So, my dragon blem arrived, and it's most definitely a BLEM! There are two tiny scratches, and one big one that looks like the etcher skidded down the tube after inscribing the word "ProVari" -- it's coming right off of the letter "i" in this pic:

Oddly it came with the voltage set at 4.6 and there was a dead battery inside!! The battery was at 1.64v. The 'Vari was in the "on" state, too!

Well, there goes that theory..

My initial reaction:

All I heard was "Dragon' and 'free battery'!

I know, right?! 8-o

As for the scratches, well, them's the breaks with a blem.. You always roll the dice with those.. Sort of sucks it's right on the logo & appears to be pretty visible, but in general, it shouldn't be a surprise..

What is, though, is that whole battery thing... That is not cool!

Gonna give it a charge? :D

Aside from all that, how is the full-size Dragon, overall?

Yep, even though that's a pretty big scratch, you have to looking at it at exactly the right angle to see it, so, not disappointed at all!

Shipping with an over-discharged battery inside, set to "on," is a pretty big error in my book though! But yeah: free battery! I've got it on my xtar VP1 charging right now. After 2 hours it's at 3.94v.

Overall, I am really happy I ended up with a full-size dragon. The dragon etching does not look crowded, and has an elegant abstractness to it!

Woooo!

You're braver than me.. Not so sure I'd be using that battery.. Maybe others will chime in on its safety after such a draining.. Assuming it's an AW IMR?

Glad you like the Dragon!

I just realized that the whole "shipped with a batt inside" dealie is actually a testament to the protective circuitry of the 'Vari! Of course nothing bad happened! :D

Yep, it's an AW IMR...and I googled a bit before popping it on my VP1, just to be on the safe side. It has been charging as expected...in fact it just finished! Once it was over 2v (back in the safe zone) I did feel a bit of relief though!

Oh, my sig! Thanks for the reminder -- off to do that straight away!

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I personally don't think I would be happy with a scratched Dragon. It is such a limited piece I don't think having a scratched one just to have one would do. But as long as those that get them are happy that's all that matters.

Tap'd from my LG G2
I don't think it matters if it is scratched. I didn't buy one, anyway. My hands did it automatically without engaging my brain at all.

Well mine is sitting safely at my post office right now, hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow, sorry about the big scratch on yours. :(
I will report on mine when I get it.

The Dragon arrived today I haven't found anything wrong. I like the full sized one very much. Glad now I didn't order the Mini.

I am a happy camper! :)

lizziebith You might be able to buff the scratches out.

I buffed out the kayfun tank on my Dragon. That kayfun was a matte finish before. It would have to be very fine sand paper to do it. My husband told me I could buff the kayfun tank to get a shine like the polished mini. He said it would take time though.

Yeah, I think at least some credit is due to both the ProVari & the AW..

BTW, you might want to take a peek at this thread every now & then.. :D

At least so far, people are saying it should be okay to use now...
