Hi All,

New member here. Just wanted to introduce myself.

I currently smoke roll-ups (about 15-20 a day) and have decided to give vaping a try after several work colleagues made the switch with great success.

Having done my research, I’m a bit concerned about any side effects I may suffer from giving up the cigarettes. I am also a bit wary of how ‘safe’ vaping actually is, since there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports here on the web. However, I’m willing to give it a go and see how I get on – I’m almost certain it won’t be as bad as smoking roll-ups. We all KNOW that cigarettes are bad for us, but nobody seems to have a definitive answer regarding vaping. I guess it’s that uncertainty that’s causing my hang-ups.

I saw that Totally Wicked had a 25% off sale and purchased 2 Tornado-T E-NIC Mega 1000mAh manual batteries, a 3.5ml tank and carto, charger and 10ml of American Red juice (11mg/ml). This should be enough to get me started, and the discount was nice too :) After I’ve tried it for a few days I’ll order more cartos/juice it seems I’m enjoying it.

I’m glad I went for the 11mg (Medium) – I tried a friends e-cig and he was using High strength e-liquid and one (fairly big) drag gave me a huge nicotine rush!

Also, does anyone know how long Totally Wicked normally take to deliver their shipments? I’ve just had an email saying it’s been dispatched, but for some reason the tracking code link doesn’t seem to work.

Matt

Hi Matt, welcome to ECFand congrats. After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the servers to reset and you can post here. Chrissie is a wealth of info for UK Vapers
UK Forum
Good Luck.

Hi Matt,

I can vouch for the info on the UK forum, its really good. I have just bought the Rok star starter kit, I didnt want to start with custom kits straight away and im loving it.

Now on day 9 without cigs and not had a craving since. I too had a little too much with 24mg but have since downgraded to 18mg and will look to downgrade again within a few weeks.

Maybe you could keep an 18mg for those 'need a real cig' moments. If im having a crave I use the 24mg and it pretty much stops it in its tracks!

Hello & welcome Matt :)

If you have had a dispatch note from Totally Wicked, then you should receive your kit tomorrow, Royal Mail Willing :)

Although the 25% off makes their prices very good at the moment, TW aren't usually the cheapest. Here is a list of other good UK vendors -

ALL ABOUT E-CIGARETTES UK - E-cigarette & E-liquid Vendors List.

BTW, the Tornado, is just a rebranded ego & anything with a 510 thread will fit on it. A lot of folks have problems with the T type atomiser/tank system. So you would most likely do a lot better buying & using cartomisers instead.

Unfortunately much of the info you've read on the web is from people and/ or groups with ulterior motives. I've been Vaping for almost a year and the be benefits have been incredible. My GP, Dentist and Surgeon all support and encourage my Vaping and they are also amazed at my improved health. Awhile I gave a presentation to 43 healthcare professionals- at the end 37 stated they would advise their clients to try Vaping if other cessation methods were not successful. Planning another one soon. Realize also the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons endorses Vaping.
The Very Best of Luck to You.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome. I wasn't expecting so many replies so soon!

Crissie: Thanks for the link about the retailers, I'll have a browse through that when I get home from work. And thanks for the heads up on the T-type atomiser/tank. I'm lazy and don't want to be re-filling all the time, so I went for the DCT carto and tank from TW so hopefully I shouldn't have that issue.

Vapoor eyes er: Thanks for putting my mind a bit more at ease. At the minute, I'm just going to see how I get on and play things by ear. I'm not saying I'll never have another cigarette again, but if I can cut my intake by 95% then that's got to be a good thing, right? Plus you don't get to play with gadgets if you're smoking regular old cigarettes! I'm looking at this as a learning experience and hopefully a step in the right direction. The savings on the cost of cigarettes is also a huge draw (pun intended).

You're very welcome. Some immediately give up smoking while others cut thier analog drastically until one day they wake up and either forget to have an analog or realize they enjoy Vaping more. My belief is and always will be Vaping should be a stress free and healthy alternative to analogs...in short, enjoy the ride while at the same time reap the immense health benefits of Vaping. Just remember to drink lots of water as Vaping dehydrates and dehydration can ruin the Vaping experience. I drink at least 1 1/2 liters water per day. PG and VG are humicants and trap the moisture from our mouth and throats and thus the vapor.
Cheers.

First fill of your carto whether using alone or in a tank is VERY IMPORTANT and will determine the longevity of your carto. When using light juice in a carto/ tank my carto lasts 80- 90 ml. With dark juice carto lasts 50- 60 ml. For a great very detailed video search google "PBusardo filling Boge" for a YouTube vid. If your cartos are flanged push mouth end into condom. Key is to push carto down VERY SLOWLY.
Good Luck.

My shipment arrived. Set it all up with the tank etc. I'm vaping away as we speak! Thanks for all the help guys.

I kinda wish I'd gone for something more adventurous than a tobacco flavour. It's not as satisfying as I'd hoped. Think I'll try a stronger nicotine level next time too. I'm vaping 11mg, I'll see if that can hold off the nicotine cravings. It's difficult to say at the minute, it's so different to smoking and I don't have anything to compare it to.

I put 20-30 drops in my carto and then filled the tank up. All went to plan but after just a few drags the rear of the carto looked dry (I pulled the drip tip off to have a peek). Is this normal? I was expecting the filler to stay wet with it being fed by the tank?

What PG/ VG ratio is your juice? If it's thick possibly the hole isn't large enough.
Also carto first fill is VERY important whether using in a tank or alone. It will determine the longevity of your carto. Also if you see bubbles coming from the carto juice hole there's negative pressure- to equalize pull carto out until air can enter tank.
I vape 70/30 PG/VG and punch my own hole- one hole X 2.5 mm.
With a tank my cartos lasts:
80-90 ml- light juice
50-60 ml- dark juice.
