Sailorman got it perfect with the pg/vg comment. He explained it Bette than me.

As for you question about the volt cartomizers, yes, I got a good throat hit. SI only uses about 10% vg. I started with 6mg nicotine and get a good throat hit with volt juices. I have 12mg on mint and ry4 and it is a great hit. Usually the sweeter flavors dont have as much throat hit unless it is higher in nicotine in my experience. You might want to try the strong or smooth starter pack from SI. That would give you 10 different flavors to try. If you don't like mint, don't bother with the strong, there are 3 different mints in that one, but if you do, they are awesome.

As for cartomizers, they are good, but have limitations. The nice thing about volt is that you can add them. They will work on all of the SI batteries

The Volt sounds like what you need to start. Everyone needs a backup and that will be a good one. Eventually, you will probably decide that all day battery life is more important than a cigarette sized ecig. At that point there are many options available that you can switch to. The important point is that you will already have a backup in the volt for the one you eventually upgrade to.

I just started vaping last week and got the Blu starter kit before finding this wonderful forum. The Blu was a disappointment, but thankfully the kind folks here talked me into switching to the Volt. It's been much better than the Blu for me. As for automatic vs. manual, I actually prefer the manual. It's not difficult/time consuming to press the button and I've found it gives me more control than the automatic, which sometimes didn't register when I was inhaling too slowly. The menthol carts I got from the smokeless image website actually gave me too much of a throat hit, and I've decided I prefer a smoother vape. So in that regard, my e-juice recommendations wouldn't be good for you.

You won't be sorry with the volt. Like others have said, you may want to go with a big battery down the line and you can do that with the volt. Currently I use my 900 x2 at home and my small batteries on the road.

If you are going to get the volt, again, get the pro starter kit. The difference between that and the best one is that you don't get a passthrough and only get 1 box of cartomizers. For the difference in money, you can get the x2 and a pack of cartos and still be cheaper. The x2 is not on,y a battery, but also a passthrough, so you can vape on it while charging. I personally never use it as a passthrough since I either vape in the car or in bed.

You may want a pack of blank cartos is you are going to use other company juices.
Vapedudes.com has a great promotion. You can get a free bottle with the code "fbfree". You can also get 40% off the rest of our order with the code "Vapedudes". The fbfree is only for a certain amount of customers each day, so if it doesn't work, try the next day. I got 6 bottles for $12 with shipping. You should definitely get s,aller bottles until you find what you like. Alot of us made the mistake of buying 30ml bottles to start only to find we didn't like a flavor so if they offer smaller bottles at places, get those. I personally like to start with 10ml bottles. It's generally only about $5 and it's enough to get me by if I like it but not too much of a waste if I don't

Lastly, as for what to use. Throat hit comes from Nicotine level, PG and Mints. I would not go too high with the nicotine level. You were smoking light cigarettes and you WILL vape more than you smoked. Do not go higher than 12 to 14mg.

I have to disagree with the above advice. I am a former Parliament Lights smoker (1.5 PAD) and if I had tried to quit using 14mg liquid, I'd still be smoking. Go as high as you need to. I used 36mg for nearly two years and I'm still alive to tell the tale.

I would recommend that you order an assortment of nicotine strengths and maybe some zero or 6mg to dilute if you find that it's too strong. It's much better to combine liquids to lower the nic level than it is to find yourself craving cigarettes because you went too low on the nicotine.

I haven't tried the volt but I always hear good things. However, I've been totally happy with my 510 short battery and a Boge cartomizer. You can get a white automatic battery(no button) and a faux-filter colored cartomizer and you've got yourself an analog. Just need to use an e-liquid with good throat hit, like Boba's Bounty.

P.S. thanks to legacygone for the info about that Brooklyn e-cig company. That could def. be a life-saver for me! And MiamiMom for the tip about the NYC vape meets. Might look into that.

+1 on this advice. I've been vaping for 1-1/2 years now and still use a combination of 30mg and 18mg flavors to get the desired hit - works for me using one of the early Ego models and just replacing batteries and atomizers as necessary. Keeps the cost down and does the job just fine.

When I first went off cigs and went to vaping I was looking for the same shape and went with a Joy-E 510 but these do not have enough power when it comes down to it. I would recommend to get a EGO-T battery with Visions v2 clearomizer.

This place has the cheapest vision v2's Vision EGO Clearomizer -V2

So after you buy the battery and the clearomizer all you need is ejuice and you can vape
I totally agree w/this....The Joyetech egos are all I own. I like the durability; have had some since last July + use them heavily. IMO the hardest part is finding a juice that you like - DIY has been my best bet...affordability plus you never know what you might come up with (not always great) but fun. The only other thing I'd like to suggest is a passthru if you spend much time on your pc. - to me these are the greatest. Anyways...just enjoy!

hi guys! just wanted to update you. received my volt last night. my first thoughts are that i shouldn't have ordered 18mg nicotine cartomizers. they didn't give me the effect that i was expecting. the vapor production is ridiculous though - and i mean that in a good way. i just ordered 24mg, and i'm crossing my fingers that it will make a difference! i ordered it in 80/20 pg/vg. i hope i got that one right if i want major throat hit!
one thing i must say - smokelessimage has THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. they are so helpful and informative. for that reason alone, even if something may be defective, i feel safe with them. also, shipping was superfast. i ordered my pro starter kit on monday @ 3:20. i had it by wednesday. anyway, i know what you're all going to say - if i want throat hit, then i should go with a bigger ecig. but unlike many others, i really do need something that is as close to an analog as possible. even an ecig is too heavy and a bit uncomfortable - but hey - it's worth getting used to if it will help me quit!

No, throat hit is not what you get a bigger e-cig for. Throat hit is determined by the nicotine content and how much VG is NOT in the juice. The advantage of a bigger e-cig is the fact that a bigger battery stays at a higher voltage for much longer than a little one. You can vape it for hour after hour and the voltage will never fall below 3.7V. With a little battery, you can start out at the same 4.1 or 4.2 volts as a big battery, but you'll be down to 3.7 volts within an hour or two, and the last hour will be spent vaping at 3.5 volts or lower. A smaller battery also needs to be recharged 3 or 4 times more often than a big one, so you're less likely to be caught short with a dead battery and the less often you charge a battery, the longer it will live.
