Welcome to ecf. Plenty to learn and loads of great members to help. Can you tell us a little more of what you expect. i.e. Does it have to look like a cig or 'as long as you get off the cigs, you don't mind what it looks like'. I too was a very heavy smoker for many years, and it took a device with vv to give me the hit and satisfaction I needed. There are also lots of vendors in the UK. The only ones I can think of at the moment are White Cloud and Totally Wicked. Add a .com to the end of each and have a look.

:)

Welcome to ECF and the wonderful world of vaping.

Simple Set Up is are 2 CTwists, a charter, and an EVOD or Pro Tank. Start with 24mg e-liq, something that sounds good to you. Don't try to mimic what you have been smoking, go outside the norm, if vanilla sounds good, get vanilla, if watermelon sounds good, get watermelon. I like the CTwists because they give you the ability to change the voltage to dialin the flavor. (start low, work up until you find what you like). I like the EVOD and ProTanks because they are bottom coils. Gravity does the job. Turn the tank upside down, fill it. Put the base on, then wait a few minutes for the wick to saturate, then GO. If it starts running out, turn the tank upside down, fill it and go! (on refills, you don't need to wait for the wick, it's already ready). Very simple to use. And they coils are replaceable fairly cheaply. If you're a tinkerer, they are also rebuildable.

Why to Ctwists? You will want one charging while you're using the other :) (and you will learn that backup to your backups is a mantra here ) With regular cigs, if you run out, you run to the store. With E-cigs, if you run out, you might have to wait on the post.

Good Luck! And if you have questions, ask, plenty here willing to help!

Thanks Sugar_and_Spice :)
I'm not too worried about the look of the e-cig, just as long as it's not too heavy.
I would like a device with a good throat hit and also one that is not too expensive to 'keep running'.
I will have a look at the sites you mentioned, thanks.

Throat hit is determined by the ejuice you order. PG will give more of a throat hit, while VG give more of a smooth hit. I go with a 50/50 combo, but you can order ejuice in just about any division. i.e. PG/VG-- 80/20, 70,30 etc.
Mike has offered a good solution. Have a look.
:)

I am just as lost. Same heavy smoker like you and there are so many varieties around. DO you smoke those menthol one or not?
Hi dragonl,
I don't use menthol, but that's just the ejuice not a device. I looked for a Sinapore thread and can't find one, although there are plenty of members on ecf from there. I am sure someone will come by and offer you better advice.

Hi all,
I am new to vaping after being a 20 a day smoker for about 35 years.
I'm quite lost as to all the different types of e-cig and i'm looking for some advice about what to buy.
Thanks :)

Simple. Don't buy a plastic stick from one of the brands that promises you the world.
Also, don't just wade in on £50 kit, when £30-40 is plenty.

I got a kit yesterday from here.

Myepack.co.uk

I don't need batteries and chargers, but when the whole kits are good value, it makes sense to get some spares.

Please "run it by" us before you click on buy. There are some shoddy dealers and rip-off merchants out there.

When I said i'm new to vaping that's not entirely true as I tried both nicolites and e-lites, which I found useless to be honest.

I have been looking at this E VOD Starter Kit (Black) - Starter Kits
Any good?

Yup.. those will get you going for an easy kit.

I like the Ctwist (but I didn't see them from that vendor) to dial in the flavor, but I love the EVODS.. just stay away from Cinamon, Citrus, and Root beer, since they are plastic tanks.

Is a list of possible ones to stay away from. (it will give you an idea of what to avoid, even though this is an American vendor)

Personally I would go with at least 1100a ego batteries that will last U all day... this is a great kit for $44.99 (£28.79) , which ships to the UK... DV eGo-T Starter Kit - 1100mah and if U nwant to change clearomizers to Evods, or Protanks or whatever later, U can with these batteries..
