Dramatic loss in taste and smell of EVERYTHING since vaping

Brewdawg, Zazie thanks. Check the above - more symptoms from me. And testing results.

Zazie, exactly: the roof of the mouth. + tongue in my case.

For How long are you 2 vaping?

I started with a cigalike on April 7 of this year and switched to a regulated mod this November. I go through probably 3 mls of juice a day, 12mgs of nic with the cigalike, dropped to 8-9 with the mod (MTL, low wattage). Not a warrior vaper, in other words.

Even with the different proportions of VG and PG I now vape, I have the sensation of having mildly burned the roof of my mouth nearest my front teeth. It doesn't bother me much, and over time I suspect I won't notice it at all.

And when I overdo it with VG, it's mostly an issue with needing to clear my throat alot. Not like having smoker's cough, but just a little annoying bit.

Yes, it's the same for me, except that I do cough somewhat trying to clear my throat when I overdo it with the VG. My nose gets stuffed up, too. Even at 50-50, I am aware of being more phlegmy.

Thanks guys,
nice to know am not alone with that. Well, 3 ml of juice per day I have no problems. With my coffee I can do a tank of 2 ml easily. But that brings consequences. I was so enoyed reading people can vape 20-30 ml per day....
Never had any problem with my throat, though. Dont even know what a throat hit is. But my wife tried to vape and her throat was on fire shortly. So vaping for the difference of cigs is very individual when it comes to preferences and especialy side effects.

Bottom line, vaping does have side effects, much more obvious ones than the analogues. What we know the long term effects of smoking are fraightful. But we dont know what vaping brings after decades of use. With all the irritation I experience it cant be just positive...
One must decide on his own.

For me, the short-term side effects of smoking were much worse. Headaches, heart burn, sore throat, sore tongue, sore eyes (I love that vapor doesn't make my eyes burn), and coughing added up to far more discomfort than what I've experienced from vaping.

Hmmm, maybe for a fewvweeks or months as far as I remember. Afterwards had no problems in 25 years. That is if I forget about the smell and hole in my wallet.

The burning thing could be a PG sensitivity, it's what I get at over 10% pg. Could be other issues too if your vape is fairly warm you could try longer and narrower drip tips to cool it.

IDk welcome.

Hi Anna,

Have read lots of your threads as you are posting a lot. Most supportive person.

I see you went to read about my short experiment so you'll see it is not just PG but both of them. Smbdy should make an innovation: vaping water with nic. That would help, lol.

I quit smoking and started vaping May 1, 2017. I started with a Nautilus as well. And yeah, you see all kinds of people here going thru 6, 8, or 10 ml a day. That'd do me in. But that's okay. I probably average about 180 hits a day, and that's about what I was doing with smokes, so it's still a little similar in habit. Although now, I wouldn't panic to be without a mod for an hour or two, as opposed to how I'd have felt with not having a pack of smokes on hand.

(I think you can still get) some sort of prescription vaporizer that isn't much like vaping, it's kind of anemic from what I hear about it but it's some sort of weird, rather unsatisfying and not very vapey thing, through your doc, by prescription. It's insanely expensive but I do think it's more similar to an asthma vaporizer type thing, IDK.

Thanks guys,

for the moment I d prefer to stay on vape as it did get me off from the analogues for 6 months. The only thing that ever worked for me for so long.

I would stay of em cigs if only those problems wouldn't have appeared.

Maybe it is my fault as I started to enjoy vaping so increased the liquid intake upto 10ml/day during the spring 2018. Then problems started to grow on me.

If I stayed put with my 6ml/day I probably wouldn't be smoking anymore. But vaping becomes fun and joy. Holding back on max 6ml again means restrictions....
I vape during posting, just now. Chaining. Again, dry mouth, senses gone. Over 6 ml today again. Must've drank a lake today...
I hate it.

Truer words have never been posted! But you should've been around a couple of months ago before she got too busy for us! She'd have replied to your original post within 10 nanoseconds of you posting it. She's slipping! And yes, nobody around these parts is more supportive than Anna!

Nah, it's better this way, truly. And, I get lot less "would you kindly stay on topic PMs from the mods. LOL. I gotta go do my med box anyway, see?

LOL I support almost anyone who vapes except there are a few I would like to NOT see vape, like Glantz (although I get the sense he is unlikely to start even without my intervention although I do wonder if he ever once, in SECRET like took a tiny puff off the deadliest stuff in the known universe or not.. I so WOULD but I'm not him, thankfully) any FDA staff, pretty much that sort of you know, thing.

Better flee I guess!

Hi everyone,
just joined, am from Slovenia, small country in Europe. Vaping for a year now.... But stil combining it with the analogues as this issue with a sense of burning mouth/tongue does not go away....

Will look for any advice on this forum.

Do DIY, mostly MTL user but also on DTL devices. Just got my new SXK Prime (Kayfun clone). Love Nasty Silver juice and all tobacco flavors.

The biggest issue: vaping more than 6 ml/day makes dry mouth and nose, especially during the winter. Senses of taste and smell are worse whrn vaping. Analogues actually seem to help.

That's why restarted smoking after being put solely on my vape for 6 months. The struggle was too painfull. Tried everything, at least I think so.

Hope to find some advices here...

Don't give up. I know it stinks not to be able to vape as much as you want, but please keep trying.

I still think if you up your nicotine you might be able to vape less. On the other hand, if the appeal is the physicality of vaping--the handling of the mod, the movement of hand to mouth, the pressing of the fire button--that's a different problem to solve. But there are a lot of people here who will be happy to try to figure it out with you. I've only been here a minute myself, but I can say that with certainty.

Reporting:
1st day on as much as 7 mg of nic in my juice. Reduced intake down to 3,5ml. Some 0,5 still to go until turning on. The whole day just MTL vaping. Somehow boring. But have to admit 3 things:
1) learned about the throat hit - not from PG but the increased nic, the salted one. With just 7mg it like slightly scratches my throat. Did try to do restricted DTL but no, thanks. I know not how people can vape 18mg and more...
2) my mouth's roof already starting to feel burnt but the tongue still feels the flavour
3) higher nic and some conscious holding back made me puffing less but still got enough nic

Obviously craving for nic was driving me into more vaping (apart from the pleasure with flavours and clouds). I will stick with 7 mg for some time.

Need however to start reducing the smokes at the same time. This shall be the hard part. If I only could bear 10 ml/day.
