I've been smoking cigs since middle school with no real health problems to speak of. Just recently i've noticed myself getting short of breath after cigs at work. Today i just said enough is enough and gave away my cigs, went to a bodega and bought 2 disposable blu cigs. Gotta say i'm very impressed and not really craving a cig despite how goofy these things look. I'm looking to get a vape that will look and feel like a cig just so i can slowly decrease my nicotine then quit altogether. I was looking at the 777 and blu starter kits for $60. Unfortunately it's tough to find legitimate reviews for these and most looked like ads to me. Figured i'd ask some real human beings. Thanks in advance ppl some great info here.:2cool:

Wish I could help you. I tried the blue and they didn't do a thing for me. A couple of weeks went by and I thought "to heck with it" I don't care what it looks like to others as long as it works. I purchased an ego c starter kit and took a chance with a couple of flavors and a vision clearomizer. At that point I was smoking 18/day, started vaping and the first two days only had 1 and 1/2 analogs and have not even wanted any since. Ultimately, do what works for you ..... but do it! Best of luck. :thumb:

To start with, I got an automatic cigalike. That lasted two days until I figured out that the cigalike fixation is really pointless and decided to get a second generation Ego-C device. This really did it for me. Heaps of vapour, the manual battery gives you more control, the battery lasts almost a full day (800 or 900 mAh) more options of things (vaporisers) to stick on top.

After three weeks I got a variable voltage battery (Ego-C twist) for $20 and saw the light for the second time. I've also just ordered a Vamo V2 along with another twist battery, should all be here Monday I hope.

While most of us start with the cigalikes, at some point they just don't satisfy us so we look for something better. I'm still very happy with the twist batteries for work and carrying around, the Vamo will mostly be for home use.

I'm also getting into DIY, mostly to save costs but I'm also liking the flexibility it gives you. I'm mixing my own juice for a fraction of the vendor cost, and will be building my own coils for a few cents a pop. Now that my hardware aquisition is over I expect to start really saving money compared to when I was smoking.

I started with & recommend an ego kit. It's what got me & many of the other members here off the stinkys. The eroll also looks really popular. If you want to try it...even though it looks pretty expensive for the replacement cartridges...try the blu kit. I have a friend I helped & she used the blu kit to totally kick the habit in less than 3 months. She loved the blu so she didn't really want to get into anything else. It took some major willpower & she really wanted to quit. But over a couple of weeks she worked her way down from high to low nic then to nothing. So it is possible! I think it depends on how bad you really want it. If you want it you can absolutely do it! I personally plan to vape for life! Good luck!

Welcome in. I tried the ones that looked like real cigs a long time ago. They didn't last more than 2 hours. I'm going to recommend the egos too. They are the size of a medium cigar and last anywhere from 7 hours to 13 depending on mah. The ego kits can be had for like 50 bucks. Then get some juice with 18mg nicotine and your started. If it takes longer than 2 weeks to quit you'll end up way ahead than with the blu cartridges.

Tried a cigalike a couple of years ago (was a 2pack a day smoker) the cigalike did nothing for me and tossed it within 2-3 days... fast forward to August 2012 saw there was a larger battery and better systems all together. Grabbed 2 1000mah ego batteries and a couple of vivi nova's and quit the cancer sticks in 3 days. I've since moved up to (my version) of the penthouse with a Provari, Vamo, Cartomizers and carto tanks ....I've been in vaping heaven ever since. I did go a step further with genesis style attys and wire mesh wicks .... didn't like it as much due to what my work entails on a daily basis. Your milage may vary .... good luck!

Thanks all, i really appreciate the encouragement. I think I am gonna go with the eRoll kit as it looks like exactly what I'm looking for.

Whatever it takes to kick the cigarettes I guess, but the battery life of the eRoll will be less than one hour, unless you use it very sparingly. Most of us go through phases of chain-vaping while giving up the cigarettes, and so need something more substantial.

It's better to chain vape 1ml of juice than it is to take one puff of a tobacco coffin nail.

Cigarettes have more than just nicotine; about 10% of the alkaloids (90% nicotine) are other things that accentuate, prolong, and enhance the affect of nicotine. When we get to the point of withdrawal symptoms vapers tend to overcompensate with chain vaping. It works, mostly, but the equipment has to be able to keep up.

Thank you for putting this in perspective. The Ego seems like the consensus. I guess the actual functionality is more important than feeling like a cig. Thanks everyone.

@duffy

I appreciate your enthusiasm my man but that post might as well have been in Russian. I just want something easy to use and uder $100 total to wean myself off nicotine in 8 weeks or so then never touch again.

Rest assured that you can indeed get a second generation (not a cigalike) kit like the Ego-C for under $100, and it's easy to use. Unless you're a very light smoker you're not going to find the cigalike very satisfying after about day 2. This is a recurring story here, you might have noticed that we have all been through it. We're just trying to save you some cash on the first kit. Cigalikes tend to be overpriced and underperforming.

example: Tornado eGo-C E.Cig Full Kit - Black

Not a recommendation for this company over any other, I'm not even the same country, but you should be able to find any number of similar offerings with a few searches.

I started with Blu--bought the kit and all--and ended up switching in about two weeks. Tried a Joye 510-T which was also cig-a-like and left that too. Ended up with a... wait for it... an eGo. They're right. You'll waste money trying to "cig-a-like". And the batteries will drive you nuts. My eGo Twist is much, much better.

I definitely ran into that myself. And that's how Blu became almost more expensive than cigs. Their little carts are expensive and can't hold much liquid. I went through the things at an outrageous pace.

Come to think, bet that's their point...

I am gonna get the Ego-C kit. Looks good to me. Do you guys recommend any vendors that ship the kits fast? I am gonna use these disposables in the meantime and I already blew through one since 9 am lol. This is still the longest i've went without a cigarette in a decade, i hope i have it in me to stick with this.... Thank you all.

You can do it! I didn't miss cigarettes at all at first, then I hit the wall at about week 3. Vaping 18mg/ml nicotine like crazy, and something was STILL missing. Vaped nicotine to overdose (nausea) and lost interest in just about anything. Thank goodness nausea is my first OD symptom - some people get headaches. Drank water and vaped 0% juice for an hour two.

The really bad withdrawal symptoms were over in about two days. I'm now a happy vaper. Mixed my first 16mg/ml batch of liquid today, so I'm going to see how that goes. I intend to cut down gradually until I'm vaping almost no nicotine, then see how I feel. A lot of people just seem to lose interest in vaping at that point since the nicotine reward isn't there, but keep an e-cig on hand to use in case of temptation.

I think your ambition of ceasing everything in 8 weeks is do-able, but maybe a bit ambitious. Don't push yourself - even if you continue to vape for longer but never have another cigarette you are far, far, better off.

I found it wasn't really a matter of "will power". I wasn't even trying to quit, I just bought a Blu disposable when I bought my carton of cigs to try this ecig thing out. Then forgot--no, seriously, just forgot--to light a cig for a good nine hours. Still not "trying" to quit. There's a half pack of cigs in a kitchen cabinet and if I wanted one, I'd get it.

I just don't want one.

I smoked the first few weeks of vaping. Way, way, WAY less than usual but a couple few a day. Over time, it was less and less. Cigs taste awful now. Vaping is just better.

And I wasn't a "light" smoker. Did up to 2 packs a day. Now I'm not sure what I saw in the things.

It's... It's still strange to me. I told somebody who asked today it was a little weird. I found myself losing interest in cigs.

I think this stuff is a freaking miracle. :)
