I have a meter, but only use it on cartos (to see if they are 2.0 or 3.0). I have never checked my batteries. They say you should, but with one battery mods like Pop's wood box, it isn't needed.

BTW, I love my Herring Bone box mod. It is the only thing I have used for months. I don't even carry a backup.

I like the blue Trustfire 14500 more than the AW IMR and Ultrafires.

Hmmm....says it's for advanced users only, and something about doing homework. I have a classic box mod and have been thinking about getting one of those skinny ones. Probably the Royal since the Timber is out of stock. Pop's wood box mods are easy, just right for me. lol

Before I get another one I've been trying to educate myself about batteries. I don't have one of those meter things and don't know if I need to check the batteries after charging when I just use one at a time and don't stack them. I've been doing a lot of reading, but still haven't found that out.

You are correct, VV is for advanced users and you need to do a lot of homework on battery chemistry, the volt/amp/ohm/watt relationships, etc before you venture into it if you're going to get the most out of it safely. The box mods are easy and work extremly well and if it ain't broke...... Single battery mods are the safest and really no need to check the batteries as long as you use good batteries on the correct charger and the normal precuations you're already doing like putting it in the right way lol. I still prefer a single battery fixed voltage device to take with me but I love the vv at home. If I'm on my tractor there's usually a volt on a lanyard around my neck.

The Vmax will read you the carto ohms and battery charge but I always check both batteries to make sure they're at the same state of charge and not overcharged before putting them in. Stacked batteries are safe enough if you use the correct ones and follow the correct procedures for charging. I agree on the Trustfires for single battery fixed voltage but on the Vmax you need the AW IMR high drain or the protection circuit in the others won't let the battery drain at a high enough rate to keep up with the demand. What amazes me is that the 700mah lasts so long before recharging. This is what I've learned from researching this forum. If I'm wrong in any of it somebody please come along and correct me...Like Pwyll...

P0P's box mods are awesome. I carry one of those zippered pouches with a spare battery and a 6ml bottle of Haze. I don't need nothing else. The 14500s last for all day, and I got them used a year ago.

I just can't recommend these boxes enough. I have dropped it more times than I can remember. The door still fits perfectly. Maybe I am just lucky, but I love my mod!

That's a beauty! Mine is the Classic. I like it a lot, but ever since I saw those thinner ones I've been wanting one. Guess there's no reason I can't have two. lol

I just looked at them on the site again and it looks like the Timber is back in stock. I better get serious about getting my order together before they sell out again.

If someone comes along to correct you they'll be correcting me as well since that pretty much sums up my understanding of things--except to note that unprotected batteries are protected in PV's like the Infinity Pro, Buzz Pro, Provari and VMax as the units themselves offer the same functions as the PCB's in the protected batteries.

And in so doing the device is controlling the battery instead of the other way around. Thanks for the confirmation.

No reason not to have a collection of them really. At least a backup. That Timber is a sharp looking mod for sure.

I ordered the Timber (along with a few bottles of juice...lol) and got my shipping notice today. I'm really anxious to see what it looks like. Now I'm waiting for the battle packs!

Thanks, pop. I'm sure I will enjoy it. And it will probably be like the Classic.....prettier in person than in the picture.

Deleting it while you post someplace else doesn't do any good Pop. When you put it back on it shows in all your post from day one lol. Go wherever you were and check it out. I don't know if it matters or not since it's a banner if you don't associate yourself with it or say anything about your business. Other supplier associates have them and post all over the place.
