I have to say that if it eventualy works out to be safe, why not.

Being brain damaged with epilepsy I had no help with the common drugs 20+ years ago. Then came Gabapentin, which was expieremental at the time. Seizures were affected to almost non existance. I was a guiny pig, and gladd for it. Now most epilepsy drugs are a darivitive of Gabapentin.

Aren't we all against "big tobbaco"

I can just see ANTZ pushing for the vaccine to be given
to all children ... Naturally, there will be idiots in congress
which will agree with them.

It is far more likely they would push it on to people with mental illness. Its well known that people with mental illness have much higher smoking rates then the general population. Many are on public assistance of some kind.

So heres the deal, you take this vaccine or we cut you off............. it's a Brave New World.

Of course at a later date when it is found there are unusual numbers of these same people jumping off the highest building they can find because of uncontrolled anxiety, depression, etc...... well...... tobacco is just so evil that it's....... an acceptable price to pay to rid the world of the evil weed.

Aren't we all against "big tobbaco"

Don't count me in that gang. I have never had an issue with big tobacco. I smoked because I like it. It made me feel better and function better. If I wasn't getting something out of it I wouldn't do it.

The situations are far from analogous. You were not receiving any benefit whatsoever from seizures.

Many people (whether they realize it or not) are using nicotine to self-medicate the symptoms of underlying conditions. Those who do realize it have noted that when they become abstinent from nicotine, their lives become unmanageable. In some cases this takes the form of an unspecified feeling of unease. Something's wrong, but you can't quite put your finger on it. In more severe cases, when they become abstinent they lose their ability to pay attention, focus, concentrate, remember. They sink into a deep, dark depression. They wait, and wait, and wait for these "temporary" problems to resolve themselves. But they don't resolve until nicotine use is resumed.

Now here is what will happen if the nicotine users described above have been vaccinated against nicotine. They will lose their ability to pay attention, focus, concentrate, remember. They will sink into a deep, dark depression. They will wait, and wait, and wait for these "temporary" problems to resolve themselves. But they don't resolve even when nicotine use is resumed, because the vaccination creates the antibodies that deactivate nicotine so that it doesn't do anything to relieve the symptoms.

To make the situation more analogous, let's say that Gabapentin worked to control your seizures, but it had the side effect of making your life unmanageable: You became unable to pay attention, focus, concentrate, and remember, and sank into a deep depression. But then suppose that you stopped taking it, but the side effects kept coming. Pretty bleak, eh?

Big tobacco? No, Big Tobacco Control has taken over the role of telling lies and misleading the public.

Well one benefit of this new vaccine will be that people with Attention Deficit Disorder will be prevented from being able to concentrate and pay attention better. People with Depression can stay depressed. People who have the genetic tendency to have Lewy Bodies build up in their brain, can enjoy all the benefits of dementia and movement impairments, because nicotine won't work for them. One has to wonder whether these antibodies will also work to fight the medications based on nicotine that are now being developed to treat these conditions.

Personally, I would not touch this vaccine with a 9-foot Hungarian, much less a 10-foot Pole. And I would certainly advise my kids to avoid this vaccine like the plague if it some day becomes a required vaccination for my grandchildren.

Aw, but we have a pill for that! Beware of the pushers with the white coats.

Wow- What a discussion. Please note I said "If it works out to be safe" as in no bad effects, like depression, ect......

As for those of you pro tobacco, say to the 14 year old that just started a habbit, "Yeh I'm pro tobbaco, have fun with that choice". I doubt many would, and if so don't go near my kids. We ALL here for what ever reason deemed smoking unnessary. Freedom of choice and presures to inhale cancer, two different things in my book. Why not just push e cigs on our kids. Hey lets advertise smoking rat poision.

As for "For some, it seems to be all about what there is to be against." I respond- aren't you against this new drug. And thanks for grouping me in with the "some it seems are all about what there is to be against" without knowing me.

I am not saying take away freedom of choice. I do say I hate big tobbaco. I didn't say hurt big tobbaco, or ban it. But if big tobbaco is OK, why aren't you smoking analogs?

I have a feeling the discussion is about to get a lot more interesting.

I'd reply to some of this, but I have to go out and pick up some lunch.
Looking forward to what I find when I get back though.

I am just wondering, would you take it?

I'm wondering why the politicos around here are so keen to jump upon anything that isn't clearly couched in support of vaping. There seems to be quite a focus in defining what 'our outlook' should be by some participants in ECF.

By contrast, a similar posting regarding this topic in the Canadian portion hasn't seemed to yet draw the venom as seen here.

Big tobacco didn't keep me smoking 43 years, I did. However, the health organization were very complicit in insuring that I continued smoking rather than the tobacco industry. I wanted to quit smoking because I was told it was bad for me. I tried two dozen times +/- and failed each time using the methods that I was sold and told would work, most by the pharma industry.

Big tobacco had the products that would keep me from smoking and that I find much more enjoyable. However, our health associations were already making too much money promoting what BP was selling. Thus, instead of selling the truth, they sold horror stories of smokeless products. They sold it so hard that most people when asked believe that smokeless is worse than smoking when in fact most smokeless is orders of magnitude safer.

Be careful where you place your hate.

I think your perspective would benefit from separating tobacco from Big Tobacco.
Snus are tobacco, but they won't kill you.

And I think further benefit could be derived by separating tobacco from nicotine.

You can buy many nicotine delivery products from Big Tobacco these days that will not kill you.
Notice I said nicotine delivery products, not tobacco.

You seem to be using the following set of equations...
--Nicotine=BAD
--Big Tobacco=Nicotine
--Big Tobacco=BAD

There is one big thing wrong with that set of equations...
--Nicotine is not necessarily bad, and may even be good for many people

Therefore the following equation should be reconsidered...
Big Tobacco=BAD

Hey lets advertise smoking rat poision.
And this part sounds like you've been brain-washed by the ANTZ.

Salt kills snails.
Should we rename salt and call it snail poison?

Drinking to much water will kill you.
Should we rename water and call it Human Death Juice?

There is a reason that the old saying "The dose makes the poison" has become a principle of toxicology.
Because nothing could be more true.

I agree, be carefull where you place your hate. Thats why I hate big tobacco. When THEY knew about the risks, they hid them. Yes, big tobbaco hid the results for many years. Big tobbaco produced an addictive cancer causing agent and sold it to us. Big Pharmacy is also guilty, by exploiting that addiction. Its exploitation of exploitation in my book. Why do I vape? Because big tobbaco and big pharmacy have yet to come up with a product supiorior to e cigs for my personal needs. If big pharmacy does come up with something truely better that better suits my needs, I am there. As of now, absolutely not.

I think for me anyway, besides being carefull where I put my hate, I also am carefull where I put my trust. I do not trust big tobbaco, nor do I trust big pharmacy, but as stated earlier, big pharmacy did help my epilepsy, where big tobbaco only hurt me. Although I don't trust either, I do however trust my Echo and DIY juice. As of right now it is the option that helps fit my needs best.

I'll not address hypothetical circumstances at this time.
Then I will reply in this manner...

You seem to be mistaking a lack of support for this vaccine by thinking it has to do with non-support for vaping.
When really, I am quite sure most of what you are seeing is a healthy degree of mistrust directed towards Big Pharma.

There seems to be quite a focus in defining what 'our outlook' should be by some participants in ECF.
To me there seems to be quite a focus here on ECF in speaking one's mind.
If you disagree with what you read here, you are invited to give your two cents.

I am, of course, assuming you have two cents.

DC2 you have some great points. I think I have been brainwashed to a certain degree about big tobbaco. But obviously I still picked big tobacco.

No where have I stated nicotine is bad. Please state where I said this.

Big tobacco puts extra ingrediants in there products that cause cancer. Even in the small amouts. Please show me that big tobbacco cigs don't cause cancer. I hate cancer. Have had friends die from it. Sure other things cause cancer. A lot of things. Some even seem good.

I tried to get my wife to try some of the "NEW" non tobacco products, because the e cigs didn't fit her needs. I doubt big tobbaco came up with these because they simply felt nicotine was such a great benifit to man kind. I have read several articles on this site that point out the advantages of nic and have passed on that info to others. My guess is big tobbaco came up with it because of money to be made and pressure.

I find it interesting how many people here have assumed so much about what I have written.
