Ok, after a few days of indecisiveness, I went ahead and ordered the Volt MaXx, 900 mAh, auto.

I was deciding between the Echo/iTurbo and the Volt. While about $10 more than an Echo 1300 mAh, the Volt big battery had 3 things going for it over the Echo: Passthrough, charge time and Smokeless Image's reputation of good quality control.

And, the charger is included, with a 3-foot cord for passthrough vaping.

I'll report on it after it arrives early next week.

I got the Volt MaXx in today, and have been vaping on it for about 9 hours. Smokeless Image has top-notch shipping - I ordered it on Wed. night and it was at my door on Sat: standard shipping.

This thing is nice. You can tell it's well made. It has a 3 ft micro USB cable, and of course the passthrough. The draw is a bit stiffer than my gen 1 808s, and of course it's regulated, which is new for me, but I like it. It's still going on the initial charge with moderate vaping. Of course, it's 900 mAh. My first big batt, and I'm glad I waited long enough for the Volt. I really can't imagine needing another 900 mAh.

Another thing: it has threading for cones! I checked the SI forum and apparently eGo cones fit perfectly, and I imagine SI will be selling them soon. It appears the photos of the MaXx are of the prototype/early version.

One minor issue is that I have to loosen the cap over the USB to get an easier draw, but not really a problem. If you don't want stealth, you can remove it anyway.

Smokeless Image is going to be releasing a big carto of some sort very soon. I think they'll be taking over the 808-D world.

Here are some close up shots I took for anyone who is interested.

Does anyone who has one of these know if there are carto compatibility issues with them? On my regular manual Volt battery, V4L cartos and Elite cartos just don't work. Nothing happens when I press the button. It's like the battery is dead. On my Elite battery, every type of 808 carto I've put on it works. But I really want a regulated battery. Right now I'm using 2.0 ohm Boge cartos on my GoGo with an 808 adapter. I'm very happy with that setup, as the LR Boge cartos don't burn even when the GoGo battery is right off the charger. But one of my GoGo batteries is having problems so I don't want to use it at all (I've gotten extremely nervous about batteries), and since I don't want to leave the other one charging overnight, I'm stuck. Not sure what to do.

I think I remember reading that the Igo is regulated. Maybe I'll look into that again. I think the only reason I ruled it out before was that it was too long to fit comfortably in my pocket. From what I can tell, the 900 mah and 1300 mah MaXx Volts will be too long as well. But if the Igo is regulated, I could run into the same issue with only certain cartos working with the battery. This is all so frustrating.

it sounds like your V4L cartos are not making a connection. be sure the center post on teh cartos makes contact with the center post on your battery. you can carefully pry up the center post on the carto to make sure there is a connection.

its likely that your elite batt center post is raised, allowing all cartos to work on it regardless of if the center post ont he cartos is too recessed.

That worked! Thanks a bunch!

I just received my 900 mah volt maxx battery today, and I am very happy with it. It is preforming wonderfully and came to me charged up :) I have a question though, if anyone here has one do you know i the 510 style cones will it the threading on these volt maxx batteries. I see there is a threading but I don't want to go ahead and buy a cone meant or an ego and have it not fit

Someone in the MaXx thread in the SI forum said that their eGo cone fit. So did Imagine.

But - according to Imagine, Smokeless is releasing an "XL carto" and a "cone-like new item" very, very soon. They also stated that they will carry a low cost cone: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...new-batteries-passthrough-17.html#post5549623

My thinking is that these items will be made available during their St. Patty's day sale. It seems that would be most logical.

I'm loving this Volt MaXx.

I wonder if this battery will fit iGo carto and clearo (Nhaler has them) or maybe SI will have big carto like Echo or iTurbo…

Using big battery with standard KR8 carto is like riding a Smart car on Germany's Autobahn, no?

My guess is that Smokeless's forthcoming "XL carto" will have around the same capacity of the Echomizers. I really love their horizontal coil cartos. I've dissected old ones after a week+ use and they hold up extremely well. The XL should be awesome. And a great thing about SI is that you know everything works with everything else. To me, they're kind of the "Apple" of the vaping world (except very affordable).

And yes, that's how it feels right now- standard cartos on this thing doesn't do it justice.

not so much imo. bigger cartos dont necessarily mean better. its all about the resistance (ohms). other than that, its just a size issue.

Yeah, size DO matter sometimes... of course the resistance also matter.
The 3ml cartos vs. 1.x ml cartos is just too obvious to ignore, well at least for me.

But I agree, I would love to try 2-2.5Ω cartos on this big batt

Anybody tried an iGo Crystal Vision carto on these yet? I got my 900mah on the way, and I'm feeling incredibly under prepared to break that bad boy in when it gets here...all I have right now are some D-1 ClearoCartos from Nhaler....which while are suprisingly awesome on my volt pass through...(not so much on my auto Volt battery)...I really want to take advantage of the size. This is my first step away from the analog look-a-like batteries, I want to do it right.

I just got my 1300mah one last night, and this sucker is huge. Like an inch longer than the big iGo batteries I have. (Freud might have had something to say about the quest for ever larger batteries, were he alive today.) I guess the extra size is to accomodate the USB connector and passthrough circuitry. But, yeah. It's big.

Works nice! I don't use LR cartos, but it works fine with my 2.6-2.8 ohm Fluxomizers. My only gripe is the 2-foot passthrough cable, not long enough to really be convenient for where my computer is placed. And they made it mini-USB instead of micro-USB, so if you have a longer cable that came with your phone/kindle/whatever, it won't work with those.

All in all a good product though.

Hadn't thought of that. Cone threads add some length as well as a usb connection. Still a little leary on these. I've never gotten anything higher than four good months out of a battery that charges via a usb, even if I resisted using it as a passthrough. And they did say they weren't reinventing the wheel, just using available technology. The 650 for 20 bucks is close to reasonable for a battery and charger, though.
