I finally had the opportunity to bring one of these fine cartomizers to a logical and timely death. Which of course led to a full autopsy.
May I ask what exactly was the cause of death? Dehydration?
Symptoms? Somebody somewhere (I think Puff) described it as "sock". Did you taste "sock" or the famous "roasted marshmallows'?
These cartomizers use a very interesting construction technique that is different from the "traditional" and old school KR808D-1 cartomizers that we are familiar with. The new style design should help to eliminate "hot spots" and should yield better liquid flow and vaporization. It also improves the vapor "flow path" with respect to the incoming air.
Looking down the center hole to make sure everything is "centered" and that you can see light
through that hole is even more important on these units...
That's why I think the removable end-cap is very important. Not just for convenience, but also to allow the user to inspect the carto's inside before and after refills to make sure everything is properly saturated and the center post is, indeed, in the center.
