ml for 12bucks. u should try a starter kit 1st. if not u can go vapelah.com see see look look =)

my questions exactly! I think for me, i will be spending waaay more initially specially that I am wanting to find the perfect vape that will really satisfy me cravings and get rid of that burnt plastic taste i got when vaping Blu (my first foray into the e-cig world). I got myself the best equipment i could get my hands on and assess from there. I joined the ECF recently for guidance, and enlightment for my quest to have the perfect vapor for me...

Hello, I smoked about a pack and a half for around 14 years and have been vaping for only a month. I can already tell you that my lungs are already feeling better. About 1 week in, I was hacking up phlem (sp?) and having some difficulty sleeping. But after a few days of that I feel great. I can take deep breaths easier now and fall asleep easily.

As for being cheaper than analogs....for me, not yet. But that is because I made uninformed desicions when I first started. My first kit was the V2 at around $75). I have since went with Happyesmokers clearomizer kit for $30 and just buy liquid. I have some extra batteries on the way, but mainly for backup. My problem as far as money was concerned, was that I would go into a gas station, pick up a couple packs of smokes, and buy some candy or soda as well. I never really bought many cartons since I am always on the go. I have since consumed much less soda, 1 analog (which tasted nasty) and feel so much better!

Here a pack is 10.50-11.50CAD. So far I've bought 2 full kits (808 and ego), around....500mL of assorted juice, cartos, clearos, atomizers, tanks, 2 larger batteries, and I've still managed to save money over the 2 months I've been vaping.

I'm now more comfortable with what I like, so the savings will get much better. Once I start mixing my own juices the cost will be down to around 30$/mo, compared to the 300$+ I was spending.

So, long story longer: Yes. It will save you money. Maybe not right away, while you figure out your preferences (juice can add up while you look for something you can enjoy all day), the only thing that will be costing you is replacement hardware/software, occasional replacement batteries, and if you're like me, new toys.

Take one month of smoking money, put it to vaping. You'll have enough kit to last a couple months easily, though you may end up buying new stuff sooner, most folks like to try different things at first but that's not a rule.

Yet another edit, with an example:
Juice here is ~15$/30ml. 30 will last me 7-10 days. A new tank (just arrived) was 10. 5 cartomizers for it: 6$ (bought 2 packs, they should last a week-ish per). Total cost on my last order was 45$ after express 2 day shipping, but that's just the hardware, I already have plenty of juice at this point. It should last me a couple months.

Been vaping for 3 weeks and so far I've spent way more than I would have smoking. However, this is mostly because I can't stop buying toys! LOL!

The cost in juice has been way less than cigarettes. I was spending about $12-$20 per day on smokes but with juice it's only been about $5 every 2-3 days. That's going to be even less now that I have some 60mg nicotine and a few flavors to mix my own.

I would say that it can be quite expensive to become a vaper, but once you have the hardware it's a huge cost savings over analogs. That is, IF you are able to stop yourself from buying every item you read about, hear about or see....which is difficult for me!
