Hey, let me start off by saying that i am new to this forum and still fairly new to vaping. A few months ago i picked up an eleaf istick 30w and a ....ty cheap eleaf tank that only runs up to 20w. I was able to quit smoking using that and now i would like to upgrade. I am planning on upgrading to a new setup and i have been researching mods and tanks. As of right now i am looking at getting a Smok alien box mod and a Uwell Crown tank. My questions are would that be a good combination? If so any recommendations on where to purchase these? Like i said i'm still fairly new to the whole thing so any input and tips would be appreciated.
Also sorry if this is in the wrong section, in which case if someone could move it i'd appreciate it.

General rule:
Mods are just the battery / power supply - these days I look for a comfortable fit - in the hand and in the pocket

Tanks fall very distinctly into 2 groups - dependant on your style of vaping:

MTL (mouth to lung) or DL (Direct Lung) tanks

MTL is probably like you smoked a cigarette - draw the vapor into your mouth, remove device and then inhale - most people MTL with higher strength nicotine juices, and use a lower power setting 15-20 watts

DL is simply breathing through the airflow of the tank, while firing - so you take the vapor directly down to the lungs then breath out (big clouds) - there is no sharp intake of breath to inhale - This style of vaping usually uses 3-6mg High VG juices, and power settings 30-40 watts up to 80+ watts

Good starter MTL tank would be an Aspire Mini nautilus with 1.8ohm Clapton Coils for the Triton Mini

Good starter DL tank would be the UWell Crown, is a great tank - wicks well and works on any mod capable to higher power setting like 75+ watts

I have done a lot of research on the different styles of tanks and used some friends' vapes as well. I believe i would like a DL tank like the Crown. I take it the mod doesn't make much of a difference as long as it reaches the required wattage. Also any suggestions as to what sites would be trustworthy for purchasing the Smok Alien (or whatever i decide to purchase) and which ones to avoid. Thanks.

Also research the coils you will be using in the tank. Does the MOD do the correct Mode for Temperature Control with the coils you will be using? If your looking for a Sub Ohm tank I recommend the Kangertech Pangu with the SS316L coils.

Vape On Safely
It does have the temperature control thing but i believe that's only for the nickel coils? I plan on using the normal ones with normal wattage settings. I did look into the different coils and the mod i chose can definitely handle these (mod goes to 220w, coil range is 80w-120w) I just purchased the mod and the tank. Maybe ill post an update once they arrive and let you guys know how it's working out for me. Thanks guys, ik this was a pretty pointless thread lol i just wanted a bit more input before making a purchase but i believe i will be happy with my choice.

I agree - Don't forget these posts will be picked up by others in the future

You should be happy with your purchase, the Crown tank is good

Just remember the flavour is always a power to wicking ratio

Go easy on the power settings, you need enough power to properly get the coil up to temperature to vapourise the juice, not just boil it - but you also need the power set low enough for the wick to recover !!!!!

Difficult to give you numbers, begin around 30 watts and increase - it depends on the juice you are using, also the power of your lungs to create a sufficient low pressure under the coil when vaping, so the tank can recover the vacuum created by the juice used in the tank. Any burning issues, just release the tank pressure by twisting the top fill off a couple of turns - you'll see bubbles rise through the liquid and all will be well again - DON'T just assume you have burned out the coil !!! :)
